The Community Round Up

With the fixture ticker shifting in favour of Everton, Southampton and Manchester United, there was plenty of advice in our community articles and hot topics about the best options to draft in. We also take a look back in the mists of time to see Fantasy Football Scout’s first ever conversation. Back in the present day, we feature some of the most eye-catching recent stats in our latest Members tables and catch up on some of those benefiting from both form and fixtures at the summit of our community leagues.

The Community Articles

Rakkhi has used this weekend’s fixture shift to take an in-depth look at the next few Gameweeks to assess whether fixture-proof is a myth and analyse just how good the immediate schedule for the likes of Everton really is.

Meanwhile, Daily Fantasy Football PI looks at three teams with strong fixtures from this weekend onwards, while Iafarrell’s latest article looks at the best captaincy candidates for this weekend and beyond.

Rodellegabomb has a trio of bandwagons to cast your eyes over and Your Mum’s Athletic has popped down the bookies to get inspiration for his regular predictions on the Gameweek ahead.

If you are a form over fixtures brand of Fantasy manager, there will be a lot to like in The Sarjeant’s latest article on the teams that are excelling regardless of opposition so far.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

Despite a kind run of matches for Manchester United on the horizon, Fantasy managers are queuing up to ditch Anthony Martial, who hasn’t scored since Gameweek 6. Already more than 70,000 Fantasy Premier League managers have drafted him out, with Spurs man Harry Kane the new centre of attention for many, according to Hooperman’s discussion on strikers. The England international was also one of a trio of key striker options we focused on in this hot topic on the best forward to draft in this week.

There was further chat about frontmen in Gruffyboy’s discussion on the best three striker options over the next few Gameweeeks. Heels over Head was also in fine voice on the issue of centre forwards, with this musical ode to football’s most notable goal scorers.

Jamie Vardy continues to attract interest after scoring in the seventh consecutive Premier League match in Gameweek 10. Davies asked will Leicester’s unstoppable force finally meet his match when he encounters the immovable object that is a well-drilled Tony Pulis defence at the Hawthorns this weekend?

Leicester’s other star this season has been Riyad Mahrez, who has five goals and as many assists to his name already. But, wondered Jaffilicious, with so many good options in attack and midfield is the 6.5m player now effectively a fifth midfielder that can be safely benched during tough matches?

Also falling down the pecking order shortly is West Brom’s defence, which after Leicester this weekend faces Manchester United and Arsenal. Could it be time to bail on the Baggies, asked Demi.

The fate of Boaz Myhill in the community’s sides is also now under threat due to West Brom’s turn for the worst in the fixture list, according to Dino’s look at the fate of rotation.

We also ask whether form trumps fixtures as the key guide for our forthcoming transfer moves. Elsewhere, Zasa was on hand this week to offer some advice on the best times to consider using our wildcards before it runs out at the end of 2015.

Jarvish has been looking even further ahead in the fixture list now that the quarter final draw has been made in the Capital One Cup. He offered a reminder that the finalists in this competition are set for a blank fixture and double Gameweek in the second half of the season, with Manchester City and Everton amongst the favourites to reach Wembley.

The community has also been looking back on the season so far, with Ryan starting a discussion on the most underrated and overrated Fantasy Premier League players so far this season. Looking further back, Kings of Lyon has unearthed what may well be Fantasy Football Scout’s first ever discussion and first ever Rate My Team.

In the more immediate past our Rough with the Smooth takes a look back at the best and worst transfer and captaincy decisions by the community in Gameweek 10 with one of our own writers proving amongst the smoothest operators when it comes to armband decisions.

Due to a technical issue with this week’s live Scoutcast the first ten minutes have been lost in the ether. Despite this setback, the remaining 50 minutes plus our run down of what you were missing out on during those first few minutes can be found here.

The Members Tables

For those hoping Manchester United can take advantage of their kind fixture run, I’ve created this look at their most attacking players. This has a global filter and is sorted by shots in the box.

Meanwhile, Jaffalicious has found some surprising names at the top of his latest table looking at the Premier League’s most attacking defenders over the last four Gameweeks.

The Community Tournaments

Round one of Balders’s Grand Play Offs competition continues this weekend. The latest standings can be found here. Balders was back again later in the week with this update on the latest preparations for the FIFFSA 5-a-side World Cup tournament.

In TorresMagic’s Last Man Standing the safety score was 32, which saw 150 players depart and 1726 remain.

