FFS Cup

Paddy Power Cup V – The Last 16

A few weeks back, over 2200 registered and now we are down to the last 16 of the Paddy Power Cup V. They’ve come through seven stages and are two victories away from playing for a prize. The draw for the next round has been and looks a lot like this…

1RaasclartVs.Mr Bungle
2mendersVs.CSKA AWFUL
3NattVs.Declan
4Der-Hammer95Vs.Sc8tt26
5soulman27Vs.runty
6ChickenDevilVs.Timmy Loving
7VereWinnerVs.sleepingmaster
8Bruce BaerVs.Funkyav

Top-seed, and 181st in the world, Der-Hammer95 has a tough assignment against 1,241st overall Sc8tt26. Of course at this stage of the competition there’s no easy games. In fact, there are only two teams with less than 1,000 points.

As luck would have it, those two Fantasy managers yet to hit four-digits have been matched together. 250k in the world VereWinner takes on 127k in the world sleepingmaster.

Last week’s top-scorer, Mr Bungle, once again finds himself as the away team in the first fixture of the round. There’s obviously no disadvantage to coming out of the hat second, and Mr Bungle actually has the effective lead going into his game with Raasclart. The 83 points between them means the ‘visitors’ will go through with a draw.

All ties will be played over the upcoming Gameweek 19, good luck to all!

Please note – with such a short turnaround from Gameweek 19 to Gameweek 20, we’ve made the decision to postpone the Quarter-Finals until Gameweek 21. This will ensure that the draw can be made and published well in advance of any deadline – it will also remove the double gameweek fixtures as a factor and bring the January wildcard into play for the last eight.

Vorm ... i think both will let goals in but Vorm more likely to rack up the save points and he is at home.

my opinion too. plus gerrard is back for liverpool and he will create chances for sure. both will concede, but vorm at home will probably have a better chance, krul has quite a low save total so you'd more have to bank on him getting a clean sheet than saves.

Funny, if it comes down to save points I'd fancy Krul. Liverpool have a lot of shots that are straight at the keeper. Recipe for save points. Swansea will probably have more possession than Newcastle too so in theory less shots for Vorm to save.

Without the creativity of Suarez, Newcastle are better placed for a clean sheet. Especially if recent away performances at Anfield are to go by.
Krul this week. Swansea may well see any save points scrubbed by goals conceded.

      - Liverpool may not look good at scoring much, but they failed to score at home just once.

      - Liverpool had most goal attempts in the league, but Spurs had more shot on target.

      - Leaning to Vorm as I'm Liverpool fan and my close friend is Toon Army. I can't really cheer Krul.

atm, i have it on RVP.

Having read various comments from RVP and Wenger i think he will be provided with the opportunity to break the record.

If the record wasnt in question i would be less convinced. I genuinely believe that this will impact on Wengers decision, against any reservations.

      Nani.

Of my main rivals, I am the only one who has him. If it fails, I have insurance in that I have 5 TOT/EVE players going in the DGW to their 2-3.

Twisted logic, perhaps, but that's my plan - Nani.

yeah and if he doesnt start and arsenal are up he may stay on the bench so maybe rvp(C) and nani (VC) would be the best way to go.

nani for me 😉 United are on fire at the moment and home to blackburn=cash money

From your list, logic would dictate sturridge. swansea don't give up much at home, and walcott just recovering from illness and in all likelihood won't have rvp to feed assists to. Sturridge (C) for me from that lot.

Who should be benched out of the following? Planning on playing 2 of them.

    Sinclair (Tot - Home)
    Drenthe (WBA - Away)
    Ben Arfa (Liv - Away)

Got an urge to play Ben Arfa but obviously risky that he might only play 20-30mins.

    4. Ferreira for a 1 week punt (if get news that bos injured)

Well the wildcard can be used up to the deadline on the 4th of February so it can be used for GW 24 then. Used during GW 23 and ends at the deadline for GW 24. Thats my understanding of it anyway.

Ooo... Didn't realise he was still in.

Thinking I recognise 5 of the names left in. Hopefully one of them, preferably Greg, Declan or Funkyav, wins the thing.

Thinking I'll do Ba to Sturridge tonight. While he's in form and the focal point of Newcastle's attack they have tough fixtures then he's off to ACON. Sturridge has form and fixtures. Just looking for assurance before I make the transfer.

have already taken a 4 point hit but also have the problem that i could have 5 players playing in the spurs v swansea game. i have bale, adebeyor and vorm starting and i have gallas and sinclair on the bench but im starting evans and jones who may not play...

sorta complicated but is wortj taking another hit to replace given with sorenson so it will reduce the possibility of 5 players in the 1 game?

Not great - only got 25% chance of playing - but with the amount of defenders injured, could Sir Alex take the risk? perhaps - but what other defenders have you got?

        I've got:
        Jones Enrique Evans Brown Simpson
at the moment. Plan was the to play the first 3 and bench the last 2, I have 2 frees so may try to get BAE in for Evans.

sounds like a plan - bearing in mind though that despite Tottenham's good run of games - Evans may get fit and the way United are playing at the moment could get quite a few clean sheets.

Was there a lack of press conferences today? Hopefully some tomorrow? Jakers, your hobby is nerdy when it involves waiting for press conferences.

sky sports news say that jones could be back after illness........ was it the flu and not his bake that kept him out on monday?

Just switched Ba > Ade before the price rise tonight and DGW.

I will probably switch Verm > Walker for DGW too, just trying to decide if Moses > Drenthe for DGW is worth the 4pt hit?

    What do you think?

Get B - or maybe Valencia and Sturridge rather than Valencia and Ba because of the African Cup thing which Ba will be out for several weeks/months with.

What do people think about putting Balotelli in the Christmas wildcard, bearing in mind that I'm willing to take occasional 10 minute appearance? Only 8.1 and has some lovely fixtures coming up...

Berbatov getting a run of games and goals maybe? But Balotelli - likely to get the odd goal here and there - when he plays that is.
