Versus – Fabregas, Oscar and Hazard, Last Six Gameweeks

Four points clear at the top of the table and eight ahead of defending champions City, Chelsea already look to have a substantial advantage in the title race. Next up for Jose Mourinho’s men is a run of matches which looks poised to bring plenty of Fantasy investment their way – West Brom, Sunderland, Spurs, Newcastle, Hull and Stoke in the upcoming six suggests the league leaders should strengthen their grip at the summit.

When the campaign got underway, it was a two-way battle between Cesc Fabregas and Eden Hazard for our affections, but in recent weeks, Oscar has also thrown his hat in the ring. The Brazilian has now started each of the last six, and having served up three goals, an assist and seven bonus points over that period, has joined Fabregas and Hazard in the top ten of the midfield standings in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game. With this in mind, we take a look at the Blues trio’s displays between Gameweeks 6-11, allowing us to assess their current form ahead of such an enticing schedule.

Good to save if no injuries. If Austin can score against City Pelle could also.

Maybe its little too early to drop him.

Lads, which do you prefer, draft league:

    A) Forster Cabella
    B) Begovic Lukaku

FYI, Forster is the 7th highest scorer in the game (!)

Yeah, its close. Saints can't stop keeping CS's!

However, I'm acquiring Heaton as my 2nd GK and would probably rotate Forster with him somewhat which makes him more expendable if I can get a forward in return (I have Balotelli-Remy, not the most reliable). Begovic and Forster both rotate well with Heaton so it makes a lot of sense to downgrade Forster there I think.

Save FT. You'll be able to do much more with it next GW.

Fabregas>Oscar should be on your radar. Don't knee-jerk Pelle or Berahino out just because the mob are doing that, they're still great value.

Just the thought of not having Costa at home to WBA.. although, he is on 4 yellows, and it's highly likely he will pick up his 5th, so that's the only hesitation 🙂

In the case that I save FT, which 2 out of Chambers, Rose & Berahino do you reckon will score highest?

Don't bench Berahino.. its chelsea away but even austin scored there recently...

I'd flip a coin on rose and chambers. On the one hand Arsenal are at home, but Spurs play Hull, away though. Tough one. Fwiw, i'm playing Chambers, but thats ahead of Naylor and Wisdom

Isn't anyone a little interested to see how Southampton does first against the big boys before selling? (Pelle, bertrand, clyne owner)

I have Pelle, Bertrand and Forster..holding for now! MCI, CHE & MUN defense are not water tight, as has been shown in previous GWs, and Southampton have been impressive so far. Don't see the need to sell, just wait and see 🙂

Just making the point that I don't feel the need to knee jerk now, they still have Aston Villa, and I think it would be interesting to wait and see how they compete against the traditionally "big teams", as I don't think they'll perform as badly as many are predicting 🙂

Same here. Remember Newcastle last season? They had a run of fixtures in November-December that looked brutal, but won away to Spurs 1-0, at home to Chelsea 2-0, 2-2 with in-form Liverpool, and a few other great results....

missed the boat on baines? Fixtures not great

    West Ham H

    Hull H
    Man City A

    Southampton away another difficult one

I dont even think about the clean sheets with him, that's a bonus. Assists and goals, he is a midielder that gets 4 points for a cleansheet

      1. rickardinho
        • 9 Years
        9 years, 6 months ago

        Exactly. He's a 7.0m midfielder with 2goals 6 assists already... plus another 3 goals for 3CS's. Insane!

      • 10 Years
      9 years, 6 months ago

Regardless of whether Baines keeps a cleanie, he still has assists, pens, free kicks all in his pocket and is a bps magnet.. as was shown last week when his score dropped from 6 to 2, the horror, then he got a penalty and ended up with 11 points inc. bonus. He's a season keeper for me 🙂

Its a fair point. His attacking form is incredible though, 2 goals and 6 assists in the last 9, not to mention a missed penalty, and another goal and 3 assists in the Europa League. CS are a bonus on top of that, and with their home fixtures, I don't think I can ignore him.