Jaffalicious also popped by with an update from the FFS UEFA Champions League competition.

Finally, congratulations to Fantasy Football Scout moderators and contributors league leader Andy, who thanks to Harry Kane is now 149th overall.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round Ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spread sheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

The Viper, 2 different capt suggestion on one page, He truly is the Viper. I'm going KDB captain and all attack.

Just wondering is Martial worth a free transfer out for Bony/someone? My team is linked.

Haha, did I? It must because in that space of time I had switched my own captain between Pelle & KDB.

I truly am in two minds 🙂

You did lad, pure character tho. I'm the same tho, going playing all out attack and I've 7 captain possibility I think. Bar Martial.

I'm sticking with KDB right now.

Just having a look at sub 5.5 mids and some things stood out
    1. Moses has got 1 goal and 3 assists in 5 starts
    2. Lanzini could now be considered a regular with 7 starts in a row(2 goals and 2 assists)
    3. Delle Alli looks a regular now and while his stats aint that great(bit better than Westwood who surprisingly has ok stats!) he passes the eye test and looks pretty threatening when watching Spurs Live
    4. Zaha is the favourite to start each week amongst the Palace wingers at present(until his form drops) and we all know what he is capable of
    5. Ex fpl favourite Sessegnon(5.1) looks like he is getting back into favour at WBA
    6. Abdi(Watfords best midfielder last season) finally looks like he is hitting his stride
    7. Arter is back!! though this will help Bournemouth more than us.. quite a player
    8. DrinkWater @4.5 is creating plenty of chances.. and he is getting more freedom to attack with Kante installed next to him(infact he could be the pick of the choices)

Slowly but surely we are gonna get a stand out budget mid to facilitate Aguero 🙂

Top stuff Valar, also keep Mason on the radar, he has great numbers (from 500 minutes) this season.

Nice bit of digging here, but I got to disagree...

Most of these players are sub 5.5 for a reason, and MOses and Zaha are more rotation risks than regular starters.

To for in Aguero get a 4.5 mid ( I have Gosling at 4.4m) and the other 4 should be the top performers, who generally cost you 7m+.

      1. Valar(Keith)

Moses has started every game he has been eligible for .. Lanzini every game since he got match fit.. Abdi was flagged as the budget mid of the season when fpl opened and he was priced 1 million less than Ritchie. Fully fit now and looking good.. Drinkwater is looking fantastic wtih Kante next to him.. Things change
Zaha is a risk agreed.. and Sessegnon and Arter are a bit out there too 🙂 ..

I get all that, but where are the points coming from? This is a 5th mid your taking about I guess...? If so, I'd just go budget and forget about it.

Gosling at 4.4m may see the bench, which is fine, as he's on mine most of the time. 😉

Good stuff. Delli Alli would be the pick to me, but it's worth noting that Ryan Mason is due to return and surely he won't be kept out of the side. Dembele and Bentaleb (who is still injured) can also play there. So his position may not be completely safe

Just thought I'd post my $0.02 regarding KDB v Mane for the armband. I'm going Mane. There are a few reasons for this.

Firstly, Mane has enjoyed a rest midweek due to his suspension. So he's fresh to play against a Bournemouth defence that has leaked many goals recently as we all know. They have conceded the most big chances in the last four GWs. Not to mention Mane's impressive recent form.

On the other hand, KdB has a ripper fixture but he has clocked up a lot of minutes recently. City also have UCL next week so if they are winning it's quite likely that he will be subbed off earlier. His stats indicate he has actually over performed, too. He takes most of his shots outside of the box so his best bet might be a Ruddy howler from long range. Norwich have also conceded a lot of big chances, more so in the box, so it's likely that the chances will fall to more advanced players, such as Bony, Sterling or Yaya. Pellegrini also seems to favour Silva and Yaya over the Belgian in the number 10 role, which doesn't help his returns.

    Thoughts?

Agree 100%. Haven't even considered KDB as an armband option this week.

I still think he is a decent option. I just feel as though Mane, and even Pelle, are better options all things considered

Will never captain Pelle after he let me down in the Leicester game. Too unreliable, not clinical enough and not explosive.

I captained him for that one too. That's put me off him this week as well.

            Still a decent option though

And to be fair to him most of the chances he gets are headers from crosses which are more difficult to score.

In my view, KDB is the main source of creativity in Man City side. He does take his shots outside the box, but then he gets assists for lots of goals scored.

