Versus – Fabregas, Oscar and Hazard, Last Six Gameweeks

Four points clear at the top of the table and eight ahead of defending champions City, Chelsea already look to have a substantial advantage in the title race. Next up for Jose Mourinho’s men is a run of matches which looks poised to bring plenty of Fantasy investment their way – West Brom, Sunderland, Spurs, Newcastle, Hull and Stoke in the upcoming six suggests the league leaders should strengthen their grip at the summit.

When the campaign got underway, it was a two-way battle between Cesc Fabregas and Eden Hazard for our affections, but in recent weeks, Oscar has also thrown his hat in the ring. The Brazilian has now started each of the last six, and having served up three goals, an assist and seven bonus points over that period, has joined Fabregas and Hazard in the top ten of the midfield standings in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game. With this in mind, we take a look at the Blues trio’s displays between Gameweeks 6-11, allowing us to assess their current form ahead of such an enticing schedule.

Hazard, Costa or Aguero to captain this week?

Aguero is on form. You could say the same thing about costa, but I know he has a red card in him too. You can choose in terms of how many goals they can score, but a -4 would be too much to handle if it were to happen

Another argument for aguero is that he does really well on bps. Costa doesn't unless he scores twice, or the winning goal

Yea, good point. It's between Kun or Hazard for me imo.

Hazard does really well on BPS too, almost guaranteed 3 if he scores.

Because he scored the winning goal. If chelsea keep a cleansheet, he won't be high up the bps list

    Krul (Schmeichel)
    Baines, Kaboul, Chambers (Colo, Wisdom)
    Sanchez, Hazard, Siggy, Chadli (Boyd)
    Aguero, Pelle, Austin

0 FT, 3.4m in the bank.

Plan is to do Pelle to Costa next week, which leaves me with 0.5m, and then downgrading Schmeichel to Elliot the week after which allows me to upgrade Kaboul to Azpi.

Sound like a good plan? Or is there something else I should be considering..?

Morning all, haven’t posted for advice for ages so any input welcome. Currently in the top 5k so should be happy but feel this team is a little stale and in need of some new ideas.

    Foster/ Elliot
    Clyne/Wilson/NTaylor/Chambers/Hutton
    DIiMaria/Fabregas/Hazard/Downing/Boyd
    Aguero/Costa/Pelle
    0FT 0ITB

Have ideas of (over the next few weeks)-

-Hazard to Walcott, not this week
    -Elliot to playing 4.5
    - Wilson to another playing 4.5 or maybe even Dummet
    - May actually hold SOT players, MU and ARS not such ‘hard’ games in current form
    - Di Maria annoying me a bit for some reason but nice fixtures

    Any ideas gratefully received.

He might do okay with the fixtures but I can't see him being too prolific and he's tying up a lot of funds which are fairly scarce given all your big hitters. I think he's the logical one to make way but who knows

Who would fall in price the most if they started to fall? Clyne or Bertrand.
Clyne is the highest owned defender in the game at 31%, Bertrand has 21% and people bought bertrand -in general - a lot later than clyne

    1. BeachBadger

Hard to say a few weeks ago Bertrand seemed more attacking and poeple more inclined to keep him over Clyne. Does Cylne get more bonus points?

Clyne most likely. Although I wonder if more will sell Berty, percentage wise anyway. Impossible to predict really.

I'm almost sure that the maths of rises and falls are to do with rate of selling/buying. Anytime someone gets about 30k new buyers after a game they almost always rise

i don' think the yellow one makes a difference to the threshold, or at least not much. if anything it should drive the knee-jerkers to sell him more... ( i sold him too, but that was before he was flagged!)

Im considering it. I have the cash and 1FT left, but it mucks up my transfers for next week. Plus it does seem counter productive at the minute. I want to get Haz, but he's not getting any points yet and Fab is.

I own Hazard and its not a nice experience. It seems a great idea, he keeps you interested, teasing you with the odd goal, assist and pen but is happy to promise and not deliver in other games. I prefer the steady Fab over the flighty Haz and am actually looking to get rid of Haz in a few weeks time.
Hes a great player but frustrating to own

I think people bringing in Hazard now are looking at his form, and thinking wow, I think he'll score a goal or two soon. He certainly has them in him if you look at his previous seasons! I think Costa is the Chelsea attacker to own though. He is the focus of their attack.

Hazard = 200ish points the last two season, looking like kicking off now and on penos

Costa = one hot start in the PL but on four yellows and serious fitness issues

I wouldn't own both and the choice between the two for me is a simple one. Hazard is also a BAPs machine, OOP and cheaper.

