Fantasy Premier League (FPL) 2011/12 Is Now Open

Fancy Robin Van Persie at 12.0? Or how about Luis Suarez for 9.5? Then you can have ’em.

Yes folks, it’s the day (night) we’ve all been waiting for. It’s here. Finally.

Fantasy Premier League (FPL) has opened its doors for season 2011/12.

After a few false starts last week, with the new look needing one or two final tweaks, everything is now in order and we can begin to pick our squads ahead of the big kick-off on the 13th of next month.

So waste no more time and head on over to the Premier League official site to begin picking your fifteen.

We’ll have a further round-up of some of the prices in a little while but in the meantime, put off your bedtime for just a while. FPL is back.

Oh, and in case you are all wondering: Aleksander Kolarov is priced at 6.5. Don’t all rush at once, now.

  Why on earth would you go for Kuyt with a midfield now crammed with talent and Suarez and Carroll starting up front, off pens too with Stevie G back. Other than that I like it.

I really dont think its as difficult as everyone is saying. You just have to really cut back on defense this year and look for 1 or 2 wildcards like Andy Carroll was last year for 5.5.

2 questions...
1. Who are looking like the nailed on 4.5 mids?
-don't want the yellow card machine Tiote
-unfamiliar with the promoted sides...looks like Derry started almost all of QPR's games last year

2. Zamora or Rodallega?
-Zamora 0.5 more expensive, both have very nice starts

  Saw Derry in someone's RMT earlier but I'm also unfamiliar with him. I currently have Tiote as my cheap mid but I'm going to move it to Derry if he's nailed on. Had Zamora, now got Roda but the swap was due to funds.

  If your captain plays 0 minutes in the Gameweek, the captain will be changed to the vice-captain.
  
  If both captain and vice-captain play 0 minutes in a Gameweek, then no player's score will be doubled.

  It replaces the old emergency captain (value/form) feature. Now either your C or VC MUST play otherwise no player gets double points.

Ridiculous, surely iPhone users make up a large proportion of their overall players and you can't use the site on an iPhone!

  I must admit I hate the look and feel of the new site. I can't understand why everything is so damn big. It seems that all the changes have been coxmetic and add nothing to the game 🙁

  I agree this sucks...for now. Hopefully it gets sorted...not like Champions League or World Cup games where you couldn't make drag and drop manuevers with an iphone.
  
  If any of the adminstrators are reading this post, I will not become a member (for 12.50) if I can't use my iphone to make normal transactions in the FPL game.

    Not a chance. He took one when he was back, missed and then Baines was back on the next one (and scored). Baines is about as secure a penalty taker as there is IMO.

  I think I read somewhere that Rafael might not get that much of a go this year. Not sure about the reason but the guy who said it on here said so. It might not be true but you should probably keep it in mind
  
  I think there's a little too much spent on the midfield. Plus the new bonus system isn't going to help Lampard. Get Malouda, he's going to thrive with the new bonus system.

a tough decision come the opening week will be which Newcastle attacking option to have:

Ba or Ben Arfa

Arsenal isn't a great opening fixture, but from a long-term, budget option perspective, that Newcastle slot seems an important one to fill

With some serious inflation hitting FPL prices in the midst of a recession it's even more imperative that people can sniff out a bargain this year. My advice at this stage is not to worry too much about players but to set your squad up in a manner which gives you flexibility to move as and when the must have bargains reveal themselves a few weeks in.

Haven't seen a lot mentioned about Sessegnon on here yet but if Sunderland go one up top i can see his creative influence garnering him a few points this season either on the wing or playing behind Gyan.
