The Weekend Team News

Alexis Sanchez is expected to shrug off a minor hamstring niggle for Arsenal’s trip to Norwich. Daniel Sturridge is set for scans after picking up a foot problem in training, Roberto Martinez will make a late call on Leighton Baines’ availability, whilst Stoke have concerns over Phillip Wollscheid for the trip to Sunderland.

Arsene Wenger has admitted that Alexis Sanchez had “a little hamstring alarm” but went on to concede “”it might not be the best moment to rest Alexis” for the trip to Norwich. Joel Campbell will also be assessed after picking up a minor calf complaint in the 3-0 victory over Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain “should” be available for the Gunners, having returned to training following his hamstring injury, though Theo Walcott remains sidelined.

Daniel Sturridge is feared to have picked up another injury ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Bordeaux last night. The forward is now set for scans on a foot problem sustained during training. Martin Skrtel recovered from illness and was an unused sub in the 2-1 win at Anfield.

Jores Okore is available again after recovering from a knee injury, but Remi Garde has left Jack Grealish out of the squad to face Watford after the midfielder was seen partying just hours after the heavy 4-0 defeat to Everton. Gabriel Agbonlahor is still a doubt for the Villans with a calf complaint.

Watford will once again be without Sebastian Prodl for the trip to Villa Park, with the defender nursing a calf injury. Midfielder Valon Behrami may be able to play some part though, with the Swiss international back in training after a kick to the knee before last weekend’s clash against Man United.

Phil Jones and Ander Herrera are still sidelined for Man United’s clash with Leicester, Louis van Gaal confirmed earlier this morning.

Roberto Martinez will decide later today whether to include Leighton Baines in the Everton squad for the trip to Bournemouth. The left-back has yet to figure this season having undergone ankle surgery during the summer.

Southampton’s Jay Rodriguez has been ruled out for between six and eight weeks after undergoing surgery to try and cure his longstanding foot issues. Graziano Pelle is suspended for the trip to the Etihad this weekend, with Shane Long expected to take the Italian’s place in attack.

Sam Allardyce is hopeful that both Jermain Defoe and Fabio Borini will be fit to face Stoke, with the former expected to keep his place in the starting XI after scoring the winner at Crystal Palace on Monday night.

Philipp Wollscheid is an injury concern for Stoke ahead of their trip to the Stadium of Light, with the German centre-back unable to train yesterday because of a pelvis injury. Geoff Cameron is on standby for the Potters.

Jamie Vardy is fit for Leicester ahead of the huge home encounter against Man United. The England international will be attempting to set a new Premier League record by scoring in 11 consecutive matches.

West Ham’s Pedro Obiang has recovered from a thigh injury, and could replace the suspended Mark Noble in midfield against West Brom on Sunday. Alex Song made his comeback from injury against Tottenham though, and could get the nod ahead of the former Sampdoria midfielder in the middle of the park.

Norwich captain Russell Martin will return to the squad for the visit of Arsenal after missing last week’s loss at Chelsea due to personal reasons. Midfielder Alex Tettey misses out once again, though, with the Norway international carrying a thigh injury.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

got an s6 edge 6 months ago when it first came out, wife has a new iPhone 6s...

Camera on s6 edge is killer, photos are brilliant, better than iPhone.

Feels amazing in hand, but then you gotta protect it, so you bulk it up and it negates that sexiness.

Screen already has minor crack...didn't even drop it....costly to repair or replace screen, very costly.

Overall very happy with it, but edge itself is just a gimmick really

Play Janmaat/Evans/Ayew/Gomis/ (I know) or transfer out Gomis for Benteke for -4 (-8 in total)?

    Would leave me with

    DDG - McCarthy
Bellerin - Sagna - Moreno (Evans - Janmaat)
    Sanchez - Ozil - Ayew - Barkley - Mahrez
    Kane - Lukaku - Benteke

Vardy or Ighalo more appealing than Benteke. He's not sure to play all the time.

        8 years, 5 months ago

Ighalo for the first 3 yes, but after that it's not pretty.

I am not going near Vardy with those fixtures after missing the boat altogether. Don't ask me why.

I have exact money for Benteke, and am liking the fixtures. You're right about the gametime, but I think he will come good. Klopp might actually find a way to use him. Besides, who is gonna take his place?

        Should be nailed on now

Very good fixtures , and good underlying stats prior to the injury ...
Also cheap at 8m , I'd prefer to say Firmino at same price

I like to have a diff of 2 in the team , and kind of policy this year to get in proven fpl performers early and catch the points before everyone else does

Tap in merchant. He's thinking time infront of goal is long, you'll notice he'll take few touches infront of goal before he shoots. How Rodgers played him through the season as a striker is beyond me.

Conceded more than 1 in 4 matches, United, Everton, Newcastle and Leicester.

Use that as a reference as well, they played teams like Everton, United or Leicester and conceded plenty (3 against Everton and United, 2 against Leicester) while they kept teams like Chelsea (who are rubbish), Liverpool (who were undergoing a change in management) and Stoke (who are Stoke) to 1.

So are City more equatable to United, Everton and Leicester or Stoke/Chelsea?

Play Kolarov or Evans? I have Mane playing against Kolarov. Also play Gosling or Ayew. Again I have Ayew playing against Moreno?

    Thanks

Evans more likely to get CS but Kolarov more likely to get attacking returns.

      I have both playing.

      Hmmmm, I'd lean towards Evans

    Which looks best?

    A. Pelle+Mane+Kolarov -> Aguero+Lanzini+Ryan Bennett - 4
    B. Pelle+Mane -> Lukaku + Deulofeu/Barkley
    C. Pelle+Mane -> Kane + Deulofeu

Note that in A I'm still left with a decent defence (Rojo, Bertrand, Bellerin, Moreno).
Also, worried mane might shine without pelle, but need to lose one mid (other options would be Sanchez or KDB).

You could always bench Pelle, he has AVL next week....see below

True, but feel like it would be better to have one of Aguero/Kane/Lukaku going forward given their potential (sergio) and form (the rest)...

    Hi all,

I was considering the goalkeepers for this GW. It is between Hennessy and Butland.
Most people recommend Butland, but now Wollsheid is a concern maybe it is better to pick Heeny

    What do you think?

Cant decide between Deulofeu and Barkley!

But I just know one of them is going to get a 10+pointer haul this week

For 1 week only I need a Mid up to 8.7m to go with this team: (Payet out)

    Ozil KdB Mahrez Ayew
    Kane Lukaku

Playing 3-5-2 and benching Pelle for one last run next week at home to AVL.

So, who to bring in for 1 week? Coutinho, and if he's not certain to start, then who? Barkey or Firmino? Thanks

Mane -> Ozil is a sensible transfer this week right?

I've a nasty feeling Mane might choose this next two games to bring in about 25 points but I'm just fed up with the great lummox.

Yep. Flirted with the idea of bringing in Firmino for the flair or even to leave Mane where he is and either bank the transfer or bring in Moreno but dull and steady is my thing.

It's a sensible transfer, and I'm doing it on my WC, but it's one that has the potential to burn. However, if you take that line every week, you could end up with another string of Mane 2 pointers. I'd pull the trigger.

Hart and Kompany out and then Villa at home next week.

I was going to do that transfer but I'm giving him these two weeks to atone for his shenanigans.

Defintely worth it. Mane is a troll of the highest order and Özil is borderline essential. No brainer.