Also Costa during the Xmas run up I can see being rotated more. Magnet for cards and a red or two this season is conceivable. Not involved enough in the game like Aguero to be nailed on for BPS which makes him not a strong captain choice either.

Personally I prefer to look at a PPG but removing the individual lowest and highest score as a better estimation of what you can expect a player to score in future. A great example would be Tadic. But similarly with Costa I think our opinions are biased for the two games against Everton and Swansea, these two games have contributed c.45% of his total score for 11 games.

haz 56, fab 63. Fabregas has 1 goal 9 assists, Hazard has 3 goals(1 pen) 2 assists . The probability points straight to hazard - he scores 15 a season, he has penalties. Fabregas says he is more bothered about discipline now than getting assists/goals.

I agree with you on Costa. He seems the best to have alright. Less worrying about will he/wont he do well. Im considering Fab to Haz soonish if haz takes off. As the saying goes 'Why not both?'

Anyone who things Siggy is miles better than Chadli (in FF terms) really should do more research.

In a way it is a similar argument to Fabs vs Hazard, but you can feel the general consensus on here shifting towards the midfielders with greater goal threat (of which Chadli currently provides best value in the mid price bracket)

With the turn of fixtures in GW 13 what should I do with my current defense?
    Krul Foster
    Baines Clyne Chester Vlaar Moore

No money left in the bank but WC remaining.
Are Yun Dummet and Naylor the options I should look at?

Appreciate any thoughts on this.. Thanks!

I'm just afraid of doubling up on Newcastle.. And Naylor is on 4 yellows. My life would be made easier if he gets another yellow this week 🙂 I'm thinking of Cresswell once I get rid of Tadic and get some funds.
Is it worth saving a transfer this week?

Similar D since I got Krul Baines Clyne and Chester too.

Those 3 you mentioned are high on my radar, as Chester replacement. Yun edges it for me atm since I'm not too sure with doubling up NEW D and I simply like Yun's fix and gameplay.

Yup I totally agree with you! However is Yun nailed on? He just suddenly appeared on my radar the past few weeks. Would you save a ft and use 2 next week if you are in my situation? Or should I get rid of Chester this week?

          • 11 Years

I have only 1 FT too, so we're in very similar situation.

I can't afford another price fall from Chester since I'm planning to do Fab -> Haz/ADM or Clyne->Azpi in GW13 or later. My biggest worry if Chester fall again, but I need to use my FT carefully since there could be any injury to my players over the int break. Decisions, decisions. But I'd probably do Chester to Yun anyway, befroe the deadline.

Sorry for the late reply! Was having lessons...

Yup both of us are caught in this sticky situation..I would prefer Chester to not drop in price, but I've no clue whether he is close to dropping atm. I'm surviving without Fab/Haz for the whole season so far, but dk how long I'll be able to survive without them.

Over the next 2 weeks : Clyne + Chester + Moore -> Yun/Dummet Chambers and Naylor?
How would that sound. I can well afford one more drop for Chester..

Dummet a good option if you don't mind doubling up on Newcastle. Naylor has good fixtures after soton but is more expensive. Wouldn't go for Yun as CS nearly impossible for QPR, unless you need a little more $$$.

Is it a good idea to double up on Newcastle? In your opinion. The funny thing is that I took Naylor out last week (had no idea what I was doing, and got Vlaar as I had to release the 0.1m for sanchez...)
I'm just trying to find a replacement for Clyne Moore and Chester. Any suggestions?

I still don't trust Newcastle, so I would advise against doubling up. Naylor would get my vote, but think he has 4 YCs so be cautious.

Clyne + Chester + Moore -> Yun/Dummet/Duff Chambers and Naylor?

Not sure whether to go for
            A)Yun
            B) Dummet
            C) Duff

and is Chambers worth getting? or it is a big risk and I should find someone else?

    Lost on last page

    My team:

    Foster (Mannone)

    Baines, Bertrand, Chambers (Moore, Hutton)

    Downing, Chadli, Hazard, Siggy (Boyd)

    Costa, Aguero, Pelle

    1FT, 3.1 ITB.

This week I am doing Mannone -> Krul.

Next week, I'm getting rid of Bertrand. I'm tossing up between Taylor (on 4YC but cheap and good fixtures) vs. Azpi (6 mill).

This would still allow me to do Chadli -> Sterling the following week (when Studge is back).

