The Big Numbers – Gameweek 34

Our attentions turn to the weekend’s matches as we delve into the data this evening. We cast an eye over Villa’s in-form duo, assess a couple of Sunderland prospects and analyse the goal threat of Hull’s weekend hero and Liverpool’s little Brazilian as the two go head-to-head at the KC tomorrow.

How much rotation do we see from Wenger in the coming weeks.............?

    Monreal nailed?

    Welbeck to get minutes?

    Wilshire to feature?

Contemplating a punt for my 3rd Arsenal punt, but unsure of what to expect fro Arsene!?

I personally think that Monreal is nailed, Welbz will get some time but may be benched a lot and l would steer well clear of Wilshere personally.

I'm starting to think 2 defs and 1 mid. Like we did with Chelsea. Seems safest option

Is Monreal going to play regularly or will Gibbs get gametime?

Monreal is defo nailed on imo. Gibbs might get played in match 2 of the DGW but l could defo see Monreal playing every game left

I hope the vardmeister plays... He's on my team. Sounds like he may not though based on persons comments about resting players and vary getting injections before the last game.

Was just taking a look at Kenneth Tang's team (#4 in the career HoF), and wow what a WC he played this week - http://fantasy.premierleague.com/entry/213258/event-history/34/

71 points, 11 DGWers, and subsequently halving his rank getting into the top 10k, at 5k now. Set-up perfectly for DGW 37 with Sanchez, Giroud, and Ospina in place plus Alderweireld to boot. Damn, that is impressive. Also impressive, he shat on Gw31 with 108 points, and halved his rank that week to 15k.

    Has he ever posted here?

I've given some space to Raspberries and strawberries, hoping for great things from them this year. Autumn raspberries. Fingers crossed, my garden is like a wind tunnel where they are but it's worth a shot.

Honor Blackman, Diana Rigg (Emma Peel) & Linda Thorson were in The Avengers.

The New Avengers featured Joanna Lumley (Purdey) and Gareth Hunt (Gambit).

Patrick McNee (John Steed) was the lead character in both.

Clawed an 80 point deficit down to just 3 in a month

If I pull off victory this year I think it's definitely time to give up, not sure I'll ever beat my highest rank, or top this for a comeback.

Nah, not enough reason to quit. I've only had 1 top 10k in 5 years. But still enjoy FFS, probably a bit more than FPL itself!

            this is just it

            a) My enjoyment of FPL is decreasing, feel like it's dominating my life (i.e affectong my mood etc) and it shouldn't do that

            b) I'm enjoying FFS less. I can deal with the lighthearted stuff from people like you or Demi but there's too many people in here with attitude/ my mother doesn't show me enough love problems who seem to want to dictate what people can and can't post.

              a) yep , I've felt that too a bit this season. Affecting my mood, but not my life 😉
But real life usually catches up again and I forget the pain and look forward to the next GW!

              b) take a break from FFS over the summer. No WC/ EC etc. ideal time to do it and come back refreshed!

B is a good point, but sadly those posters will still be here if I came back.

as for A I think maybe I just need to remember why I started playing FPL in the first place and go back to that.

easy, just do what I'm doing now..don't think about your own team at all until Friday..ignore prices, ignore heavy planning and multiple drafts. on Friday do a bit of recon, go with your gut and make your changes over the course of an hour.

spent all season thinking about too many contingencies, doubted myself regularly and made last minute swaps on captains, got talked into terrible transfers and found myself at 200k.

last 3 gameweeks just casually chatted in here during the week because the community is fun. I absorbed but didn't plan for my own team. and then on Friday actually did my transfers in a matter of 10 minutes or so and got on with life and I've moved up over 100k places..

I'm expecting the Moreno no show

Sterling haul is what scares me

But given Pearson has talked of sacrificing the Chelsea game to keep his key players fresh for matches v teams around them, Hazard could go nuts

        Hull don't have that luxury

I actually think both games will be really tight.
Pearson to field 10 reserve defenders and Kasper as things stand, and Hull will sit deep with no striker against them

Seems a pretty good set up actually ... Similar to mine except i had only 10 dgwers + aguero.

Then the plan for gws 35,36 and 37 was to bring in 1 player each week from ars/sun so that would have the maximum 6 dgwers for gw37.

Looking at his team, looks like he will bring in pva, defoe/wickham and probably a sun mid (larsson?) in the next 3 weeks ...

I went on holiday to Cornwall in 2011, so sort of in the same neck of the woods. ish.
So, I feel I'm eminently qualified to answer this one.
      Emmm, not sure.
I am old enough to remember 'Arry beating United in the FA cup when they were holders. That was good 🙂

        Cornwall's miles away. Haha. 😀

Lovely part of the world down there. I'd one of my favourite holidays in Bournemouth/Southampton/Poole. Is it The Black Forrest that's down there as well...?