    4. Bolivian Seaman

      Very good.

Also, Bournemouth midfielders don't track back so there is a massive gap and with Manes pace they definately won't catch him. People were saying Bou give most chances to strikers, mane plays in the hold or further forward than Pelle. If he doesn't score I'd eat my hat

Oh, well it is kind of irrelevant.

But my point was that Pellegrini seems to fancy Yaya over KDB in the number 10 role if Silva is out

Don't see it against Norwich - don't think he'll want two holders against Norwich like he did vs. Utd. I'm expecting Navas Sterling KDB behind Bony.

He also played Yaya in the no. 10 against Bournemouth.

If you are right though, Sterling is probably the likeliest of the three to be in behind Bony as we have seen recently.

Another possibility is 4-4-2 with Sterling up top.

I love Mané but I just think City are more reliable as a team. Soton can have off days whereas City usually win the home bankers. I'd captain Bony if I had him, but since KDB is my only City option I'm going with him. I think he's one of those players who will consistently outperform his underlying stats (a bit like Mata) just because he's really good.

      1. Bolivian Seaman

Yeah that and most of his chances are headers which are difficult to score. He doesn't have the burst of pace to get himself behind defences or away from his marker so he doesn't get too many clear cut chances as a result.

It could be. But the points could easily be spread around in the City game ala the 5-1 victory over Bournemouth. If Soton score, there's a very high chance Mane is involved

    Little repost from earlier.

Welcome to my team Olivier Giroud. He'll partner Vardy/Pelle upfront for me. Here's a few stats that I particularly liked - (compared to the other three options I was considering in Lukaku, Kane & Bony)

Has the best minutes per goal in the league this season which is quite assuring. (5 goals, 88.8 mins)

28 shots inside the box from four starts and he still tops Kane (27), Lukaku (22) & Bony (12).

14 shots on target, second highest compared to Kane. (16) then Lukaku (11) & Bony (7).

The 29 goal attempts also impressed me, though he's again, second (joint second with Lukaku), compared to Kane. (37), I feel with Giroud now pretty much guaranteed 3, maybe 4 games upfront in a row, the attempts and stats 'should' jump even more impressively.

Plus the 6.7% ownership and the fact I'll be watching the game on TV, makes for interesting viewing. (My local has Setanta HD)

Lukaku/Bony the more attractive option fixture wise, Bony especially for the next two. Lukaku be more long-term, Kane was only really tempting me because of MNF vs Villa if I'm honest, plus I wasn't keen on ars, WHU, CHE. My ML rival(s) have also brought him in this week too, nobody has Giroud.

    'Mon Olivier! You handsome sod.

with walcott out, I do think he is a good choice.
he score in patches too, so could be very profitable

U have forgotten that kane has a hatty last gw..this could spark him into form. Villa at home is also easier than swans away and a ucl match mid week

Think that is a decent call. Was 0.1 short for my FT tonight but had look. As an aside I find it interesting that we share 9 players but your ranking is miles ahead of mine . Kudos.

would i be correct in saying there is no strategy about playing AoA? its the simplest of the chips unlike the others where dgw etc have to be considered.

Currently have a strong front 8 so thinking about AoA, once Kun returns in gw13, not sure when i will get a chance again to play AoA.

Worth playing AoA this week or next? if i dont play AoA, then

    gw11:
    - benching mahrez (wba)
    - playing bdavies (AVL) and hope he starts with either moreno (che) / souare (MAN) on bench

    gw12:
    - benching mane (sun)
    - playing moreno (CPL), cedric (sun), janmaat (bou)

Will likely get Kun after intl break and will have to revert to a 433

I like Epic Fails advice of it feels right use it. There's a fair bit of nuance to it for very little return. GW11 looks good to me.

I'm playing it this week, bar Che-Liv, those fixture are solid and with the extra money I had left over from Aguero injury I have the strongest front I'm likely to have this season.

Don't think it's the best chip for a DGW.

    Is KDB essential?

I kinda think he is, but am a little tempted to get rid on my WC. Thoughts?

    A) KDB, Mahrez & Bony
    B) Yaya, Sterling & Kane
    C) KDB, Yaya/Sterling & Vardy

    Sanchez, xxx, Mane, xxx
    Pelle, Lukaku, xxx

not even close, barely stands out from the rest of City's attackers.

Still working it out. It entirely depends on the rest of the team structure. With your currently named players you should definitely be taking Bony + one other though.
