Watchlist

The Watchlist – James Morrison

With two wins and a draw from a tough opening schedule, Steve Clarke has turned a few heads as the new man in charge at West Brom. The Baggies first three Gameweeks, which saw them welcome Liverpool and Everton to the Hawthorns in addition to a trip to Spurs, had many Fantasy managers reluctant to invest early on but, with just two points dropped, their assets are starting to pick up plenty new suitors:

Mainly, the focus has been on defence. With a couple of clean sheets already in the bag, Fantasy managers have snapped up the likes of Gareth McAuley, Liam Ridgewell and Ben Foster in their numbers as a source of mid-price cover, while the likes of City and United – without a single clean sheet between them – toil to justify their costlier price tags at the back.

James Morrison, however, has flown under the radar. The Baggies midfielder has a mere 1% ownership in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), despite returning a goal, an assist and a couple of bonus points over his opening trio of matches. Currently sitting on 18 points, he’s racked up more than Foster and is only one behind Ridgewell for West Brom, while in terms of midfielders, he’s just a single point worse off than the likes of Santi Cazorla, Marouane Fellaini and Kevin Nolan – all far more popular picks, each with their own bandwagons to boast of.

While consistency of selection has plagued the Baggies forwards, with only Shane Long starting the first three matches, Morrison’s place in Clarke’s midfield currently looks assured. Stationed in “the hole” behind the Irishman, he has played all but nine minutes of the season so far – Long, on the other hand, has been subbed off midway through the second-half in all three matches as Clarke freshens up his attack late on.

Priced at 6.0 in FPL and 6.4 in the Sky Sports game, the Scot looks a real mid-price differential to consider over the next few Gameweeks. With Clarke’s in-form side welcoming (RG, QPR, SOT) to the Hawthorns in the next eight and with trips to (ful, avl, wig) also on the agenda, his propensity to pick up the points could well appeal to those Fantasy managers looking for something different from the template midfields currently doing the rounds on site.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

This Arsenal GK situation does not bode well at all. It may become an issue. From the way Vito he has been talking lately he seems confident about keeping his place.. Using a transfer on a keeper is not ideal.

Hooray for the luck of the Irish! *The miracle of Kazakhstan*

    The second part of this post is for Irish TV viewers only ;

I loved Richie Sadlier taking on the Eamo role. Sack Trapattoni after we get a winning start to a qualifying campaign and leading us to the Euros (I agree btw). The look on Liam Brady's face was priceless!
Also, did anyone notice the three, yes three, stains on Johnny Giles tie?

Agree with RTE being great for Bill, Johnny and Eamon, and of course Apres Match being the best thing ever. I absolutely hate Richie Sadlier as a pundit though. He's got the most annoying voice and since when was he an expert on football. The WC qualifier campaign is going to end it tears inevitably, no way we're qualifying with Germany in there and struggling to beat the likes of Kazakhstan. It might be nice to see Robbie Keane finally be dropped and all the new younger players given a chance.

Think im in a minority but i like the idea of 3 big defs who play every week (then play 4 when fixtures are good). Downside to this is you lack the big hitter in midfield - Haz, Caz, Bale etc so on balance if somethings got to give then maybe it is that 3rd big def to improve the midfield

Hehe. There's always a 4.0 defender or two who's worth getting, usually takes a few games to spot them (Simpson, Swansea defs last season, Figueroa and Hibbert way back when).

Demel is looking like a candidate, Big Sam teams tend to be pretty defensive. Ben Davies, too, if he gets the starts.

I'm with you in that minority though. I was looking at the teams of the week last season, and a lot were 442 or 433, consistent CS's seem to me to be a little easier to predict than goals often. Vermaelen is staying in forver until he gets crocked, he's fantastic.

CONTROVERSIAL, no Messi or Ronnie in this UCL team! Crazy or ingenious? I genuinely am wondering....

Messi is an absolute monster but Hulk and Pato have so much quality 🙁 They seem like absolute bargains. I'm just hoping Messi doesn't score a hat trick in any group games. If he doesn't I reckon Hulk and Pato won't be far behind.

I have three children. I'm on my WC and they have all risen 0.1 so far during the international break.
There are some other kids that live on the road that also look like they they have the potential to make me a profit..but there's only so much room in my house.
    So, I have a problem.
I may need to ditch one of my own sprogs to ensure that the afore mentioned profit actually materializes.
Unfortunately this would mean that one of my little darlings would need to be shipped off to the orphanage.

The last one that arrived in my pre-season team is only 7 months old. I don't know her as well as the other two yet as all she can do atm is roll herself over, drink bottles and shit herself (she does have a killer smile though).
The other two talk and run around and stuff, so that's all good.

So, thoughts? Transfer out no.3 for an extra 0.1m on my WC? Thanks as always.

Time was when they'd all be shipped off to the workhouse. But no, we live in a time of compassion and enlightenment. Saying that, if you really are encumbered with workshy scallywags who'll never come to ought then good riddance, I say!
