The Weekend Team News

Stewart Downing returns to training for West Ham, though Sam Allardyce still has doubts over a handful of regulars. Jack Wilshere is out for three months with an ankle injury for Arsenal. Newcastle pair Fabricio Coloccini and Steven Taylor return to training but Tim Krul is doubtful. Saido Berahino is fit for West Brom after recovering from a minor hamstring problem, while Stoke are hit by a virus ahead of the trip to Liverpool.

Arsene Wenger has confirmed Jack Wilshere is set to be sidelined for three months after undergoing ankle surgery. Mikel Arteta is also ruled out for the Gunners, whilst Wojciech Szczesny has failed to train and Yaya Sanogo “has problems” with the hamstring injury that forced him off in midweek. Danny Welbeck is set for a fitness test later today on the knee problem that forced him to miss the win over Dortmund, though Theo Walcott remains sidelined with a groin problem.

Villa’s injury room remains packed ahead of their trip to Burnley. Paul Lambert has confirmed that Ron Vlaar, Philippe Senderos and Nathan Baker are all still absent due to injury.

Scott Arfield and Nathaniel Chalobah are both available for Burnley available for Burnley’s home encounter after recovering from a knock, though Sean Dyche is still without Sam Vokes and Matt Taylor as Villa roll up to Turf Moor. Michael Duff is rated “touch and go” after being forced off last week with a calf complaint.

Palace will be without the services of Damien Delaney for the next couple of matches. The central defender sustained a calf injury at home to Liverpool last time out and has an “outside chance” of making the Gameweek 15 clash with Spurs, according to Neil Warnock. The Palace boss has also confirmed Adrian Mariappa “might be out a little bit longer than Delaney” with the knee injury sustained in training last week.

Everton midfielder James McCarthy will be assessed after limping out of last night’s win over Wolfsburg with a recurrence of a hamstring injury. Aiden McGeady recovered from a weekend illness to play the full 90 minutes.

Hull are without frontman Abel Hernandez for the next two league encounters as he has returned to his native Uruguay for the birth of his child. Steve Bruce will welcome back Mo Diame, though, after the midfielder overcame the knee problem that forced him out of last week’s encounter with Spurs.

Marcos Rojo has returned to training for United, though it remains to be seen whether he’s fit enough to be considered this weekend after a recent shoulder injury.

Alan Pardew revealed Fabricio Coloccini, Steven Taylor, Cheick Tiote and Emmanuel Riviere have all returned to training for Newcastle, those was somewhat coy on the quartet’s availability, saying “I don’t want to give too much away”. The Magpies manager is confident that young winger Rolando Aarons will be back next week and also confirmed Ryan Taylor is out for only three-to-four weeks after sustaining a slight knee problem last weekend. Tim Krul is a doubt for the trip to West Ham, however, after picking up a training ground knock.

After serving a three-match suspension, Rio Ferdinand will be assessed for QPR’s clash with Leicester. Harry Redknapp is hopeful the defender will be fit, though the Hoops boss ruled out Adel Taarabt once again, admitting “He’s still not fit and still not training”.

Mark Hughes has revealed Asmir Begovic, Geoff Cameron and Phil Bardsley have all picked up a virus that is sweeping through the Stoke camp. The Potters hope to have Marc Wilson and Erik Pieters back in time for their trip to Anfield after both missed out last week – Hughes went on to reveal that Wilson has returned to training, while Robert Huth is closing in on a return from a calf complaint.

Saido Berahino is in contention for West Brom after overcoming a “minor hamstring” problem according to Alan Irvine. The Baggies also has Sebastien Pocognoli back for the visit of Arsenal, while James Morrison is hoping to recover from illness.

Stewart Downing and Cheick Kouyate both returned to training for West Ham yesterday, Sam Allardyce has confirmed. The Hammers boss admitted he’s less positive on the other three players – Alex Song, Enner Valencia and Diafra Sakho – that missed out last weekend, though he reckons Mark Noble “might” be back in contention after being forced off in the 2-1 defeat at Goodison.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream as breaking news unfolds.

No I didn't to be honest - but I thought he might have an ounce of respect for our club not to act the way he has.

He has literally come in, brought us loads of unwelcome media attention, results aren't going well on the pitch and then mid season decides to quit on a Friday morning with no warning, no chance to get someone in etc

        Just poor really !!

Stupid to have hired him. If I was to name one person in football who absolutely couldn't "manage" people in the purest sense it would be Roy Keane. It hasn't, and never will work out for him managing anybody.. Not even the local corner shop.

Good low ownership mid priced midfield punts right now that aren't flagged:

    Fellaini,
    Ox,
    Walters,
    Sissoko,
    Mirallas.

    Agree? Disagree? Missed any?

    Decision time

I've Costa / Aguero / Austin up front

Do I take Aguero out for Rooney? Two home matches and famous for his scoring streaks....Aguero in great form though...

That or take Sanchez out for ADM...

    Thoughts

    1. Mr Blue
      • 13 Years
      9 years, 5 months ago

None of them, Keep Aguero and Sanchez imo. Great form, y transfer them out? If anyone should go it should be Costa (if u have Fab/Hazard?)

      1. dynamo_loco

MF - Cesc, Downing, Sanchez, Tadic & Jedinak

Hmm.. yeah I was mulling over dropping Costa (even thought he 1st GW Captain in poll) for Rooney. Can see Rooney hitting form...

        1. Mr Blue

Can u afford Cesc - ADM somehow? That would be a good transfer imo.
See my answer below regarding Rooney, I could be wrong (ofc) and he hits a streak now.. but theres really not too much that suggests it tbh

Think you're placing too much stock in United's quality. Yes both ADM and Rooney could do well over next couple of gameweeks but not at the expense of the best striker and midfielder in the game respectively

      1. Mr Blue
        • 13 Years
        9 years, 5 months ago

        This

I dont get the Rooney hype tbh. Plays way too deep, have like 2 touches in the box (per game in the last 4) and 1 shot in the box per game (again, last 4).
ADM is a good option, will probably play pretty much as a striker (higher than Rooney), but absolutely not for Alexis.

      when fit

      DEF: baines
      MID: sanchez
      ATT: aguero

currently they should be in your team whenever they are fit. U should build your team around them..and not trying to take them out for utd who has not shown the expected quality

      1. dynamo_loco

Thanks lads, probably will stick with them for this week... would like to get Rooney or ADM in for next week though.

Sanchez is in great form alright, but the gooners away form is hit & miss... W2 D2 L2! He's scored 4 in 6 away games. Aguero done well though 6 in his last 6 away matches...

Rooney has 6 goals in 4 games against Hull.... that is why I'm giving it thought lads 😉

Keeping this week, because City are leaky away from home. If he blanks again, I'll consider selling if someone else hits form (Giroud the standout I have my eye on). But United followed by Burnley and Everton is a run he looks good for.

was thinking of getting rid of those two. why do you suggest heaton and austin though?

Heaton given fixtures and save points
(If u take fabianski..u use up extra .6 million )

Austin given sakho is injured and coz Austin has been by far a strong player in the last 4-5 games....

If u bank enough money..u could maybe upgrade pelle to someone better than bony..given u already have siggy

If it helps RMT has foster coming out best for next six weeks of all the keepers under 5.

Forster out and maybe tadic if you know a decent replacement. Or if you're happy with Forster upgrade Wilson/Clyne to Azpi

LOL I think it's free to be fair, just the hassle of Big Sam emailing you every five minutes wondering why you'll not impressed with 42 crosses into the box?
