The Weekly Shop – Gameweek 26

It’s time to visit the Weekly Shop this Wednesday evening, as we assess the player lists of our partner games to pinpoint the likely targets that will make up our own weekly squads.

As always, the player analysis is split into two sections: I’ll break down the key targets that no squad can do without in “Better Buys”, before seeking out those one-shot “Poundstretcher” prospects that can provide us points, whilst freeing up funds.

For this week’s selection, we’re focusing on the FantasyBet and DraftKing player lists.

Better buys

Fraser Forster’s (FantasyBet 4.5m, DraftKings $3,900) settling influence is unquestionable after Southampton registered a fifth successive clean sheet since his return from injury. Considering that a sixth shut-out at Swansea this weekend would equal the number kept in the 20 outings prior to his reinstatement, Saints fans will be wondering what could have been if their shot-stopper had been available all season.

Jose Mourinho’s departure from the Chelsea hotseat has coincided with a revival in Branislav Ivanovic’s (FantasyBet 6.5m, DraftKings $4,300) attacking output. The full-back had failed to produce any attacking points before the Special One parted company but has since served up a goal and three assists in the subsequent nine. Although the Blues have now conceded in each of their last seven at the Bridge, the visit of a Newcastle side that has netted once in four away trips gives the opportunity to chalk up a clean sheet.

Dimitri Payet (FantasyBet 7.5m, DraftKings $7,700) has been disappointing since recovering from an ankle problem, with a goal and assist at Bournemouth his only returns in five starts. The Frenchman assisted the winner in the midweek FA cup victory over Liverpool, though, demonstrating the effectiveness of his set-piece delivery, which is an important aspect of DraftKings scoring system. Payet’s 16 chances created and 47 crosses over those five appearances makes him an enticing prospect ahead of a visit to struggling Norwich.

Romelu Lukaku’s (FantasyBet 9m, DraftKings $7,600) pronounced presence on Jonty’s goals imminent table is a sound indicator that substantial returns could be on the cards as West Brom travel to Goodison Park. At Stoke, the Belgian scored a first goal in six league matches but has had 20 attempts over that period, with 16 of those coming from inside the box. The Toffees frontman could reap the benefits up against a Baggies defence that has conceded in seven straight matches away from the Hawthorns.

Poundstretchers

Watford travel to a Crystal Palace side that has lost three in a row at Selhurst Park and scored just three times in the last eight Gameweeks. Even if the Hornets concede, though, Huerelho Gomes (FantasyBet 4.5m, DraftKings $3,300) could be worth considering – he impressed in the narrow defeat at Spurs by making eight saves, a factor that we think is worth looking out for in Draftkings.

Bournemouth’s Charlie Daniels (FantasyBet 4.5m, DraftKings $3,900) has picked up a goal and two assists over the last four Gameweeks ahead of a home clash with Stoke. Whilst the left-back’s crossing should reap rewards in Draftkings, centre-back Simon Francis (FantasyBet 4m, DraftKings $2,500) is better priced if you’re unwilling to splash the cash, given that the Potters have failed to net in their last four outings. The Cherries, meanwhile, have kept two clean sheets in their last four at Dean Court, only conceding to top-six sides Arsenal and West Ham.

Sunderland have gone eleven matches without a clean sheet, conceding 23 goals in that porous run and look set to continue to leak goals. Weekend visitors Man United appear to have found some attacking fluency with Jesse Lingard’s (FantasyBet 4.5m, DraftKings $4,300) continued inclusion providing some much-needed width to stretch opponents. The youngster has scored three in five starts and offers a budget alternative to Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial.

Staying on Wearside, we’re also considering the home side’s new signing Wahbi Khazri (FantasyBet 6.0m, DraftKings $3,400), who made an immediate impression on his first start last weekend by providing the assists for both goals in a 2-2 comeback draw at Anfield.

We return to Bournemouth for our budget forward pick, Benik Afobe (FantasyBet 6m, DraftKings $4,800) – the winter signing may have blanked against Arsenal but goals in each of his three previous outings suggests he is clearly capable of producing the goods. Add to that a visit from a Potters side that have lost 3-0 in each of the last three Gameweeks and Afobe could be in line for a fourth goal in his sixth start for the Cherries.

These are the contenders for my weekly contest lineups heading into the midweek fixtures. Tomorrow I’ll also bring you up to date on my progress in FantasyBet, as I continue my quest for profit in the 2015/16 campaign.

I reckon Daniels and Huth are the best options for 4.6. Huth not much good to you this week though, could get him in next week.

Evening fellas, some tough decisions this week. What do you think?

    1 FT, 2.8 ITB

    Fabianski
    Ward Alderweireld Daniels
    Firmino Payet Sánchez Mahrez
    Agüero Kane Vardy

    McCarthy, Alli Monreal Oxford

    1) Who to bench from front 8?
    2) Who to captain

    3) What do you think of these transfers? Anything better?

