The ScoutCast – Episode Ninety Five – Rush

Rush. The best form of goalkeepers for the playground. A long-haired Canadian prog-rock outfit. A mustachioed goal sniffer and, sadly, a description of how Granville and myself had to approach this latest episode of the podcast.

With our studio slot limited, we had to skinny things up and turn this one out double-time. Nonetheless, in 26-minutes, we touched on all the regulars, whilst scattering the silence in between with the usual sniping between the pair of us. It makes you wonder what we waste the other twenty minutes on every week.

Not to worry. Enjoy what you can of this little taster and look ahead to next week’s full-fat return, when we’re planning a new feature and a new voice.

Grab this fast-food snack via this link, or stream the quick chat via the player below….

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I have almost without exception done just that every gameweek. I haven't once had a situation where my transferred in player didn't play (that happened a few times last year with early transfers). So it's a good safety net.

On the other hand I probably have missed out on at least 1.5m in team value...

It's a balancing act, no doubt. I've done way more early TFs than I usually do this year and I'm still not pleased with my TV.
Got stung once (just this last GW) got O'Brien in early.

I personally reckon the cancellations will go like this. Press conferences reveal nothing. No news on Friday so the big Friday night price changes occur without knowing who's gonna play. Swansea cancel their game before the deadline because of the distance supporters have to travel. The rest of the Saturday games just about go ahead, except Brom because Steve Clarke fancies a rest for his burnt out squad and wants some players back 😉 weather eases up for Sunday and the rest of the games go ahead.

Wildcarding GW24/25 so can have a 1/2 GW striker punt up to 9.4m.

Genuinely considering. Papiss Cisse. Reading at home followed by Villa away, can't say the stars aren't aligned. Newcastle's only serious striker at the moment. Already has replaced demba ba once. OK, rest of team not in great shape but that hasn't been an issue for ba this year when he got his 13 goals. Dunno who's on penalties, but I'd guess it was him given it's quite difficult to name the rest of the front 6! One of Cabaye and Ben Arfa was due back soon if I recall correctly.

Plus, the usual argument about lack of value at 8.8m isn't too much of an issue for two weeks when I have the cash.

For me at least, I'm seeing him as a competitor to lukaku and Sturridge.

Please chose your best combo option for this front 8:

    Bale, Mata, Fellani, Puncheon, A
    RVP, Suarez, B

    Options [A]: Michu, Walcott
    Options [B]: Aguero, Ba

    Any other suggestions appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

who would u bench out of the following:

    Walcott Fellaini Noble Santi Michu

    Dzeko Suarez RvP

Would like noble to play for dgw: which leaves michu or fellaini imo.. but not a fan of dropping either!

Good morning DZers.. Trying to sort out my WC defense over here.

    So far it has been

    X - 3.9
    Evans - Dawson - Harte - Cameron - Y

    The combination is either
    a) X: Begovic, Y: O'Shea (or Kader or Cuellar whoever nailed on) or
    b) X: Mignolet, Y: Nelsen

A is pricier I know but I've had Begovic for a while now and he just gave me more confidence as a non-rotating keeper rather than Mignolet.

I've worked out the lineup for each fixtures and only found these difference..

    a) GK: Begovic (@ars) +
    Cameron vs WIG
    Cameron vs RDG
    Cameron vs WHM

    or

    b) GK: Mignolet (ARS) +
    Dawson vs nor
    Nelsen vs NOR
    Nelsen vs sot

SO basically it's either put all egg in one basket by doubling up Stoke defense (Cameron + Begovic) on those easy fixture OR
hedging by having 1 coverage on Stoke on those fixture (Cameron) and have those other players as the other defenders on respective weeks.

Sorry for the long question.. 😀

Wildcard is currently active. Worth tinkering around to improve Sagna to Gibbs? Sagna offers absolutely nothing at the moment and Gibbs is a serious long term option, not sure think Sagna is even at 5.1.

I have Gibbs and no plans to get rid. I always feel he just might get me a double digit score. Whereas I don't with Sagna.
It would depend who has to go to do it.

So glad I got to reply to this before sleeping. YES! Sagna is in some of the worst form of his life. Looks permanently damaged, not consistently getting forward, slow, indecisive. Would be surprised if he got any attacking points this week.

Gibbs has Andre Santos (and very occasionally Vermaelen moved out from CB) for competition. Rest easy.
