Scout Notes

Scout Notes – Gameweek 36 – Monday

Mesut Ozil serves up his second-highest Fantasy haul of the season, with a goal, assist and maximum bonus points as Arsenal sweep aside sorry Newcastle. Olivier Giroud also finds the net and provides an assist, whilst Laurent Koscielny delivers a double-figure return by firing the opener as the Gunners pick up their fifteenth shut-out of the campaign:

Ozil Turns on the Style
We’d highlighted the German as one to keep an eye on in last week’s Mission and he turned in his most impressive Fantasy showing since Gameweek 8 with a goal, assist and maximum bonus points in last night’s easy win. Whilst Aaron Ramsey’s bandwagon persuaded over 334,000 Fantasy managers to draft in the Welshman prior to the weekend deadline, Ozil was picked up by just 9,000 and vindicated his new owners’ decision with a 14-point haul against the hapless Magpies.

Arsene Wenger’s team are now four points clear of Everton with just a home game against West Brom and Norwich remaining, and despite the lack of a double, their chief assets could be set to deliver the points over that final pair of fixtures, with the Gunners scoring three times in each of their previous trio of matches. Looking ahead to next term, Ramsey’s presence in the first XI is clearly beneficial to the German – he has delivered 112 points in 17 appearances alongside the Welshman (an average of 6.6 points per game) compared to 19 points in seven matches (2.7 ppg) without Ramsey.

Koscielny a Key Differential
Owned by only 7% of Fantasy managers after a recent stint on the sidelines with a calf complaint, the French racked up the points with another commanding display. The 3-0 win saw Arsenal serve up a fifteenth clean sheet of the campaign, and with a goal and couple of bonus points also accrued, the 5.5-priced Koscielny produced a double-figure haul for only the second time this term. Koscielny has now equalled the 25%-owned Per Mertesacker’s two goals and has outscored his fellow centre-half by 23 bonus points to 21 – an average of 4.7 ppg against the German’s 4.4 ppg highlights his worth as a differential route into the Gunners defence.

Giroud Still Ticking Over
The much-maligned frontman was back in the points with a goal and assist as Arsenal condemned Alan Pardew’s side to a sixth straight loss. In a similar situation to the Ozil-Ramsey transfers in last week, Giroud was mainly overlooked as many Fantasy managers loaded up on Lukas Podolski but the Frenchman found the net for the third time in his last four home appearances to move into fourth spot in the Fantasy Premier League forwards standings – for all his frustrating flaws, only Luis Suarez, Wayne Rooney and Daniel Sturridge have earned more points. With City and United set for doubles, it’s fair to say that few will be looking to draft in Giroud in spite of his kind remaining fixtures, though some of his 21% owners may well decide to hold after last night’s haul.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

All comes down to the Everton game for City - and everton will still have 4th position aspirations.

Will be a cracker of a game.

But I think Man city will win out and pinch the league.

*Random and off-topic alert but I found this very interesting*

Having tasted victory in the last World Cup and two European Championships, the biggest threat to Spain this summer could well be complacency.

So, Spanish mobile phone operator Movistar decided to bring some of the Spanish players closer to their fans.

Andres Iniesta, Pepe Reina, Xabi Alonso, Santi Cazorla and Juanfran are all dressed up in disguise and sent out to regular, fairly menial jobs.

What ensues is a touching advert and undoubtedly one of the best we have seen in the build-up to the World Cup…

Is Baines, Lallana, Lukaku > Evra, Yaya, Wickham a good move, or am I missing something? (Can't seem to manage Yaya and Aguero)

    Current team:
    Mannone (Adrian)
    Baines, Azpi, Zabba (Ward, Turner)
    Lallana, Mata, Eriksen, Ramsey (Snoddy)
    Lukaku, Rooney, Suarez

(Half a repost - thanks if you've already helped with this)

I need £££ for Yaya. The only place I'm a bit bloated is Sir Leigthon Baines, so he's the one to catch a downgrade... the question is who to get in? I have 5.0M and I can't get another City player... so basically

    A) Rio Ferdinand (great fixtures, not assured starts)
    B) Alonso (okay fixtures and attacking threat, assured starts)
    C) Someone else at 5.0 or lower?

Anything to do? 1FT and 0.3 in the bank

    Mannone
    Zaba, Kos, Smalling
    Yaya Eriksen Mata Ramsey
    Suarez Rooney Aguero

    - Chester Cahill Sterling

Concered Smalling wont play both but would take a -4 to get Jones/ Evra in or could bring in Alonso but would be doubling with mannone...

Taken a -4 to get this:

    Mannone
    Azpi Alonso Ivan
    Eriksen Yaya Nasri Ramsey
    Rooney(c) Kun Suarez
    (Davis Punch Bruce Olsson)

1.0 in the bank. Would like to fit in Mata but would cost 8 points so maybe not worth it...

    Any advice?

Fielding the exact same folks (except Mannone and Alonso) for -4 as well. Mata -8 wasn't worth it to me but I don't really feel comfortable with it either. Fingers crossing's what I do.

    A or B fellas?

    A) -8 hit
Baines > Alonso (to free up cash)
    Gerrard > Yaya
    Rambo > Mata

    B) -4 hit
    Baines > Evra
    Gerrard > Yaya

    (already have Rooney, Aguero, Nasri)

Of that lot I'd bench Podolski. I agree that Eriksen should do well against West Ham...they are pretty indisciplined in the penalty area. Cabaye made mince meat of them earlier this season at home - they are not very good at dealing with tricksy midfielders.

It would be inevitable that Podolski gets a hattrick then after blanking this weekend 😉

Yeah that's what I'm thinking about West Ham, Eriksen will be the key to unlocking them and should do well, but I expect Arsenal to do well vs a leaky West Brom too..