    This week:
    Oxford -> Azpi

    Next week:
    Fabianski -> Forster

      Same front 8, currently thinking:

      1) Mahrez/Payet (probably the latter after West Ham played 120 min)
      2) Agüero
      3) both transfers look good. I'm planning similar moves, already brought in a CHE defender (Ivanovic) and next week considering Forster or VVD/Fonte

I would definitely be benching Payet normally, been very disappointing since I got him in but Norwich can't defend for ****. Making me think twice but it's hurting benching Alli.

When in doubt I usually go for Kun (c) but no Silva and no KDB against one of the best defences in the league makes me uncomfortable.

Thanks for the help weighing things up.

I think Arsenal or marginally more likely to keep CS but still don't fancy them keeping Leicester out. I just think Alder has more attacking threat. The number of attempts he has for a defender is impressive.

Anyone with an idea on a transfer for this lot?

    Forster Hennessey
    Bellerin Toby Wolly Simpson Targett
    Ozil Alli Alexis Mahrez Payet
    Kun Kane Kaku

    2FT. 0.4ITB.

Thinking maybe Bellerin to Azpi, or somehow try and fit Costa in as a short-term punt, but nothing really stands out.

Not keen on Wolly despite fixtures. Stoke are terrible atm. Target an injury/rotation risk.

Defence looking week for this GW, maybe make a transfer there. Daniels a good option

Not sure taking players out guaranteed to play GW30 is a good idea at the moment, hence reluctance to drop Wolly or Targett, who might come back in.
Agree defence the issue this week, but hard to find anything worth it over medium-term.

          This side of GW30 unless:
          A) there is an injury or suspension,
          B) you'll be in a position to field a side in GW30, or
          C) Tottenham land a GW30 fixture

Alli may be worth the investment regardless of blanks, but I think Weat Ham have too many good fixtures for Payet to be the fall guy.

Yeah, that's a tough one. I had bad experiences benching Alli, and his numbers in the last away games are just impressive (9 12 1 8 13 10). But also had bad experiences with Mahrez, like last week. Definitely very hard and risky to bench any of them.

This gameweeks green or red arrows are going to be decided Saturday by clean sheets and the odd attacking points from a defender. Everyone will own the same players Sunday so not much of rank change from Saturday night.

it's about who benches who tho. many people will be flipping coins as to play mahrez, alli, ozli/sanchez, etc.

Just had a new thought on captain for this GW, was set on Aguero (v TOT), but considering a risk on Ivanovic (v NEW)...

      Thoughts for and against?

just don't give yourself the heartache of captaining a defender. one goal conceded and your gameweek could be dead without an unlikely assist/goal.

It's prob best to save a FT for next week right incase of injuries?
This means Cedric will be my Saints DF due to funds. He's pretty nailed ya?

Played last 5 for 5 CS.
If Moreno has any value then you want to play him this week.
Rather VVD/Fonte but it's not the end of the world.

Well I could do a little column A (Aggy > Costa) a little column B (Sagna > VvD) and hope I have no pressing concerns for GW27 that prevents me from doing Stan > Mahrez and then Payet out the week after that.

          Butland
          Toby / Daniels / Monreal
Mahrez / Alli / Sanchez / Antonio / (whoever I get in for Firmino)
          Afobe / Kane

Subs: Bunn / Monreal / Targett / Kun

I can quite easily but I kind of want Vardy for that Norwich fixture.

Evening. For the second week in a row I have 2 FTs and no clue what to do.

      Lloris (Elliot)
      Koscielny Azpilicueta Rangel (Walker Simpson)
      Sanchez Payet Siggy Alli (Drinkwater)
      Aguero Rooney Giroud

Walker to SOT seems the sensible move but I can't help but feel that minor moves right now are a missed opportunity as we all wait for the fixture uncertainty to be resolved.

Any upgrades in attack that make sense?

That's because against Arsenal Koeman switched to 4 at the back. He seems to usually play in a 3 at the back system

This is an obvious question for all you but I don't know the answer. How come Baines missed out at the weekend?

Is Arnie worth a place this week instead of Alli?

Arnie fits the spot but I'd bench him.
Bou mid might work this week.

Appears fine. I'd captain Kun over Payet.

Hey Walsh. Long time :). Yeah they are my two main options. Just have a feeling about Payet this week but may play it safe. Cheers

            Hey pal 🙂

Yeah it would be a risk, but if you have a feeling go for it.

I'm concentrating on the cup this year and in my paid league I'm up against this team at the weekend:

      Hennessey/de Gea
      Baines, Kolarov, Clyne (Evans, Sagna)
      Ozil, Mahrez, Wijn, Sanchez (Willian)
      Lukaku, Igahol, Vardy

I'll take as many point hits as I need to get a team that beats his. So my question is, which of those players do you think I should have as cover in my team? And my other question, who looks ripe for a big score this weekend?

I wouldn't be worried about any, really. Certainly don't see anything worth you transferring someone in just to cover yourself.

Cheers Walsh. I think his defence looks week. Have to confess, I have no Mahrez or Vardy so I may need to get the Algerian, just in case.
