The Weekend Team News

Angel di Maria could be set for his United debut this weekend. Bojan Krkic returns to full training after recovering from a knock. James Collins joins the Hammers’ injury list after sustaining a hamstring injury, while Wilfried Zaha could be set to turn out for Palace if his loan deal is sealed in time.

Angel di Maria could be poised for his United debut at Burnley after joining from Real Madrid on Tuesday, though compatriot Marcos Rojo is unlikely to receive a work permit in time. Shinji Kagawa sustained concussion in the cup loss at MK Dons and looks set to miss out, with Louis van Gaal stating United now have 10 injured players as they head to Turf Moor.

Bojan Krkic has returned to full training after missing Stoke’s midweek cup match. Mark Hughes is without Geoff Cameron, though, while fellow right-back Phil Bardsley is a doubt – the summer signing has failed to train all week with a knee problem.

Mikel Arteta and Kieran Gibbs remain sidelined with injury as Arsenal head to Leicester. Arsene Wenger has also confirmed that keeper David Ospina in back in full training but is likely to miss out on the clash against Nigel Pearson’s Championship winners.

Sebastien Pocognoli (thigh) is a doubt for West Brom’s trip to Swansea with a thigh problem. Victor Anichebe is expected to recover from a groin complaint, whilst Gareth McAuley, James Morrison and Cristian Gamboa are all in the squad after featuring in the midweek cup clash with Oxford.

Sam Allardyce has confirmed James Collins has picked up a hamstring injury and is out of the Hammers’ home match against Southampton, while new boy Diafra Sakho is a doubt with a back problem.

The Saints, meanwhile, have a near fully-fit squad to choose from, with only wide man Lloyd Isgrove, along with long-term absentee Jay Rodriguez, ruled out by Ronald Koeman.

Cheick Tiote remains out for Newcastle’s home encounter with a hamstring problem. Jack Colback has recovered from the knock that saw him miss the Capital One Cup clash with Gillingham and, along with young winger Rolando Aarons, is in the Magpies’ squad.

Harry Redknapp has revealed Charlie Austin – who missed out last week with a hamstring problem – will be assessed again today before deciding whether the frontman can return to training. Alejandro Faurlin is set for an extended period on the sidelines after sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament injury in the midweek cup loss to Burton Albion.

Wilfried Zaha looks poised for his Palace debut bow at Newcastle after rejoining the club on a season-long loan deal yesterday. Joe Ledley could be set to miss Palace’s trip to Newcastle with the groin problem sustained in the warm-up prior to last week’s loss to West Ham. Scott Dann is in with a chance of recovering from a thigh knock, though.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official twitter stream as breaking news unfolds.

Point is Southampton have kept a clean sheet against a West Brom team who don't score goals.

                    West Ham scored three goals....

West ham won last time they played 3-1..,

Southampton have a team decimated by transfers

Why are they going to keep a clean sheet?

Ahhh ok. I was saying that Soton haven't looked poor defensively (watched the pool - soton match) but I see your point. The transfer are also for the long term and Southampton have good fixtures. Cheers for your input nonetheless 🙂

Herein lies the problem with the early wc andy. Hope you don't find your team buggered in two weeks time when the early season anomalous results and players become clear. The players from these results usually end up in early wc teams and people end up taking multiple hits over the proceeding gw's trying to set their teams to rights again.

And that's why they will be relegated again.

Look what Pochetino dude with Soton or Laudrup with Swansea... clever trades and hardwork team building rather than quick solution purchases.

QPR - when will they learn?

If you've owned Jovetic since GW1 fair play to you, but anyone buying him this week must be either really short sighted or have a perfect team otherwise.

I fancy him to continue to jsutify his price tag even through his next couple of tough fixtures.

So long as he's getting games, he'll definitely be in my team for 8.0 mill... Incredibly underpriced if he's in the first XI

i know hes a good player im just saying liverpool havent got going really, and with balotely and a new system would it make sense to make a move for someone who is firing? and come back to liverpool if and when they start playing well? so many new players it will take time to gel.

Same dilema i have with rooney, good fixtures, but the team hes playing for are not performing. do i get rid and come back when they are performing?

      Krul / Guzan

      Bruce / Dumett / jones / caulker / wisdom

      Ramsey / hazard / Henderson / davis / sigurdson

      Costa / sturridge / rooney

1 FT: bruce and davis not nailed on, caulker in a bad team, henderson too deep and costa's injury, which on should i get ride of?
      Or is WC time?

        hazard to fab.
        Caulker to clynne
        henderson to sigg
        Costa to jova

Money in the bank to switch back to costa after the international break.

team is fine for this week. Henderson has a great run of games after this one. Absolutely no need for a WC here.

Front 8 picks itself this week - Davis or even Wisdom is fine as a sub.

I'd use the FT on Caulker to someone else in that price range, whether it's a Southampton defender or elsewhere.

Don't think he plays the striker position well enough, would damage him as an option. Theo is all about speed and technique, he's brilliant at running by a full back and cutting in. As a striker, he needs to be muscling CBs off the ball and he isn't built for that type of hold up play you need from a lone striker.

Sanchez is our striker purchase IMO. I think Sanchez and Theo could be a good combo with Theo high if and when Sanchez drops deeper.
