The Fantasy Flutter with Paddy Power – Gameweek 28

We came so close to a string of wins last week, with goals for Romelu Lukaku, Moussa Sissoko and Gareth Bale dropping in nicely. Sadly, consolation strikes from Sunderland, Southampton and Theo Walcott’s failure to assist in Arsenal’s win over Villa robbed us of some big profits and left Paddy Power grinning. Let’s see if we can take the smile off their face with this week’s Scout Pick inspired markets…

Javier Hernandez is perhaps a surprise inclusion in this week’s Picks selection, but we’re pretty confident that the Mexican will get the pitch time to inflict damage on a Norwich defence on Saturday, perhaps at the expense of Robin Van Persie. With Sir Alex Ferguson’s back four keeping three consecutive clean sheets and Norwich hardly prolific of late, Paddy’s odds of 5/2 on an Hernandez goal with a United shutout are understandably slim but, with confidence in the “little pea”, we’ll place £4 on this one with little hesitation.

Leighton Baines is a Scout favourite and was always going to find his way in the Picks with Reading visiting Goodison this weekend. With five goals to his name this term, Baines is always in the hat to fetch attacking returns – in truth, it’s been clean sheets that have been hardest to come by. Even so, with Reading without Pavel Pogrebnyak up front, Everton may well see this one out and Baines, with penalties and free-kicks, could also crash the scoresheet. Paddy have 10/1 on a Baines goal with an Everton clean sheet against the Royals and we’ll take that for £2 of our tenner.

Stephane Sessegnon was subject of a Watchlist article earlier in the week and almost broke into a highly competitive midfield five in this week’s Picks. A scorer at West Brom, Sessegnon’s goal denied us winnings last week so he owes us this time around. Paddy’s odds of 12/1 on a Sessegnon strike with a Sunderland clean sheet against a Fulham side who have struggled for a cutting edge, look tempting enough for us to part with another £2 of our cash.

That leaves another couple of quid for the weekend treble. With Luis Suarez highly fancied for his trip to Wigan and David Silva in the Picks off his double assist against Chelsea last time out, we feature them both as Paddy offer 9/1 on a Suarez goal at Wigan, a Silva assist at Villa (assists must be verified by Soccernet.com) and a United clean sheet at home to Norwich.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to Paddy Power, then you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

    Mark, does anyone actually bet these Paddy Power 'specials'?

    They are poor odds to be fair.

    Having clean sheet in nearly every bet is a put off for me, could be doomed after 1 minute or hammered in the 90th.

    Any chance of more without clean sheets?

      I prefer the odds on players to score twice, or teams to come from behind and win.
      In fairness Paddy predominantly has shite odds anyhow

        Alternative flutter:-

        Chelsea to come from behind and win 7/1
        Baines to score twice 30/1
        Sissoko to score anytime 5/1

        😀

      Couldn't agree more. And the odds are actually worse than if you we're to seek them out (on Paddy Power!) yourself. These bets with clean sheets attached are a waste of time.

    Shaw -> Wilson
    Punch -> Maloney
    Zabaleta -> Jose Enrique
    Fellaini -> Sissoko
    Sturridge -> Lambert

    Kinda doing a transfer just to not wast a FT. I have 5 not playing GW29 (RVP, Kun, Fell, Walcott, Zab) so I'm good for that week with 2 transfers next week. Atm im considering shaw or sturridge out.

          Looking at stats for last four matches, they are pointing at Bale in a BIG way. The bookies have them about the same odds to score, which actually points in Bales favour too since he get more points for scoring. That is two points for Bale.

          The opponents are somewhat equal, wigan is weaker but Bale has home advantage. Now 3-1 to Bale.

          Suarez has no competition from Sturridge most likely, so that's 3-2. Bale is playing in the hole most likely, so 4-2.

          Over the season, Suarez has been a lot more consistent,, so one point to him.

          All in all, Bale edges it for me, slightest of margins.

      I'm not, I think having him is enough of a differential. He could feasibly score 2 against Villa, collect 3 BPs and you'd have 15 points that almost nobody else has.

      But if he blanks and you have 4 (c) you'll be furious!

    Punch Walcott Fellaini Mata Michu
    RvP Sturridge Lukaku

    1 free transfer
    Really thinking of taking out A) Rvp> Suaez
    B) Lukaku> Lambert (-4pnt)
    C) Fellaini> Bae (-8 pnt)

    Taking out RvP had hurt me once but I need to make changes, not to happy with my team

    I looked up some odds on paddypowers just to help me make a few decisions this GW, will post here if it's of any interest. And YES, they are in decimals 😉 Lower is better (more likely).

    Anytime goalscorer
    Suarez 1.90
    Fellaini 2.10
    Michu 2.20
    Mata 2.25

    CS
    Stoke 2.50
    Sunderland 2.80

      Interestingly, the best odds for scoring I could see was Aguero and Tevez at 1.83 I think.

    IF
    Big if, I was going to take out Azpilicueta or Rafael this week, leaving me with Zaba and Davies 1st sub, would you rather bring in. New or Sun (i have Migs) defender?

    Considering Debuchy/Santon or Turner

      Debuchy from those, though I'm not convinced by Newcastle's CS potential. Not tempted by Enrique?

      Bale has much better form, however he has been poor at home all season.

      Mata has poor form atm.

      That being said i have mata atm with bale vc

    RMT.

    Bale 4.69
    Suarez 4.71

    😕

    Oddly it had chosen RVP (c) but only with a score of 3.93 - strange?

    Felliani (vc) at 4.67 - also less than those pair above - weird?!

      It's all about chances of starting/not playing at all.

      RVP has a low chance of starting, but if he does he'll get loads of points. If he doesn't there's a fair chance he won't play at all and your vc kicks in.
