Injuries

Rooney’s Extended Layoff Boosts The Hernandez Option

Alex Ferguson has brought us the first dose of significant injury news of the day, suggesting that Wayne Rooney’s ankle injury will keep him sidelined for longer than the expected three week period.

The United boss revealed in today’s press conference that the striker was now likely to miss the derby clash with City on November 10. He offered a pretty vague prognosis, stating that Rooney is simply “injured and resting” ahead of the weekend meeting with Spurs but made it clear that he “could” be missing for a longer period than the intial three-week assessment. When asked on the three week absence Ferguson replied “I think it may be longer.”

This latest information is of course of interest as it boosts the Fantasy potential of Javier Hernandez. The Mexican looks nailed on for starts in Rooney’s absence given his current form and would now seem set to earn starts against Spurs, Wolves and City and possibly Aston Villa three days later. A run of four Gameweeks would certainly increase his appeal as a mid-price option up front given that he can be recruited for just 7.0 in the Fantasy Premier League Game.

With many Fantasy Managers facing up to shifting the injured Carlos Tevez from their squads, it seems that Hernandez suddenly offers improved prospects as a cheap alternative.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

People who are thinking of ditching Berbatov... he has 2 home games to come and not scored less than 7 points at home this season.

Someone said he's done nothing since his hatrick... that's right, but 3 of the 4 have been away and he did assist in his last home games.

Food for thought guys... food for thought 🙂

I was hell bent on keeping my team as is but getting itchy to bring in Fabregas as i know that hardly anyone in my minileague is bringing him in.

    Thought is Nasri%Berbatov > Fabregas&Varney

Someone convince me that Berbatov and Nasri will score more than those two(bearing in mind it would be a 4 point hit)!

Varney is a good value player if you're short on cash... he'll probs be better value than Berbatov over the course of the season, but for the next 2 games it's Berbatov all the way.

Ok, here goes, I have Nasri but I want Fabregas. I was going to swap Bale for Fabregas (money not an issue), but now that Tevez is crocked, the only viable solution is to swap Tevez for Chamakh.

My question – Is it worth a four point hit to also get in Fabreags for Bale? That would mean I then would have Nasri, Fabregas and Chamakh. Is that a total overkill?

Anyone recommend any alternatives? This is the first gameweek for me, where I’m not sure what subs to make.

I would be fairly confident that Fabs will outscore Bale by 4 pts this week, so I'd go for it, especially if its a move you're going to make anyway. You can also captain him.

as a chelsea fan i'd say yeah.. alex may drop tonight so wait till tomorrow though. carlo not gonna rotate his CB's. it's gonna be alex and terry every week with ivanovic at right back for the tougher games and bosingwa for the easier ones..

      Two schools of though:

      1) Ivanovic will start due to Blackburn aerial threat

      2) Bos will start in order to keep building match fitness

In a close call always back the guy playing at home.

only about 13-14 away cleansheets so far (and most have them have been total flukes rather than solid defensive displays)
