Fantasy Football Scout Cup XII – The Final

This evening we reveal the result of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup XII final and the name of the Fantasy manager who has joined previous winners donnellyc, Jonty, Gribude, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleeping master, Mch, Wild Rover, Tdubb05 , CMIFLFC and Mark in our Cup hall of fame.

With a rank of 2,842 Leon Harris went into the Fantasy Football Scout Cup XII final, against 27,046 ranked community regular Numb, with form on his side.

Leon was at a disadvantage heading into Gameweek 32, though. While he had used up all his chips in his march to the final, including a savvy triple captaincy of Harry Kane for his semi-final clash with konman, Numb had a second wildcard, triple captaincy and bench boost at his disposal, as well as two free transfers.

Instead of using his chips to help his cause in the final, Numb opted to prioritise the forthcoming double Gameweeks, leaving Leon to claim a comfortable victory by 84 points to 69.

Numb may have shunned the use of his chips but he did use his two free transfers well, taking out Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld, who conceded against Liverpool, and Manchester City’s injured midfielder Yaya Toure for Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin, who netted 14 Fantasy Premier League points, and Dimitri Payet, who scored a wonder goal from a free kick.

Leon’s XI proved too strong, though, with his differentials of Swansea’s Gylfi Sigurdsson, Manchester City’s David Silva and Leicester’s Wes Morgan all bringing in the points. The 15 FPL points from Morgan meant that Leon managed to outgun Numb’s Leicester defender Christian Fuchs, who still scored an impressive 10 FPL points

Leon’s victory takes him to an impressive 1,303rd in the overall rankings and earns him first prize of a £200 Amazon voucher.

Numb is now 23,218th overall but with his chips still to play he looks well-placed for a further climb up the rankings. He also takes away the runner-up prize of a £100 Amazon voucher to console himself.

Thanks to all those who took part in this competition, which this year showed how the use of chips and wildcards can prove pivotal to success.

Why Sissoko? Wouldn't have him if he was free.

Just trying to fill a low cost slot. I need someone cheap to afford Sanchez. 90 x 2 games is at least 4 points plus he plays gw 35.

Moreno could share gametime with Flanagan particularly as he isn't eligible for Europe. Also you will be having to take a hit in 35 if your comfortable with doing so then that's ok.

I wouldn't expect much from Deeney and Sissoko.
      No keeper for GW35.

Probably Martial. Would be a dream scenario if LVG tells us tomorrow that Rooney won't play again this season. Then I'm all over Rashford.

I have considered Martial, it would force a couple of little compromises elsewhere and leave me with a player less for 35. Still got him in mind just because he's nailed and those two fixtures are really soft

Leaves me with one less player in GW35 if I go for Jags. Decent alternative with back to back DGWs and I always feel like he has an outside chance of getting his head on a set piece. Not feeling confident about Everton's defence though. I'm going to take a closer look.

You think Mangala is a rotation risk before GW36? I don't think they have an alternative with Demichelis in the **** and facing a ban and Kompany out until at least the 26th.

If you go Firmino, doesn't it make sense to get him for GW34? If he's not fit to start today then surely he wouldn't be risked in a start vs Stoke with the 2nd leg next week.

Also without an EL champ, Europe is probably a pipe dream for Liverpool so I could see Klopp forgoing Stoke to focus on Dortmund, especially if the score stays roughly like this.

In order to squeeze KDB and Sanchez in, this is the WC team. 14 DGWs and 11 out with 2FTs for 35. Any changes you'd make?

    DDG/ Robles

    Gabriel/Clichy/Sakho/Ward/Simpson

    KDB/Iwobi/Lanzini/Sanchez/Coutinho

    Kun/Martial/Lukaku

Not to my liking with Iwobi & Lanzini in midfield. Just my opinion

Lanzini is fine but Iwobi is a fair criticism. Need to sacrifice somewhere though

Thoughts on this WC team chaps?

Got the exact money for Bolasie to Firmino in GW34.

    Robles - Hart
    Smalling - Lovren - Gabriel - Koscielny - Simpson
    Sanchez - Coutinho - Lanzini - Bolasie - Mahrez
    Aguero - Lukaku - Mitrovic

Am I suffering from the parent-child syndrome? (Every parent think THEIR kid is the most beautiful kid in the world) Or where can/should I improve?

    WCT: 0 in bank
    Robles Darlow
    Bellerin Gabriel Clichy Rojo Sakho
    Sanchez KDB Payet Coutinho Barkley
    Lukaku Martial Mitrovic

      Wouldn't trust Rojo.

Borthwick-Jackson was performing out of his skin before injury, and Young adds to the possible rotation.

Darlow Clichy Rojo Barkley would not be coming near my team. No Kun could hurt you too, he scored FIVE v Newcassle last time.

    A. Martial & Lanzini

    B. Mitrovic & Milner

I know A looks better but I'm thinking B might just be easier with gwk 35 in mind?.

You've answered your own question. Depends which is most important to you. I'd go A and compensate for 35 elsewhere.

He is terrible - Can never get the ball out of his feet. Made about 50 mistakes against spurs. I don't rate him at all.

Excellent defensively (in terms of blocks and tackles) but with the ball he is very dodgy.

Yep never seems to take the easy ball which is a huge problem for a CB.

Sakho has no problems with the ball.

Positionally and mentally, however, he is a compleat disaster.

Well on the eye test, he does tend to make incorrect decisions when on the ball. Agree with the positional point, he can be very out of position.