We usually go to Weymouth but we're having a change. I want to take my older lads to a few more grown up places...The new forest, Isle of Wight, Soton docks...all that stuff. And still be in reach of Weymouth.

Interesting to hear Mark talk about holding off on getting Arsenal assets till we know more info. I would of thought we don't have that luxury considering we should seek Sunderland assets as well. Or is the assumption that we shouldn't bother wasting transfers on Sunderland players? I have none so perhaps thats a fair point.

Yeah but does history always repeat? I could have 6 if I want but are we missing a trick elsewhere because we need to bring in Wickham, PVA and Pants?

Most already have at least one of the last 2. I already have 3 out of the 6 and hopefully can get the other 3 for free. One Sunderland CS will make a big difference in the top 10K.

Yeah so we have different starting points. I have 2 Arsenal but one of those is Bellerin. Not in the greatest position here so would need every FT and a hit to max out and thats assuming Bellerin is set to play both games.

Yep its definitely been a lesson learned. The SGWs have gone great for me in the second half of the season but its been badly let down in the DGW's.

Maybe cos its easier to decide the Sunderland assets. Getting Panti and PVA wont cost much. Most already have and easy to stick on the bench. Whereas deciding which 9m Arsenal mid to bring in is a much more daunting task and potentially more important to your success in the DGW

It really depends on our top 3 situation. Ozil is most nailed though and then it's close between Rambo and Sanchez. Sanchez has played too much football the last 10 months and Rambo has injured himself before playing too frequently.

Rambo is much more likely to get rotated though, particularly as he's playing on the flank. Sanchez is nailed on and he doesn't like being rested.

I think the WBA match in GW38 is more likely for rotation but if top 3 is secured (which would mean us winning at Old Trafford probably) then no attackers are safe for Sunderland.

In Rambo's favour are his positional flexibility, his good engine, and presumably less fatigue due to missing a chunk of the season through injury.

Its possible that Cazorla misses a game and Rambo moves back to CM.

    REPOST..

Depending on the midweek Chelsea game, is this an acceptable couple of transfers?

Vardy and Courtois to Giroud and Panti for a -4. Not enough cash to do Vardy to Giroud but enough to do Vardy to Benteke.

I'm assuming Jose will give Cech a run if the league is won.

    Worth it?

Yeah it probably is for the reason's you described. I don't necessarily believe Cech will play considering he will be sold anyway. The risk remains though and I'm not sure I'd want all that cash tied up back there. Pants is a solid DGW option as well.

No, save FT and do it a week later.

Re. Cech, most Chelsea fans would expect him to play GW38 vs Sunderland. And Jose is quite capable of sentiment when nothing is at stake. I think you'll be safe with T-Bo until then.

So there are rumors circulating that De Gea is off to Real on a 6 year deal and the fee is a pitiful 18m.

If this is true, fk him for not signing a new contract and going for that amount. After all United did for him, it would be a massive kick in the teeth. Also what a joke United will look like if we let him go for an amount that pathetic.

Better just be a stupid rumor.

It better be just a rumour, that is pitiful. Will be so annoyed if he goes for just that.

Surely other clubs will put in a bid for him if thats all he's worth though. RM will miss out.

Playing for Real Madrid is just about the pinnacle of club football anywhere in the world...why would he not?....United has been very good to him but if he is ambitous enough to play for United then he will be ambitous enough to play for Madrid.

I have no problem with him leaving for Madrid, that's not the issue. I cannot begrudge a professional their ambition, plus he wants to be with his girlfriend.

For me it's that he's refusing to sign a new deal at United to get the club a fee they deserve after sticking by him through thick and thin while he was very much rough around the edges and being slated week in and out by the fans and the media.

Theres the risk then that Real wouldnt go for him. Everybody already seems to think its a done deal. He signs a new contracta dn United jack up the price, whos to say Real just wont say 'thanks, but no thanks' I know its not their nature, but if you genuinely wanted to play for Madrid would you risk that?

I see.. Makes the move easier for him even if he has a strong relationship with Atletico (Started playing for them at age 13). If Real wants him, surely he'll be interested.

    Morning all

    Kane or Cambiasso this week?

Kane getting next to no service, hardly any attempts on goal, Spurs looking wiped out. City defence a shambles, though.
Cambiasso boss midfielder for free-scoring in-form team, lots of big lads to aim his balls at 😯 Newcastle playing like drunks in a snowstorm, absolutely hopeless.

It's a tricky one, could go either way.

There will be changes to the United lineup this week. LVG was right when he pointed out the lack of motivation in the players. Time to bring in players that are motivated.

In particular I'd like to see ADM, Januzaj and Wilson get a run out on the wings and up front.
