Scout Notes

Scout Notes – Gameweek 36 – Monday

Mesut Ozil serves up his second-highest Fantasy haul of the season, with a goal, assist and maximum bonus points as Arsenal sweep aside sorry Newcastle. Olivier Giroud also finds the net and provides an assist, whilst Laurent Koscielny delivers a double-figure return by firing the opener as the Gunners pick up their fifteenth shut-out of the campaign:

Ozil Turns on the Style
We’d highlighted the German as one to keep an eye on in last week’s Mission and he turned in his most impressive Fantasy showing since Gameweek 8 with a goal, assist and maximum bonus points in last night’s easy win. Whilst Aaron Ramsey’s bandwagon persuaded over 334,000 Fantasy managers to draft in the Welshman prior to the weekend deadline, Ozil was picked up by just 9,000 and vindicated his new owners’ decision with a 14-point haul against the hapless Magpies.

Arsene Wenger’s team are now four points clear of Everton with just a home game against West Brom and Norwich remaining, and despite the lack of a double, their chief assets could be set to deliver the points over that final pair of fixtures, with the Gunners scoring three times in each of their previous trio of matches. Looking ahead to next term, Ramsey’s presence in the first XI is clearly beneficial to the German – he has delivered 112 points in 17 appearances alongside the Welshman (an average of 6.6 points per game) compared to 19 points in seven matches (2.7 ppg) without Ramsey.

Koscielny a Key Differential
Owned by only 7% of Fantasy managers after a recent stint on the sidelines with a calf complaint, the French racked up the points with another commanding display. The 3-0 win saw Arsenal serve up a fifteenth clean sheet of the campaign, and with a goal and couple of bonus points also accrued, the 5.5-priced Koscielny produced a double-figure haul for only the second time this term. Koscielny has now equalled the 25%-owned Per Mertesacker’s two goals and has outscored his fellow centre-half by 23 bonus points to 21 – an average of 4.7 ppg against the German’s 4.4 ppg highlights his worth as a differential route into the Gunners defence.

Giroud Still Ticking Over
The much-maligned frontman was back in the points with a goal and assist as Arsenal condemned Alan Pardew’s side to a sixth straight loss. In a similar situation to the Ozil-Ramsey transfers in last week, Giroud was mainly overlooked as many Fantasy managers loaded up on Lukas Podolski but the Frenchman found the net for the third time in his last four home appearances to move into fourth spot in the Fantasy Premier League forwards standings – for all his frustrating flaws, only Luis Suarez, Wayne Rooney and Daniel Sturridge have earned more points. With City and United set for doubles, it’s fair to say that few will be looking to draft in Giroud in spite of his kind remaining fixtures, though some of his 21% owners may well decide to hold after last night’s haul.

Glad I got in Rooney last night even though his price wasn't said to be going up on tfpl

Now I can decide whether Coleman to Kompany is worth a (-4) as wouldn't have been able to afford it otherwise. Either that or play Flanagan, what do you guys think?

    Need some help here boys...

    Dilemma:

1: need to pick 2 defenders out of: azpilicueta, sagna, chester (dgw), Flanagan

2: need to pick 2 midfielders out of: Ramsey, eriksen, colback (dgw)

What do we think, i'll do a tally of the answers to help everyone, (mainly everyone pondering chester)?

    AJ Ramsey YYT NASRI
    ROONEY AGUERO Suarez

    Bench: Adrian BARDSLEY Mutch Dann

Already taken a hit for this team with 8 DGWs

Question 1: Should I play Bardsley instead of Ivanovic (vs Nor)? Will Bardsley even play?
Question 2: Should I take another hit to take out Bardsley for Alonso/Vlaar/Chester and play him instead of Ivanovic?

    Question for Aguero/Yaya owners:

These two are settled nicely into many lineups around here ahead of DGW, but if you didn't already own both and had to pick one, which would it be?

I'd have to ship out Suarez and/or take a -12 hit to squeeze in both. Instead, I'm leaning towards Yaya as the most essential, and having Wickham (or punt on Berahino) upfront instead of Aguero:

This would make Baines, Lallana, Lukaku > Evra, Yaya, Wickham my best move, or am I missing something?

    Current team:
    Mannone (Adrian)
    Baines, Azpi, Zabba (Ward, Turner)
    Lallana, Mata, Eriksen, Ramsey (Snoddy)
    Lukaku, Rooney, Suarez

I stupidly shipped him out last week - at least it was for (C) Rooney, so trade went well, but of course I should have shipped out Lukaku and left Dzeko in place for DGW!

That was unlucky (went with Luk > Roo(C) myself fortunately) but that doesn't mean you can't get him back right away if it makes sense. If you rate Wickham as a lot of folks do it around here - go for him. Although I'd always would chose Dzeko over him personally.

Playing for the title in the highest scoring team is preferable over somebody fighting for survival. But that's just me and I really haven't seen Wickham playing.

Sorry repost as bottom of last page, I am planning to sell Suarez this week to get one more DGW striker. But I will get him back with my FT on GW38.
    Which one would you pick?
    A: RVP + Demichelis
    B: Dzeko + Evra
C: Wickham + Evra or Demichelis
D: Jelavic + Evra or Demichelis
    D: Keep Suarez

I think Bardsley has lost his place over contract problems. He had refused to sign a new contract, though it's not over yet.

He has Gerrard, Sterling, Vlaar and YaYa...

I'll almost certainly be getting YaYa...but need to d'grade Coleman (despite him having an EVE defender) + do Gerrard -> YaYa.

Should i get Vlaar for the double to cover him or go with Alonso?

Also should i be planning for Sterling in GW38??

Both Vlaar and Alonso have iffy doubles. See if you would play one the following week. (Sun has the better game)

I will be getting Sterling for GW38 fir AJ. Ive had AJ for 5-6 GWs and cant wait to dump him.

Hmm, that's even more tricky than my situation...since you have Mata I would avoid playing Januz - who knows what Giggs is up to. That would mean your first option - but which 5.4 is worth it? Prolly Kolarov - but he won't play both almost certainly imo. Kosc?
