FFS Cup

FFS Paddy Power Cup X – First Round Draw

Today, we bring you the draw for the First Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup X, as sponsored by Paddy Power, after the qualifying rounds for the competition took place over Gameweek 13 at the weekend.

First of all, entrants with a score of 44 points or more have earned a spot in the First Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup X. If you scored 44 points, it was then down to overall rank to decide whether you progressed. As usual, then, the standard was very high – just ask Mark – he’s been knocked out in qualifying with 41 points.

While Mark fell at the first hurdle, Granville’s lineup progressed and he’ll face juramentardo in the opening round, which takes place this weekend. Mark does, however, live on through his combination ScoutCast team with Granville – that lineup made it through with an impressive 62 points and will face off against Clueless XI in this round – a suitable opponent.

Our reigning champion, Gribude is, of course, one of the former winners who earns a bye to the first round and he’ll face deporhostia in the opening round as he bids to become our first to successfully defend their crown. Others taking on former cup champions include confundido who takes on some chap called Jonty, while AmberGamer who faces ex-champ donnellyC.

There are no less than 14 top 100 managers in draw, including the current FPL world number one rayvas – definitely a name to avoid should he make it past pkilleen in this first round.

Other eye-catching encounters are Laurel Hill‘s tough tie against Fantasy Football Scout moderators and contributors league leader Tinkerman, who is currently 270th overall, our moderator Greenwindmill’s battle against Canary Wharf, and Cobblersnz’s match up with our team news man Demi.

There are also some notable match ups between well known community members with Sporting facing Davysteen and  4Vets against 1966 was a great year…

Good luck to those involved in the weekend’s action but for those that missed out this time, there is some good news as we  aim to run another Cup competition from March next year.

In the meantime, though, if you’re looking for more information on the Scout Cup schedule and prizes available, click this link for a more thorough rundown.

Solid enough, I'm not a fan of these kind of bets though esp. a sum like 50 quid. More efficient ways to gamble if you must.

Not looking to start an argument just want a genuine answer. How do the FA have the rights to stop someone working and fine someone just for for remarks they make on a social networking website. Is it not breaching their freedom of speech.

It does but they did QPR a favor there as well. 😆

You have to look at it in the context of risking the broader image of the league and clubs.

I worked in a job where I was required to follow similar guidelines. The employer has every right to require it if you agree to sign on the dotted line and continue to cash the checks.

They represent the club not the FA. It's just usual for the FA to make money of nothing worse than speed cameras.

                  You've lost me now.

Do you really think it's important that Balotelli is allowed to be a bad example for impressionable kids everywhere?

Not just Balotelli but there are adult fans as well. It's ultimately down to the Parents to stop them being racist not what footballers are doing.

                      That's very naive and idealistic.

If you want to work a grownup job with grownup wages I know it's a shocker but you may be required to act like a grownup.

I think this is good point, always find it amazing that laws get ignored in football when it suits.
Teams who happy to fine players crazy amounts for anything but want to go to the highest court when a governing body upset them.

with the rediculous wages they get comes responsibility to be professional on and off the pitch. If i tweeted somthing racist (not that i would ever turn into that kind of scum) or abusive and my work found out, i would be sacked

I hate the FA they are jokers and bullies but in this instance i think they are perfectly in their rights

Agree. Racism is heinous and should have no play in football, or sport in general, but comments made off the pitch by players in their own capacity qualify as free speech.

Freedom of speech only protects you from the government blocking your ability to talk. The FA, like any employer, has the right to enforce whatever its rules are to the people who work under it

      1. Obi Wan Elokobi
        • 12 Years
        9 years, 5 months ago

But am I not wrong in saying the FA employ the clubs and the clubs employ the players. It should be down to the clubs to fine the players if they deem necessary.

You could be right from a technical standpoint there; I'm not 100% certain on how the FA is structured personally. I only object to how you're classifying "freedom of speech" as a concept. Nothing worth bickering over, but I see this argument a lot in my field

    On Sterling's "ankle injury" tweet.

Its a joke because he was getting kicked pillar to post yesterday but the ref did nothing and let it happen all game. He was subbed off late on but was absolutely fine.

However, he might be rested against Sunderland, don't be surprised if he is.