They've already beaten us once this season in the COC with their full-strength squad. Give our defensive woes I see no reason why they can't come away with something again. Based on current forms I'd have to throw MU into the same category. Honestly think Chelsea may be the only difficult match out of that whole group and even there you'd think they could score give that QPR did. Think people rushing to fire sale their SOT players may regret it. May reward those of us patient to see what happens in those next three "difficult" matches.

Tough but I'd say play Rose and Bera. Hull can't score at all atm and Chelsea aren't the defensive unit of old. So Chambers out of the three seems the less likely to score points in a makeshift Arsenal defence against a top heavy, need to score more to win Utd side

I hate Downing for how he treated Villa...

      BUT

As a fantasy asset he is great value in an attack minded team. His stats are great and was a constant menace against us, he really should've scored.

I personally would want Eriksen out, Pelle out (though I'd want to wait till AFTER playing the woeful Villa) and want Costa in so the moves make sense to me

You can WC in draft leagues? How does that work?

You simply tinker using available players or make trades

I find that international breaks are the best times. There's virtually nothing to do with regards to FPL apart from monitor price changes (like watching paint dry), so I've become active with trading this week. Last international break was the draft itself, which was very fun 🙂

Who to score more next game week?

    Baines or Fab?

It all depends on whether Fabregas is fit or not, but would be tempted to say Baines!

            The situation is:

Want to get Baines in, and currently have two Sou DF's, so wouldn't mind swapping one out.

The trade I could make , would be Fab and Bert out, Siggy (MCI away) and Baines in.

Think the first option could score more next week of fab is fit.

and all the while Fabregas has ticked over nicely, and Oscar has come onto the scene right on time when Fab's form looks to be waning. 🙂

I will most definitely go Welbeck out to Costa, but that leaves my with 0.4 under the budget. So which one other FT would you do to accommodate? The defense is Naylor Duff and Bruce

    A) Clyne to Dummet (double up with Krul)
    B) Foster to a 4.0 and play Krul every week
    C) Clyne to Chambers
    D) Clyne to another 5.0

    Thanks

I'd be tempted to say B or C.

Personally I'm not a fan of rotating keepers, hard to predict.

But I'd also want rid of Clyne AFTER next week.

    Ok please help.

I have decided it's too costly (-8) to get Costa this GW despite his incoming Hatty and price rises.

SO... I'm keeping Pelle vs avl... but I do want Costa next week vs SUN.

To afford this I need to do Pelle & ADM or Fabs > Chadli. (-4) next GW.

SO my question is do I take out ADM (are) or Fabs (WBA) this GW for a hit so I don't need to take one next GW?

Chadli is about to rise in price too. And Fabs will fall in price this GW though I got him at £9m so that doesn't matter so much I guess.

I have been contemplating a similar scenario but I would wait and see with regards to Fabregas' injury situation. He has the more favourable fixtures and is uber consistent BUT has 4 yellows, is possibly an injury worry, and if you're getting Costa in, then you would have Chelsea attacking coverage if you lost Fab. ADM has struggled to produce as much in the non-diamond formation BUT could produce against the likes of HULL and STK at home, and in the long run I think could prove to be one of the key fantastic FPL assets.

      Wait and see... 🙂

        Thanks for the response.
I agree with all of that as I'm sure both ADM and Fabs will be get big points across the season. Just boils down to not being able to afford them all really!! Which means getting rid of the right ones at the right times, but this is a doozy for the reasons you stated above.

I was stuck in a similar position, but with Costa's mysterious price rise last night, it priced me out by £0.1...the beautifully frustrating FPL 😉

But I would be tempted, as I am doing also, to hold for now, assess the situation properly, and then make your judgement.

Fabregas is injured right now and possibly out and on 4YC's, and ADM has HUL STO next. ......you do the maths

Ahh but they are but minor things I believe. His 'injury' seems a very timely thing to bring up just before internationals (a ploy Mou and others often use) and 4 YC's still means he can play. And his next fixture is better than ADM's who seems to have lost his way to goal.

Thinking about Fab and Bert out for Baines and Siggy.

Although that forces Siggy into face MCI away...

No need to rush into it, save the transfer for now and wait and see with regards to Fabregas' injury situation then judge from there 🙂 IMO, would be a waste of 2 transfers for this GW with Fab and Bert's fixtures!
