The ScoutCast – Episode 187 – Flipchart

We’ve been left hanging for weeks but finally, on 3pm on Tuesday, we were handed the Double Gameweek details and could begin our planning in earnest.

This week’s ScoutCast is dominated by double Gameweek chatter, as your community queries hone in on the variables, strategies and planning involved in exploiting the fixture pile-up to the full.

I’m joined by Jonty, Andy and Luke as we attempt to make sense of it all, turning to a virtual flipchart to digest and communicate some of the options on offer.

It’s hardcore stuff that takes into extra time in an exhaustive 80-minute episode.

This was first aired live via our YouTube channel on Wednesday evening, Be sure to subscribe in order to get wind of future broadcasts.

You can view that live version via the larger player below, or indulge on the directors cut audio stream via this link or the smaller player.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

WC gone, 2x FTs, don't need to bring anyone in for this upcoming GW.
Leaning towards getting in Skrtel/Clyne/Coleman for Daniels, with an eye on GW 34.
Bad idea? Have even checked the next couple of GWs, should have 3 DEFs I can field for GWs 32, 33 without needing LIV/EVE

I have 2 FTs so have to use 1.

Is Vardy -> Rondo asking for trouble?

    Lukaku is the alternative

similar dilemna here, tempted to keep Vardy for 1 more week, Lukaku v Everton doesn't sound quite so promising. Or Martial?

It was a great scoutcast, but one thing that I don't think was mentioned when discussing "to Aguero or not to Aguero" - Aguero has WBA at home GW33 (when we would be ditching him).

It did help and it dovetails nicely with balders article. I'm also in the camp where my gw34 assets are too week, so it looks like wc33 for me. But listening to all the permutations makes me worried about gw35 and gw37... just so much to consider!

Since i'm going to WC in GW33 here is some of my thoughts why it is a good idea.

    - can punt on whoever i want for next 2 GW
    - Arsenal is out of all cup competitions and i expect them to go all out for the title while there is still realistic chance of winning it
    - teams like ManU and WHam are still in a race for CL spot and i expect them to play strong sides in both matches
    - teams like Newcastle are in a relegation figh and will tighten up and focus on staying in the league

My worries about GW36 WC is :

    - teams like Everton or WHam could be out of fight for spots that takes them to euro competitipns next week so they could foucus on FA cup final or just rest some players since they have nothing to play for
    - since you need to WC in GW36, there is a chance that a team like Newcastle secures staying up on GW36 or in the first game of DGW which could lead to massive change in lineup

True, but if they are not in the race for let's say CL spot, i don't see Payet giving 100% since he will probably going to make France suad for EURO and he'll want to stay away from potential injurie

        1. adidasOriginals

West Ham - still have great chance of top 4 so they are going to go for it. Big time

    3. Kun Tozser
      • 8 Years
      8 years, 1 month ago

Still undecided until I draft a couple of teams, but...

      WHM
      WAT
      EVE
      LIV
      SUN
      ARS
      MU

All have great fixtures for GW37.

Also because of the reasons you mention there is potential to pick a few differential players that I wouldn't pick for GW34 that could get big hauls.

With WAT, WHM, EVE, MU not playing in GW35 you can only have so many benched waiting

      1. Kun Tozser
        • 8 Years
        8 years, 1 month ago

And you can go for 15DGW players in 37, not so in 34 (I'd rather still have Kane, Mahrez I think)... I quite like the idea of all in with 15 🙂

          8 years, 1 month ago

You will WC for GW36, i expect that with 3 games to go there will still be 2-3 teams in the race for the title so i would want those players

Right. Managed to get an hour or so of spare time for the first time since Tuesday and I've knocked up a rough plan of what my team might be from GW33 to the season's end.

Now to spend the next couple of hours reviewing all of the articles, hot topics, etc. that have been posted on the subject and completely change my mind on everything 🙂

I've just realised my whole plan is possible at today's prices with £0.0m to spare so there are a few flies in the ointment - any price rise/fall that goes against me ruins everything, any injury/suspension ruins everything, any player falling out of favour ruins everything...

Basically my plan is a big pile of flies with a drop of ointment.

Thinking of a one - two week punt to sell Silva... Such an awful mistake to bring him in last week 😀

Got Gylfi, Alli, Ozil, Mahrez... (got 3 Spurs, so eriksen is a no go - Payet / Firmino options, but rather Payet?) Anything else? Since these are not punts. I would be starting one of them i believe.

    Thinking GARDNER!!!!!! (cough cough)

A lot of dilemmas for me ahead of this GWK.

