Okay, I'm playing my wildcard this week and have settled on my midfield/attack and am happy with it. BUT I keep going over and over my defence and keepers and chopping and changing. Does anyone with a spare few minutes fancy having a little look at what keepers/defenders you could get for 28.8 million?

At the moment I'm liking the look of Hutton, Kelly and Coleman but would happily shift it around. In goal I've been looking at Fabianski and Begovic but would be happy to change for a better suggestion... Any thoughts on a 28.8 mill GK/DEF combo?

Is Fabianski going to get his place back? Sczezny (sp?) has looked good.

Im benching VDV like you even though it feels wrong. Don't feel there is a choice though. One question.. Do i play bosingwa or djourou this week? Djourou at home against wigan could very well be a CS but i feel wigan will sneak a goal. Bosingwa has been very attacking and its just a matter of time before he grabs a goal/assist..thoughts?

    Hey guys, RMWCT

    Kingston (Foster)
    Kelly Vidic Coleman (jara, Murphy)
    Nani, Fabrigas, Kuyt, Adam (VDV)
    Rooney RVP DJ

Then without taking hits for gw27 i can get:

    Foster (kingston)
R Jouhnson, Colman, Murphy, jara (vidic)
    VDV, Fab, Walcot, Adam (nani)
    Rvp, Odemwhignie. (tevez

I still have my other wildcard in hand so after GW27 i can WC to get team back to normal, esp if gw 28 arsenal have their fixture postponed.

    any weakneses here?

hmm yeah that was my main problem i was thinking with jara, i have odem for their dgw combinatiion, what else could u suggest.

Bodda why do u feel Rjohnson is a bad choice, i know its a bit risky going for 3 Birmingham defenders but in a triplle week im gauranteed at least one cleany and they have easy games.

Berba played in all the games over Xmas / New Year (4 games in 10 days). I think SAF should play a full-strength team against both Brum and Blackpool - bank the points now, because he will probably want to rotate around the CL games.

Whether he will do that is another matter - I think Chico will start one of the 2 games, whether for Rooney or Berba it's hard to say.

    Kingson (Hart)
    Vidic | Hughes | Skrtel
    VdV | Fabregas | Nani | Adam | N'Zogbia

Looks decent but Coleman could of course do something amazing against West Ham. It's a gamble leaving him on the bench but it's a gamble not to play a double DGW def. It's a tough call and I am currently playing him rather than bring in a third DGW def as both times I've benched him he's scored!

Yep that was the week. I had him benched when he scored the time before also! Good chance of clean sheet too. I am on WC and have brought in a Liverpool defender but I'm still undecided as it's not unlikely for them to concede in both games.

Australia likely to play Iran on 22 Jan, Korea probably Iraq on the same day. Anyway, Cahill had a knock at the end of the game tonight, didn't look serious but who knows. Schwarzer looked good but was worked in the 2nd half. Australia gave up 1 goal (in 3 games) in the the group stage.

If he doesn't play then Kolorov slots in. My thinking is Kolorov has good likelyhood of being a short pitch-time sub, wheras Toure will play whole game or not at all. So I would prefer Toure ahead of Kol.

Drop Alcaraz for Coleman. You already have Wigan exposure with Al-Habsi and they are too unpredicatable to double-up on, especially with one of those game being Arsenal away.

You are a brave man to leave VDV out. 6.9 pts per game average compared to Albrighton's 3.8 a game (bearing in mind Albrighton is a rotation risk especially given there are two games and he got subbed off against Man City last time they played after 55 mins and was confined to the bench for the next two games ater that).

Thinking of playing my wildcard team next week and was curious what people felt of it.

Foster-/-Stockdale (Stockdale to Schwarzer when he returns)
    Johnson, R-/-Shawcross-/-Djourou-/-Coleman-/-Bardsley
    VDV-/-Nani-/-Fabregas-/-Brunt-/-Etherington
    Tevez-/-RvP-/-Odemwingie

Brunt will go to Cahill when he returns. Only worry for me personally is the amount of Arsenal with injuries and losing of place to others.

