The Community Round up

Events in Gameweek 33 conspired to make a laughing stock of many of the community’s best-laid plans. With popular captaincy selection Romelu Lukaku failing to score and rotation hitting the Manchester City and Liverpool team sheets hard,  a good Gameweek 34 score has become a necessity for many. Our community writers reveal how even the most experienced managers are struggling to get to grips with the new Fantasy Premier League chips, while our hot topic posters offer a raft of sensible advice to ensure the next set of fixtures is one to enjoy. Our Members tables look at the current best and worst attacking sides, while in our community leagues those who kept faith in single Gameweek players have plenty to chuckle about.

The Community Articles

The FPL veterans certainly had a double Gameweek 33 to forget, according to Kavali’s look at their Wildcard moves. With more double fixtures ahead in Gameweek 34, however, they could once again be on the march again up the rankings.

To give the community some insight into the best players to draft in and stick with, Bolivian Seaman dropped by to deliver his latest assessment of what the fans are saying.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

Before preparing for the double Gameweek there was still plenty of handwringing to be done as the community looked back on the missed opportunities of Gameweek 33.

As well as offering a Wildcard time machine, so that those who used this chip could go back to the past to rectify their mistakes, we also asked what lessons we’ve learned so far about the best way to combine Wildcards with other chips.

There was further contemplation on how we can use the experience of the second Wildcard to best survive the run in, as well as some fascinating research by Balders into the new template for the FFScout Hall of Fame’s top managers.

Those that have used their wildcard will certainly be hoping it brings more joy in Gameweek 34’s bumper schedule. Across the 15 matches, Irish Maverick offered up his top three captaincy options, while Giggs Boson also discussed those vying for the armband. Elsewhere, Jazz, believes Chris Smalling may be the best player to trust with the captaincy, particularly as goal shy Aston Villa and Crystal Palace are Old Trafford’s visitors over the double Gameweek.

Chip strategy also came under the spotlight, with mounting injuries making a bench boost seem less appealing this Gameweek.

Meanwhile, for those looking to rise up the rankings in Sky Fantasy Football, our resident expert D1sable has unearthed some interesting ownership statistics among the top 1,000 managers. This could prove vital for those on the look out for differentials.

The Members Tables

As mentioned on this week’s Scoutcast, I have constructed a table of the best and worst attacking sides. This is particularly handy for showing the teams that have upped their game in front of goal recently.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

In addition, with blanks and double Gameweeks now upon us, it is wise to sort by matches – rather than Gameweeks – to give a fairer gauge of form.

The Community Tournaments

Kings of Lyon’s Going Out With a Bang league was set up in Gamweek 32 to gather data on how well our end of season chips perform, as well as give the community something to play for during the run-in. With a Gameweek 33 score of 93, Enter Shaqiri is at the summit of this 287-strong league. He still has his second wildcard, triple captaincy and bench boost still to play and was the only top 10 player not to use at least one chip in Gameweek 33.

Seven of the “Going out with a Bang” top ten triple-captained Lukaku, one wildcarded and one, Hala Madrid, used a bench boost, which proved a disappointment. While Robles earned Hala Madrid 14 points, his three subs could only muster two points between them.

Among the top 50 of the “Going Out with a Bang” league, the average points tally was 79.5, with 96% captaining Lukaku, 28% transferring out the free-scoring Jamie Vardy, 38% transferring in the non-playing Philippe Coutinho and 4% captaining Yannick Bolasie.

The Gameweek 36 semi-finals of Jarvish’s Frequent Posters Cup will see Ayew Serious face Sepp Blattered, while Feed Feo takes on Spectrum.

Andy has reclaimed top spot from Evs in the FFScout moderators and contributors league. In TorresMagic’s Last Man Standing competition, just 50 managers remain after the Gameweek 33 safety score was set at 62.

Elsewhere, in Red Lightning’s Top 10k Any Season league James Ollerenshaw continues to lead. While his triple captaincy of Romelu Lukaku failed, he scored an impressive 79 points thanks to double clean sheet points from Wayne Hennessey and Scott Dann. He is now up to 58th in the overall standings. Nial Akata still leads Red Lightning’s January to May League.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round Ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spread sheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

Ok, I brought Everton and Palace in for two double game weeks but they look a doubt for this weekend so just shifted them out for nailed on single game weekers that play in 35 - I think I will get the same minutes out of the SGWers as I will for these DGWers

