Injuries

The Treatment Table – Gameweek 32

We take our usual Sunday evening look at the weekend’s new injuries now, with Chelsea’s concerns up front increasing after Loic Remy picked up a muscle problem in training yesterday.

Aston Villa
The injury worries continued in defence for Tim Sherwood after Ciaran Clark was forced off early on in the 1-0 win over Spurs. Sherwood is also sweating over the fitness of Gabby Agbonlahor up front, after the forward was also replaced at White Hart Lane. After the match, the Villa manager admitted the pair are likely to miss next weekend’s semi-final with Liverpool:

“Ciaran has come off with a knee ligament injury. He’s not had it before. It’s the first time this season we’ve had to name an unchanged team so it’s something we’re getting used to. Gabby’s tweaked his hamstring. It looks like (they will miss Sunday). It’s a real shame as it’s a massive day out.”

Chelsea
Loic Remy missed today’s trip to QPR after sustaining a muscle injury in training yesterday, Jose Mourinho has confirmed:

“Remy got a kick in training and the muscle is sore. We never cry or complain, we just trust the people on the pitch”

After the 1-0 win, the Blues boss was optimistic that the Frenchman will be back in time for next week’s home clash with United:

“Remy has a small injury. I think he should be available for the next game.”

Crystal Palace
Left-back Pape Souare was forced off early in the 4-1 win over Sunderland due to injury.

Everton
Leon Osman is set to be assessed after sustaining a groin injury during the Toffees’ 1-1 draw at Swansea yesterday lunchtime.

Manchester City
Reports suggest Vincent Kompany was withdrawn at half-time due to a thigh complaint in City’s loss at Old Trafford.

Manchester United
Michael Carrick was forced off towards the end of this afternoon’s derby win over City, with his withdrawal leaving the hosts with just ten men. Post-match, Louis van Gaal revealed:

“At the end, Michael Carrick needed to be changed but I could not substitute him. He was very wise to step out of the game with my permission. I hope he is not injured.”

QPR
Armand Traore was initially named amongst the subs today but withdrew from the squad after sustaining a knock during the pre-match warm-up.

Stoke
Victor Moses and Marc Wilson were both replaced during the Potters’ weekend draw at West Ham, with Mark Hughes confirming post-match:

“It looks like Victor has pulled his hamstring. It looks like it is in a strange position as it seems to be right behind his knee, which isn’t the normal position you usually get hamstring injuries. We will get it checked, it may be something that isn’t to do with the hamstring so it could be that we get good news. If it is a hamstring, then it could be that we lose him for a few weeks…Marc got a bang right on his hip, fair play to him he tried to go out for the second half and see if he could make it work. Sadly he couldn’t loosen it off and had to be forced off unfortunately.”

Swansea
Bafetimbi Gomis lasted just 17 minutes of Saturday’s early kick-off against Everton before limping off with a hamstring problem, Garry Monk has confirmed:

“Bafe felt a tightening of his hamstring. He will have a scan. Hopefully it’s not too serious because we don’t want to lose his quality, and we’re already quite thin on the ground.”

Fellow forward Nelson Oliveira missed out with a twisted ankle sustained in training.

West Ham
Sam Allardyce’s options up front could be somewhat limited heading into the weekend trip to City after both Diafra Sakho and Enner Valencia picked up injuries in the weekend draw with Stoke. Post-match, the Hammers boss confirmed:

“Enner was never going to be able to play the full 90 minutes, but he got a kick as well and we’re hoping it won’t be enough to keep him out for next week, because Diafra will definitely be missing. If it’s a thigh strain, depending on what grade it is, it could two weeks or it could be him missing the rest of this season, but we will wait and see. That leaves us very short on the front line with Andy being out, and means goals will be fewer and farther between than they used to be, so if we don’t get that defensive side right then the last six games are going to be tough for us.”

Have 1FT left... Is this team good enough for this upcoming GW? Should I be keeping hold of Remy?

    Krul
    Clyne - Alder - Moore
    Hazard - Fabregas - Silva - Eriksen
    Kane - Aguero (c) - Remy

Ospina - Moses - McAuley - van Aaholt

    1FT, 2.3 in the bank

Not many other options for that price, Stoke or Newcastle punt I guess as Southampton and Spurs haven't been scoring too many, but would still go LEI

What to do with 2FT - likely to WC next week so who's best 2 player to take a 1 week punt on?

    Krul*
    Dawson* / Terry / Clyne / Toby
    Silva / Eriksen / Hazard
    Remy* / Kane / Aguero

    Bench - JWP* / Sanchez / Hutton* / Panti

    £1.2m in the bank

Thinking JWP to Bolasie and benching Dawson for 1FT. What are people in a similar situation doing?

    Cheers

    Repost...

    Remy & cazorla ---> Murray & fabregas (-4)

Means I get rid of the uncertainty of remy and cancel my ML opponent with these players.

Seems best all round. Never comfortable with remy decision and this week vindicated it. Was only saved by oppo choosing wrong captain.

Remy is expected to start against United. Keep him surely unless we get more info on Costa's likely return date.

Nah. Too many differentials. I have the lead in my ML and fancy fab to get more points than remy. Murray is red hot also and a valid candidate for the (c) next week.

Fair enough. Will certainly be the right call if Costa returns in the DGW. Set pieces will be a big deal for Chelsea in the next couple of fixtures too I feel.

So west hams sakho has caused me a bit of a headache. This is my current team:

    Adrian
    Alder Terry Fonte
    Puncheon Hazard Silva Eriksen
    Sakho (inj) Kane Kun

    Hamer Sterling PVA Naughton

My plan this week was to do fonte -> ivanovic so I'd have a full team playing and then next week I'd have done eriksen to either coutinho or henderson.

Sakhos messed this up so do I now go Sakho ->

    A: Nugent
    B: Vardy
    C: Remy

Do we expect Clyne to get his place back?! I really don't want to have to sell him.

Hey guys, is it better to..

    1) Rid Giroud or Hutton this week

    2) Save and get 2 FT next week and get in double Liverpool players

    Hi All,

Considering the lack of games, I can field the below team. (luckily 11 players).

    Keep: Davis K.
Def: Rose - Bertrand - Terry
Mid: Mane - Eriksen - Walters - Hazard - Silva
    Att: Remy - Kane

Bench: Mignolet - Sturridge - Belerin - Monreal

    0 FT's & 3.6 million ITB.

Any advice/comments on the below are very much appreciated:

    A. Would you take a hit to change any of the team fielded?
    B. Next FT I want to bring in one more Liverpool player (in midfield) so I can field 6 DGW'ers. Who should I bring in? Couthino, Henderson or Sterling?
    C. Any long term adivce given the run in of games? (Arsenal DGW for example)

Thanks for reading and aprreciate any feedback!

p.s. I have been reading this a few weeks now, and this is my first post, hehe...

Best Combo of this lot for 1 Week.

    1. Baines, Murray
    2. Baines, Bolasie
    3. Bolasie, Murray

    Caveats.
If going with Murray, I ll need to sell Giroud at 8.5m
If going with Baines he will replace Rose.
