Watchlist

The Watchlist – Nikica Jelavic

Prior to his arrival at Goodison last January, there were plenty who questioned whether Nikica Jelavic could produce the goods in the Premier League. The Croatian’s superb scoring record for Glasgow Rangers was dismissed by cynics, who deemed the level of Scottish top-flight competition far too lightweight to judge a player’s real potential. Fast forward four months and Jelavic’s Everton record of nine goals from 13 appearances was proof enough that David Moyes, finally, had found a first-class finisher to lead the line for the Merseysiders:

Steven Pienaar’s loan return for the second half of last season also proved critical. With the South African’s left flank understanding with Leighton Baines producing a potent source of creativity which Jelavic was all too happy to feed upon, the Toffees customary climb up the table earned them a seventh place finish. As the lone frontman in Moyes’ favoured 4-5-1, Jelavic, from just 10 starts, had returned 11 bonus points in addition to those nine goals in the Fantasy Premier League games and accrued 69 points; a clear indication of his Fantasy potential.

With Pienaar back on a permanent basis and Marouane Fellaini terrorising defences in support of Jelavic up top, Everton have already beaten United and eased past Villa before succumbing to West Brom at the Hawthorns last weekend. While the midfielders have picked up plenty of suitors thanks to their eye-catching performances, Jelavic has crept under the radar somewhat, despite getting off the mark in the Gameweek 2 win at Villa Park.

In part, it’s down to Robin Van Persie and Carlos Tevez. With FPL managers desperate to install both in their frontlines, the need for a cut-price forward to balance the budget means 8.5 priced Jelavic currently has just 10% ownership. In the Sky Sports game, it’s another matter entirely, though – with just 30 transfers to make over the season, the Croatian is fourth most popular forward thus far – a real show of faith in his consistency.

Moyes will be keen to bounce back from the Baggies loss and, looking at the fixture ticker, Everton have a superb run of fixtures on their agenda over the next couple of months to profit from. Between now and Gameweek 13, Jelavic will welcome (NEW, SOT, LIV, SUN, NOR) to Goodison and with Baines’ creativity, in particular, a real stand out feature of the Toffees play right now, the Croatian could well be in line to rack up the goals and offer a viable value alternative to those brave enough to overlook the services of the free-scoring Manchester duo.

And then he gets assists too!

Barfa is in a very special position as a midpriced midfielder with regular goals. And in a good team that appears to only attack down his side!

Should I switch out Bale for Cazorla or should I give Bale one more GW to prove his value?

What are others doing with Bale?

I was thinking that if I did do do that switch that I could then transfer out Cazorla for Ben Arfa for GW5.

Hold on to Bale - you've waited this long and he's got 2 good fixtures.

      I sold him for Hazard.

No point in getting Cazorla for 1 GW IMHO. Save the transfer and go straight for Barfa GW5

Ya I already have Hazzard atleast.

My current team is as follows,

        Da Gea/Cerny
        Rafael/Gallas/Baines/Rangel/Hughes
        Bale/Hazzard/Michu/Kacaniklic/El Ahmidi
        RVP/Tevez/Petric

Im pretty happy without making a transfer this GW and then doing Da Gea to Foster and Bale to Ben Arfa for GW5

That could be a plan. If you brought in Cazorla and got a points hurricane against the leaky Southampton defence that can't be a bad transfer. I see it as much more likely than Bale having a great week.

Only fear is that you're wasting transfers by swapping Caz in and out - I have personally decided to get Caz GW7 and that's it.

Thats what I was originally planning on doing myself, I just fear the price drop of Bale if he has another bad GW vs Cazorla price rising after having a good one.

Depends how far Bale is gonna fall and Cazorla is gonna rise - this GW. Transfers are so slow right now that Bale might only fall once more and Cazorla get one rise. If you're happy with that you could give Bale a go. Otherwise you might as well go Bale > Cazorla, prices are points at this stage of the season.

Ok, so haven't had an RMT for a long time, so feel free to give suggestions.
    This is my WC team:

    Cech/4.0
    Zaba/Ridgewell/Rangel/Jenkinson/Demel
    Hazard/Pieenar/Nolan/Michu/Maloney
    RVP/Tevez/Long

It's a bit different but I like the look of this team and want to have some differentials to have some fun. Have 2.4 in the bank but I want to wait and see before getting Cazorla or HBA in. So maybe one of them next week as I have the cash.

They do if there is a free space don't they, so if you only register 24 players then you can add a free agent?

Rules state you cannot leave space open for new signings. Someone posted it on here earlier today but I can't find it. Not guaranteed but it sounds like Swans would need special dispensation from Prem - perhaps Owen ruling is a precedent?

Checked this just now. Swansea squad is only 22/25:
            http://forum.planetswans.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=127488&p=1553487

They can fill the remaining 3 spaces with free agents if necessary. So they can get competition for Davies by signing a free agent.

You're not allowed to leave any over-21 players out to leave space for free agents, but I presume they haven't done that

PS Stoke only needed permission to get Owen in because they wanted to modify their submitted squad list to replace a player with Owen. This was because they had already submitted a list of 25.

Checking this I think so. People on the Liverpool boards were talking about free agents here: http://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/index.php?topic=297347.0 and they seem to think free agents can just be added to the roster.

Both as nailed on in my opinion. Its split 50 / 50. The general concensus around here seems to be Gorkks but I've gone Gunter.

Demel is the best looking 4.0m defender at the moment. But came off injured in the last game (no news on this yet)

Clyne looks like a good attacking option and nailed on, however Southamptons defence hasn't been great so far this year

Snodgrass (c), Nolan, McAnuff, Ramirez, (Granero)