If Moreno isn't fit I have to bring in a DEF 'cause Kolarov is not playing. So two options for that one - either switch him to Williams or splash the cash on VVD

Next up - who to bench up front? Have Alli, Mahrez, Ozil, Siggy, Arnie.. or one of the FWDs? Kun, Kane or Vardy?

Would really appreciate your comments and help lads! Cheers!

To those of you who are contemplating a Wildcard and Bench Boost for DGW34, are you worried about ditching your Tottenham and Leicester players? A lot of us will have six players from those two teams at the moment. Is it worth losing some of the best valued players in the game for (probably) the rest of the season to accommodate 15 DGWers in 34?

I personaly still haven't decided...Vardy,Mahrez and Leicester in general looks like they are slowing down and that the pressure in catching them (very lucky to win vs Newcastle). Will decide after those two GW, Mahrez, Vardy and Kane have huge ownership and they could destroy you if they start scoring

Anything here worth a transfer, or should I just save?

    Butland
    Aldeweireld, Dann, Dawson, (VVD, Daniels)
    Ozil, Mahrez, Alli, Siggy, (Arnie)
    Aguero, Kane, Vardy

      I did Vardy > Lukaku.

      A. To beat the price rises
      B. Feel he can really bully Arsenal this week

Mignolet, Firmino, Coutinho will be my 3 pool players I think.

    Mignolet
    Bellerin Smalling Rojo
    Payet Ozil Coutinho Firmino
    Aguero Martial Lukaku

    Elliot Mahrez Fuchs Alderweireld

No wild card but can get there with only one hit, just need to plan which way I want to transfer people in

Why is Kompany still only on an Orange flag in FPL? I thought he had been confirmed out for a number of weeks?

No WC and on 1FT this week. Need to turn this into a DGW beast

    Schmeichel/Forster
    Daniels,Creswell,Williams,VVD,Kolarov(don't laugh)
    Payet, Ozil, Mahrez, Erikson, Alli
    Aguero, Kane, Vardy

    Over the next 3 weeks I think I need to do;
    Kane,Vardy,Erikson,Alli,Kolarov > ???,Deeney/Rondon,Coutinho,Firmino,Clyne/Bellerin

??? = Lukaku or Giroud or Sturridge or Martial

Even tempted to go Forster to DDG

Hit me will have to be taken.

would've thought you can drop Daniels too, Bournemouths fixtures pretty bad til end of season

Yeah, but no bench boost so happy for him to stay as my low cost def on the bench. That would also take me to 6-7 transfers with only 4 free ones from now until GW34.

Looks like you have started to identify the players you need for the dgws and blank week in 35.

We know that LIV have two dgws and no blanks so I'd be thinking which 3 players you need to get in.

Firmino. Milner and possibly Mignolet for me.

EVR should be high on the agenda too. (Lukaku, Barclay) and maybe a couple of UTD (Smalling/Mojo/Martial).

Milner playing LB last night! He shouldn't stay there, but I'd prefer Henderson

Already on LFC, I def want Firmino & Coutinho, they are the best threat and likly returns. Erikson and Alli will be the sacrifice swap here. Considering either Clyne or Sturridge for the 3rd......both a gamble.

Martial or Rashford are tempting for UTD, but not convinced.

Lukaku an option but less appealing becuase of the GW35 blank, but there is that other DGW out there against Arsenal to come.

    Morning Gents

    Silva out this week for...

    A. Siggy

    or

    B. Firmino

short term Siggurds, long(er) term Firmino

I'd say Siggy purely because of Villa fixture, but Firmino builds that all important double double gameweek team. Tough call.

Do you have a WC? If so then I'd go for Siggy this week and bring Firmino in on the WC.

      Yes, do it.
Most who considers it are evaluating his performance vs WHU, before bringing him in for Villa, mind.

I have a FT to blow for this WE gameweek. I am going for spurs defense.
I don't have money for toby, I have the choice between Wimmer, Rose, Walker and Bavies.

I want to find the greatest balance between Naileness and attacking threats.

Looks like Walker is a sure starter after tripier played yesterday but his attacking returs ar enot that good.
Rose should have not played 75min yesterday but he did with Bavies injury. I fancy Rose's attacking profile though.

Wimmer the safest pick in terms of Nailness I guess.

    Who would you go for?

I guess my question is, which DEF will have the biggest score in GW34? (as I will probably use my FT today on him and bench)
    Clyne
    Skrtel
    Smalling
    Coleman
    Koscielnty (already got Bellerin)
