The Numbers Game – Double Gameweek Form

With the final double Gameweek of the season almost upon us, we turn our attentions to the Opta statistics to assess the recent form of Arsenal and Sunderland.

Using the team profile data, we take a look at both sides displays from Gameweek 30-36 – a period of time that saw them play six times apiece and one that coincides with Dick Advocaat’s arrival at the Stadium of Light.

Posted this last night, will repost to see what others think.

Who is more likely to be rested? Caz or Ramsey?

I feel as though Wilshere/Welbeck/Walcott could easily knick a game off Ramsey, whereas I can't see Caz stepping out for Arteta. Arteta and Coq wouldn't be creative enough together in the double pivot. Seems the only thing to be separating them at the moment.

Believe Ramsey slightly less nailed because of the 3 W's you mention above Walcott should get a run, and don't think Giroud will be at risk if Walcott plays. Girouds risk is Wellbeck, imo.

Didn't Wilshere play wide right when he came on, which meant Ramsey was moved to the double pivot (against Swansea)?

My take is its too difficult to call the rotation but am leaning towards Ramsey. As per last season his points don't correlate directly to his stats. A lot more clinical and threatening than Caz

JM said both Haz and Fab have played too much this year. But Haz also hasn't missed an EPL game this year, and was just named player of the year. I could see him ... Like Terry ... Play every game. Fab, on the other hand, has faded off a bit, plays more of a holding role, which could be replaced by one of the young guns JM plans to bring in. I very well could be wrong ... Just my opinion.

You are wrong to say Fabregas has faded. He has been one of Chelsea's most outstanding players recently. I think you are exhibiting FLP tunnel vision.

              • 10 Years
              8 years, 11 months ago

His creativity is still there but he lacks Costa's positioning and finishing to convert his play and he's not particularly a goal threat himself. So he's faded FPL-wise but that means nothing for Mourinho's selection policy.

Too be honest I'll be happy for a few football free weekends, but will quickly get bored and end up watching austrilan women's blindfold rules football just to get some sort of fix.

Amen brother. I was trying to be tactful as I noticed a fantasy cricket league on here (I think) but it's an absolute joke of a sport. It's just rounders with a hard ball played on grass instead of on the beach.

I dig the fantasy MLS. But I live in the States, so am "closer" to it. It fills the summer void of FPL for me.

Before this wek I was set to do Vardy, Fab -> Giroud, gomez.

This now seems like a really bad idea as Giroud is invisible and was never really sold on Gomez, and I'm thinking Fab -> Caz.

Have PVA, Panti, Sanchez, Kosc. Good move?

So, Gomez looks likely to rise tonight (currently at 117%)

Do you think he has a good chance of rising a second time this week, or even during the final GW? Doing so would mean I'd be able to do Gomez > Silva for GW38 for exact money

Is it worth -4pts to sub in PVA for Hutton?
I feel only 3 DGW players might not be strong enough? Thoughts?

    Schmeichel
    Skrtel, Bellerin, Terry
    Silva, Sanchez, Sterling, Ramsey
    Kane, Augero, Austin

    Bench - Schlupp, Hutton, Boyd

    What do?

    Mignolet (URGH) / Hamer
    Skrtel / Terry / PVA / Hutton / Wollscheid
    Ramsey / Sanchez / Hazard / Albrighton
    Kane / Aguero / Giroud

1FT, 0.7 in the bank. Chasing my minileage (about 15 points behind) so I'm prepared to take a gamble, I was considering either Kane or Hazard out?

    Hello and thank you.

As the season draws to a close I wanted to take a moment to say thank you very much to all of you at FFS, especially Mark, Jonty, Granville and all of the contributors and posters who make FFS such an invaluable resource and an excellent read. And I’m a huge fan of the Scoutcast. As I live on Koh Samui in the Gulf of Thailand I’ve also grown rather fond of the DZ, what a lovely bunch of folks you are.

I was also deeply moved by the responses to Doosra recent illness and the sad passing of Absinthe. Like most of you I only know them through their numerous, excellent posts and yet the outpouring of genuine concern and support shown by the FFS team and many posters was truly something to behold.

This is just my second season playing fantasy football. Last year I ended up with an OR of 618,116 and I was absolutely delighted with that result. This season, my good pal who introduced me to FPL suggested a small wager for our mini-league and so I thought I’d better spend a little more time on it and try and give him a run for his money.

After 36 GW’s I have an OR of 2,946 - http://fantasy.premierleague.com/entry/40030/history – I know, I can’t believe it either! However, I can sum up the reason for my improvement in one simple statement:

“I became a member of Fantasy Football Scout.”

That’s it in a nutshell. I’m still making mistakes and learning valuable lessons but thanks to FFS just not as many mistakes as before. I haven’t posted in the past because I’m still serving my FPL apprenticeship and I haven’t had anything informative or even interesting to say up until now. With a bit of luck I may have something worthwhile to contribute next season and start to repay all you good folks who have helped shaped an incredible FPL year for me.

Anyway, I’ve prattled on enough, thank you one and all for making the last year interesting, exciting, insightful and at times, truly inspiring.

Cheers and all the very best.

    Johnny

Just been looking at the NTI's for this week....

I cannot believe that Defoe is ahead of both Cazorla and Giroud!
I am also surprised at how few are getting ramsey and Ozil....

This game never ceases to amaze me!

Im guessing a fair few are also losing deadwood like a cheap 3rd striker. Whereas theyre more reluctant to sell the likes of Hazard to get Ramsey or Ozil

Hazard starting & playing for an hour is more likely than a cameo appearance considering the fact that he has started every PL match & wants to keep it that way IMO. Yes, Jose said youngsters would play this game but not necessarily starts for every one of them. I remember UCL group stage match vs Sporting where Cheeks made debut through cameo. Can see similar debut for Brown after an hour mark into the game.