Put one food at one side of a room one day, and a different food on the other side of the room the next for at least 4 days, so you have two go's at each food. Then put both of them in the same room, let the dog sniff both, and see where the dog goes

That's actually a good idea. I was thinking of putting 4 in the room. They can't be together, because the smells would mix. Yet they all have to be in line-of-sight, or the dog will just go to the one in his direct field of vision.

But by seperating them into two, although the test will take longer, it makes sense.

Plus, in your test, the dog won't just go immediately for what it knows, it can actively judge which one it knows is its favorite.

Good play Sir. That's been in my mind for the best part of a year on and off.

Who would he displace at Chelsea? Malouda or Anelka? Anelka facilitates Drogba to such a degree it would be madness to move him, and Malouda is a better player than Pienaar in my view.

In midfield then Lampard/Essien/Mikel have that all sewn up

He would he displace at spurs? Kranjcar is class and he can't get a game, Bale has the left side nailed down. Bentley is a decent player aswell and he couldn't get a game. Spurs have a lot more options then Chelsea.

I think Harry is mindful of what happened to Villa a couple of seasons ago, when they were challenging for a top-4 spot but dropped off badly at the end of the season, with players looking knackered.

He needs a good squad to compete in PL, CL, FA Cup etc. I think it's a good move for Spurs. Not such a good move for Pienaar, for the reasons Chamakh that gives.

that's true, I meant of Bentley comment more that it doesn't say much about the Spurs team that Bentley couldn't get his game, there are much better players at Spurs than him, he fit well at Blackburn and will do a good job for the aerial attack minded Brummies, definitely looking at him for GW27

+1. I was gutted when he left Arsenal. He had a good debut for birmingham, like so many others at Spurs, he just wasn't given the chance. I reckon Pienaar will go down the same route as Kranjcar, Bentley, Dos Santos etc...

Well Bale has the left sewn up, Palacios and Modric will be in the middle (albeit that Modric floats around), and VDV supporting the striker in the CAM capacity means that the right is the only position open? So in that case, I would prefer Pienaar

He'll get game time to rest Lennon/Bale/VDV after CL matches.

He's a squad player who can play in a fair few positions and may hasten the departure of Kranjcar who is less versatile. I guess that's a good thing but for a squad player I really hope we haven't spent too much on his wages.

and apparently the Chelsea deal fell through as they wouldn't accept his wage demands...

Let's say he wants 40K a week, hardly unreasonable in this day and age and no doubt it was higher...

          40K * 52 = £2mil a year :/

So, if it were 60K we're basically paying him the price we paid to sign him every year to get some cover / better player sitting on the bench.

If Bent signs then i would imagine he will start. He will be no. 1 striker at Villa, all the more likely if he gets a couple of days training with his new teammates. All depends on when deal is completed i guess.

Does seem a strange transfer. Wonder if there is something going on at Sunderland? does make Gyan a more attractive prospect though...

Messing around with my team (isn't linked yet, sorry) and wondering how crucial Nani is for the double gameweek and beyond? I've got Vidic and Berba for ManU cover and 2 free transfers - thinking of doing Bale/MGP for Dempsey/N'Zogbia vs. Nani/pure, pine-riding dirt.. Is he really that important to the ManU cause?

      Yes.

He had a poor game at the weekend, but he has been a focal point for the United team this season and will continue to provide some decent deliveries into the box from the right for the man mountain Vidic to get his noggin' on.

I would say Nani in your midfield is almost an essential this season.

Maybe long term but can't see that happening any time soon. Plus BAE actually played well against United

lol 39 players more likely to play...i dunno it's a bit of a weird 1...Pienaar wanting to leave first team footy @ Everton for a possible bench place for them over the other side of North London...we'll see what happens...

Having a quiet game, getting little service.

      Not injury related.

Tactical I'd guess, someone with a more defensive ethic to combat Bale was needed.

BAE actually put in a really good game against him. Well, him and Bale.
