Far from a tribute to Chris Martin’s middle of the road act, this week’s ScoutCast reflects on the sea of yellow flags that have flooded our Fantasy Premier League squads over the past week. You’re nobody unless you’ve collected at least four by Saturday morning.

The uncertainty caused by phantom international break injuries dominates proceedings as Granville and I mark a return to the studio. Whilst I start praying for Georgie Boyd to step up, my co-host begins his campaign to hypnotise me into getting rid of Branislav Ivanovic before he starts putting further daylight between our teams. I’m refusing to gaze into Granville’s eyes.

Elsewhere this week, we catch “Cup Fever” and resurrect the ScoutCast team. Sign up and you could soon have the pleasure of knocking Granville and I out of our own cup competition. Providing we qualify of course – that’s far from a given.

        got him at 7.1, so not too bad, selling price 7.2. Can get him back at not too heavy a cost, but essentially, it's -8 over 2 weeks to get Baines out and in again 😯

          Well...following this GW, their fixtures do take a considerable turn for the worse.

          Chelsea will only get better defensively (one hopes) and unfortunately, I assume, that you need to raise funds for it. Austin has some tasty looking fixtures over the next 6 gw's.

          It's an educated punt the transfers I mentioned. Each to their own though.

          I have Forster, Clyne and Pelle atm. Looking to ship them all out by end of next week. Looking at Costa, Azpi and Fabianski myself.

    So I have following non-playing/doubtful players: Baines, AdM,Tadic, Downing, Sakho

    Out of which AdM, Downing, Tadic should play leaving me with following auto subs:

    Baines -> Duff
    Sakho->CHambers

    If any of AdM, Downing, Tadic doesn't play, I will get Albrighton off the bench

    So, should I do Sakho -> Ings/Austin (will do tonight after the pressers) or hold my 1 FT?

      If you want to do a transfer I would suggest take Tadic out...ADM and Downing will surely play and Baines and Sakho are out for just a week..next week they will start...

      Do it. I like Ings as a gamble, but may be best to go for the safer choice in Austin. I have a strong feeling, one of downing or tadic wont play.

    Who's looking likely to play?

    Thinking Fab to Haz but this worries me as it means I'll not go for Costa. Too difficult to find funds. Thoughts?

    I know that normally people advise against it but with all those injuries and a weak bench the GW doesnt look to good

      A -8 for a weak bench doesn't justify it IMO, unless you can't field 11 players. Just not worth it, especially if short term moves

    What would you do with Eriksen is he going to get dropped now after coming off after 45 minutes in last 2 games, Boyd is my 5th midfielder.

    I don't really want to ditch him this week as next week hopefully can put Walcott in and lose Forster to make up the difference

    Food for thought for those Austin doubters 😉

    Here's a rough check at some notable English strikers who made the transition from Championship to PL and did fairly well.

    1. Andrew Johnson - Season 2004/2005 - 21 PL goals (11 from PKs; 7 he won himself).
    2. Kevin Phillips - Season 1999/2000 - 30 goals (BPL/European Golden Boot winner)
    3. Any Carroll (yeah, I know) - Season 2010/2011 - 11 goals from 19 appearances (although it's 13 goals in FPL, I don't know).

    I'm not saying that Austin will definitely follow suit, but he has similarities and advantages like some of them - PK duties, #1 striker and fighting for survival (obviously). All those 3 strikers went on to play for England, and same thing cannot be said of Austin. But still, he has some footsteps to follow and could possibly be good enough to get some England's recognition.

    I'm not saying this because I want to get him in, I'm just stating the obvious, his potential. Nevertheless, he'll be a great candidate for me if Pelle gets his dreaded 5th yellow 😉

        No idea, and I seldom wath him play. I might give a very limited sample (only 3), and must be lots and lots of English strikers who failed to make that ransition lol. But still, Austin is a decent to solid pick atm imo.

      He's a good option certainly. However take a list of some of the top scorers in the Championship over the past 10 years:

      Glenn Murray, Ross McCormack, Rickie Lambert, SEB (x2), Nicky Maynard, Peter Whittingham, Jamie Cureton, Marlon King, Nathan Ellington.

      Of those only Rickie Lambert had any success in the PL scoring wise

        Yeah, my sample is very small. SEB had a decent feat imo but not that impressive. But then those top scorers might find it hard to adjust to PL demands and arguably European/World class defenders, and eventually did not make the cut.

        Definitely! One to mention. My mind actually stuck to the early 2000s, and Carroll is a different case because he's still at West Ham, and still 25 (would you believe it), and he is Andy Carroll 🙂

    Clyne is leaving for one of the following:

    a) Naylor (already have Siggy and Fabianski so not sure on that)

    b) Clichy (unique pick and Kolarov out for a while yet)

    c) Azpilicueta (best team/draw - but will have to wait an extra week on Costa)

            Agree, but terry was the only one to start every game last season (I think).

            might even get lucky with a goal. Fair enough if you have the exact amount though.

              To be honest I cant see it them being rotated too much. Hopefully will have a solid defender to step in if it does happen. Terry starting to look a bit more like a goal threat alright and price is looking decent.

        Aguero has 70% ownership in the top 1k, vs 57% for Costa as of GW11.

      Same. I have a good feeling about Costa but the more I think about it the more sense it makes to captain Aguero.

    Will he outscore ADM this gameweek though? Fixture easier for Fab and ADM is playing in a weakened Man Utd team with no Blind etc..

    Morning guys,

    Like everyone I have a couple of injury doubts which has scuppered my plans to hold my transfer this week.

    My doubts are Tadic & Sakho, in which instance I only have Wisdom (chelsea away) & albrighton (unlikely to play) to come in. My other sub is alcaraz....

    what option do you think is best, bearing in mind i have only 0.2 in the bank so subs needs to be like for like:

    a) Sakho > Austin
    b) Sakho & Albrighton > Austin & Boyd for a hit (I need to ship albrighton ahead of the xmas period anyway so doesn't make too muchdifference if its this week)
    c) Save transfer and hope for the best

    I'll be waiting until the end of the day today for more news but assuming nothing changes on the news front what would you do?

      On average, for me anyway, points hits are not as good as biting the bullet. Most people have the same dilemma you will do to stick or use 1 tfr. I would go for a). Costs nothing and reducing risks.

      There are plenty of decent 3rd striker options for significantly less than Rooney. I'd rather have ADM and one of those instead of Rooney and a cheaper mid.

      So I'd go B.

    Morning gents, am in a real quandary regarding this lot:

    Kurt/Foster

    Clyne/ Baines/ Chambers/ Dummett/ Caulker

    Fab/Rambo/ADM/Siggy/Chadli

    Pellé/Kun/Vardy

    Two FTs and 0.8 ITB.

    Considering Rambo to Downing and Pellé to Costa for free but conscious of no attacking Arsenal cover and getting rid of Pellé before AV. I've enough in the bank to wait a week for the Costa transfer.

    Any help is appreciated. Cheers.
