The Community Round Up

Tottenham’s new recruits and the start of the Champions League group stages were among the hottest topics being discussed by the community over the international break. We also find out how FFS UEFA’s transfer window simulation game concluded and welcome aboard a new moderator to the Fantasy Football Scout team.

Hottest Topics

Tottenham have so many new arrivals following the close of the transfer window that it is hard to keep up with their likely starting XI. Luckily our resident video expert Brutus619 had his finger on the pause button to analyse attacking midfielder Erik Lamela’s displays and assess whether he is the real deal as a Fantasy prospect.

Robin Van Persie continues to divide the community, with one group of players set for glory, while the other bracing themselves for  disappointment. BigFatFrank has decided to give those wildcarders looking to shoehorn the Dutch striker into their team a step by step guide to creating the perfect RVP team. Meanwhile, 7 Shades of Smoke has ben debunking the popular “keep calm and captain RVP” mantra and wondering if it is nothing but a myth.

Elsewhere,Iain_90 ponders whether there’s any weight to the theory of “attacking coverage” across the most offensive teams or if it’s best just targeting certain individuals.

Bonus points and their sudden shine to defenders continues to dominate discussion. King Nemanja is so convinced that the recent glut of bonus points for defenders is no mere fluke that he is prepared to commit himself to a four at the back formation to ensure his team cashes in. For those wanting to follow his lead he’s come up with some great defensive line ups here.

The Champions League is almost here and in our discussion on the best options out there HeyDudes13 has some great budget options to consider  and Konig Luther’s lengthy list in this thread is also well worth looking at.

Worryingly for the community, international injuries have been mounting up this last week, with Liverpool right back Glen Johnson among those possibly destined for a lengthy stay in the physio room. Archie has been running the rule over the candidates who are likely to replace Johnson while he recovers.

Finally, Maxi’s top ten tips for mini-league success provided some useful, albeit sneaky and underhand, advice for winning a mini-league.

Community Leagues

FFS UEFA’s Transfer Window Simulation (TWS) game came to a finale during the international break with Norwich led by The Shadow being crowned TWS Champions. The rest of the top 5 was rounded off by PeppieandFelix‘s Fulham, Liverpool owned by 4vets, Arsenal guided by Zep and HVT‘s Aston Villa. FFS UEFA also tell us that places are still up for grabs in their FA Cup style game. If you are interested sign up here  by the deadline of 11:59pm BST, September 22. Those already involved in the FFS UEFA leagues and those who applied unsuccessfully to be a part of that competition have all been given an automatic space so do not need to apply.

I'm very up in the air in that regard, but currently I have Walcott, Coutinho, Ward-Prowse, Brady, and I'm taking Lamela for a test drive this week. We'll see if that holds until Saturday. I'm also interested to see how Eriksen does, and I'm curious to see if Yaya Touré is consistent or up and down this year.

Couldnt decide between Benteke and Soldado

Now thinking i might kick Giroud out and have both
    which do you guys like

    a) Benteke RVP Giroud
    b) Soldado RVP Giroud
    c) Soldado RVP Benteke

I dont like giroud. 3 goals with 4 on target. Last season 3.1 on target per goal and that is a normal average for a striker. I think he has been a tad lucky. Id have Sturridge over him as well. I cant see Giroud exploding even further so you probably will be able to get him if either of your choices fail.

The 13 shots on target are on a par with RVP. Now with Ozil, he'll have even more chances. I think this could be his breakout season.

Giroud had a great amount of shots last season too, his main problem is not being a good converter. 4 shots on target per goal and 11 shots per goal. This season 1.3 and 4.

And I watched all the games, his first goal was absolutely great, second goal lucky, third goal awesome but horrible defending from dawson. I predict even if he has improved these stats wont continue. He has a big problem getting his shots on target and I think this will continue.

15-17 goals max this season I cant see him matching the big hitters. But I could be wrong.

Main reason for that is his movement being too slow so a lot of his shots are headers or tough shots on the turn. But Ozil is a factor that is why I think 5-7 goal improvement is a realistic target for his ceiling

flipping heck , it so difficult guess there no correct answer except in hindsight.

Im leaning towards B mainly beacuse i would much rather watch totenham games than Villa ones, and Giroud is cheaper than Benteke

Also Solddo and Giroud both hve better fixtures , and im not convinced by Villa at home

    Early Bird Update

For those who have had a good start this season, this league is for you.

To qualify all you need is to have scored:

    67 in GW1
49 in GW2 with no hits or 54 with a hit. More hits equals higher score needed.
48 with no transfers in GW3 or 54 with a hit.

Code is 58-338 for those who pass these three points.
264 qualified. Plenty get knocked out each week.

    1) with Parr set to return, whose position will he take? moxey or ward?
    2) with GJ out, who is likely to take his position? wisdom? and would you bring him in?
    3) which combo do you prefer
    3A) Ivan + brady
3B) amorebita/fonte/wisdom + miralas...will only need the defender to play this gw and gw7

I would swap Agger out for a Chelsea or Arsenal defender since you already have Mignolet.

FPL seem quicker on the uptake when it comes to player updates.
According to them Sturridge will be fit for the pool match

Seems he cares more about his club than country

I've had Enrique and mignolet from day one so I'm keeping them in for now, plenty of clean sheets still to come.

Only one doubt over my WC team.

To Sturr or to Tekker it. Which one seems better?

Sturr plays for better team, in form and great fixtures, selfish style of play (good for FPL).
Tekkers is a beast, fixture proof and also on pens (downsize plays for Villa).

I like more Tekkers as a player in real life some maybe that will do it.

    Any reasoning to this?

RVP is better because of corners, FKs and Pens. Naah its Konstantin Vassiljev one of the best players of my national side(Estonia). The guy who just scored 2 vs Netherlands last week.
Every goal the man scores looks just amazing, hes got great tekkers for a guy playing agaisnt better opponents all the time. Just check out the goals vs Netherlands

Lamela, I'm not sure about because he's new.