Thoughts? Should I bring in Taylor or Azpi?

Obviously this is subject to change but just planning ahead.

Taylor's fixtures are nice... There's a threat due to the amount of yellow cards though. Azpi has been looking solid and if you have the money it wouldn't be crazy to invest in the Chelsea defense (with the hope they start keeping cs) not looking at Walcott over Sterling?

What do people think is the smartest thing to do in terms of GK's..

    a) Cheapy: Guzan, Foster...

    b) Mid-pricer: Fabianski, Forster, De Gea, Adrian...

    c) Expensive: Courtios, Lloris etc..

Can people justify paying an extra 1.5m for a decent keeper or is it useless with CS's so hard to pick.

I was thinking of doing some coaching. Teach brats how to dribble - small touch, small touch, small touch, big touch when a player comes. The art of dribbling is the deception though. Merson would make really small touches as he got to a player at full pace, the defender would stop and be flat footed and he'd whizz past them.

Not bad at all! There was a low chance I'd make it big. Biggest shot I had was a trial for the LA Galaxy but even then the chances were low. I had a mate better than me that dropped it as well to go to one of the best business schools in the world.

Help needed. Happy to do an in-depth RMT for anyone who answers:

Have been offered a trade in a draft league:

    - Ramsey+Cabella for Coleman+J-Rod/Jovetic

    1. Should I accept it?
    2. J.Rod or Jovetic?
    3. Should I tty to trade Navas instead of Cabella?

    Forster Heaton
    Moreno Clyne
    Ramsey Gerrard Cabella Coutinho Navas
    Balotelli Remy

Replied above. If it is exactly the same scoring system as fpl, I'd accept. Coleman getting 6 pts for a goal is relevant though.

jutkiewicz, wickham,.. think wickham will get taken before me though as im 18th in the claim list and he's the best striker there is available, with leicester next

yeah i think someone has him under their couch in waiting already.. just the riff-raff left to scrounge on.

Arvin got Bojan and Stoichkov got Ayoze last GW though so there's always hope!

-0.5 per goal conceded, 6 goals for goal scored, 5 for mids, 4 for fwds... so same as FPL. only difference is 1pt for starting, 0 for sub appearance, and no assists on pens or rebounds i think

It depends who is in the free market, since jrod and jovetic are pretty much non entities. I'd probably stick actually, since there are usually a lot more defenders available than mids. Ramsey could come good and then you'd regret It

      No backup for Jovetic/JRod?
With everyone almost fit, Navas will probably be benched, so him instead of Cabella

yeah, thats what im thinking too...

@Nabil, would you accept Navas instead of Cabella? Giving up Cabella for an injured player who will most likely be benched feels abit steep

Answered above. That injured player is FPL proven, and could be heading to Spurs in January. He's supposed to be our ace up in sleeves. I think it's a fair trade.

Yeah, i tend to agree. I just don't like trading 2 sure-starters when I'm only getting 3 fit knees in return.

Cabella was 2nd highest scorer in ligue 1 last year so could well start to tear it up once Papiss/Riviere/Ayoze find their feet again.

I guess your reply on Navas puts it out of the question though

      1) accept - Coleman will be a fantastic asset throughout the year.
      2) Jovetic - J.Rod might not even get into this Saints team and I can see Jovetic getting plenty of game time and points over Christmas.

      Your turn: 😉

      Courtois
      Baines / Clyne / Saylor
Sanchez / Di Maria / Siggy / Chadli
      Aguero (VC) / Costa (C) / Sakho

      Albrighton / Moore / Wisdom
      1 FT / 0.2 ITB.

        3) both aren't nailed on. However, I can see Cabella playing more minutes than Navas when City have a fully fit squad. Trade Navas.

GK- expensive, but no reason to sell

Def- baines wisdom I like. Keep Clyne as well, no reason to sell, he scored at anfield and emirates and can well keep CS's against anyone.. good value. Saylor 3.9 is solid. Get rid of moore though asap, he's stinking up the joint!

Mids, very good. Keep as is, though I'd prefer a Chelsea mid like Oscar or Hazard over ADM... fixtures are great for the next 7, not just the next 2...

        Forwards.. amazing!

Is this okay transfers to make over the next 2 weeks to reshape my defense? Or are there better options? Would be able to get more $ by selling Tadic, but I don't want to sell him for a hit

Clyne + Chester + Moore -> 3.9-4.2m, Chambers and Naylor

    For the 3.9m - 4.2m
    A) Duff
    B) Dummet
    C) Yun