    Luk to Vardy
    Delaney to Alder
    Lennon to Alli

    Dgea Robles
    Smalling Bellerin Gabriel Alder Fuch
Sanchez (c) Coutinho Alli Payet De Bruyne
    Mitrovic Vardy Martial

Bit of a mix, staying away from the punts of Iwobi, Rashford, Fosu, Origi etc as I am not convinced about their game time with the Man U and Arsenal players coming back from injury and Klopp's penchant for resting or rotating

Worried about not having Kane and Aguero .... may be punished

BB played, worried about Gabs and Couts but can't have everything

    Robles Darlow
    Smalling Fosu Bellerin Gabriel Sakho
Sanchez (C) Payet Lanzini Coutinho KDB
    Martial Aguero Lukaku

Going to stick with that and not take a hit getting rid of Lukaku, he would probably troll me anyway.

Thanks all - was wondering if we had heard anything regarding Barkley's injury.

      - think getting Milner in kills 2 birds with one stone - replacing Barklyey with a DGW player (giving me 14) and also setting up a full squad for GW35. Worried by only 1 MU player.

      Using BB
      Robles (Darlow)
      Fuchs Dann Bellerin Smalling Sakho

      Aguero Lukaku Mitrovic

Just look at Ozils recent form, bar the goal last week he was blanking regularly. With Iwobi and Sanchez playing Ozil is not going to be used as a goal threat and the chances he does create are likely taken by Iwobi in order to play the ball to Sanchez, Giroud or Welbeck.

Sergio has the best goal per minute in Prem history, they are against Newcastle who are going down and Sergi bagged 5 against last time, also he is a big game player and if anyone is scoring against Chelsea it's him! 😀

        That's my opinion xD

    Adrian

    Moreno Bellerin Fosu-Mensah

    Payet Sanchez(C) Townsend Iwobi

    Studge Vardy Kun

    Bench : Forster , Mahrez , Alder , Huth

    ITB : 0.7 M

It's the way Leicester are playing at the moment, they don't look like scoring many and Vardy and Mahrez could easily blank this week and then you will have to hold your breathe mid week when the second round of games are played.

I have Mahrez but not Vardy but if I were you I would do Mahrez to Milner 🙂 Vardy looks like he has more goals in him 🙂

    Question:

If you were in a ML with more or less casuals, who seem to be leaning to Aguero TC...Would you still stick with Sanchez? Would be a differential, but an Aguero haul would hurt.

Coutinho Sanchez (TC) Iwobi Payet (Mahrez)

Can not mentally rationalize taking a -4 on Lukaku to an injury-prone Sturridge who's in a pool team with points always spread out, as well as, Mitrovic, who happens to have PK duties but also plays for a terrible team. But I do like how Newcastle have two home fixtures.

they're likely to miss the game he wont risk him playing 3 games in a week after a knock eve if he wants him to....he might play the derby

Those taking hits, are you getting players who are playing in GW 35 even if it means sacrificing a little for gw 34? Or are you just getting the best players for GW 34 even if they aren't playing in GW 35?

I went best players... have 10 starters for 35 though.

I particularly ask this as I have to get cresswell or otamendi
Otamendi gives me the security of a full XI in GW 35, also I have mitrovic, in case Newcastle don't score & mitrovic blanks, I get otamendi CS as consolation

I'd just get the best player. Since Cresswell plays a double in GW37 too, the total number of matches will even out. So, you could either get one more match in GW35 by going with Otamendi, or one more match in GW37 by going with Cresswell.

So, yeah, just get the guy you think will score more points between now and the end of the season. (FWIW, I think it's Cresswell..)

I guess I'll get cresswell anyway for GW 37, another thing is, albeit it's a weird reason
I have mitrovic, I'm thinking if Newcastle don't score against city, mitrovic blanks, atleast I got otamendi CS as consolation

Fair enough. You should follow your gut.

But I still see it as a math problem. If you plan on getting Cresswell later, why not just get him now? You know there will be other transfers you'll want/need to make for GW37, so you're basically saying Otamendi needs to outscore Cresswell by at least 4 points (since the delayed Cresswell transfer will, essentially, cost you 4 points).

              Good luck!

Sense a lot of people getting in united players for their great GW 34 fixtures (for example fosu, martial for lukaku, etc.)

Think we're all panicking a bit after a poor GW 33 and all the news about potential rotation

        I have the same conundrum
        Cresswell vs otamendi

        I like otamendi
1- if city keep Newcastle out, I'll be sad as mitrovic would have blanked
2- I can easily see sakho coutinho or Kdb rested in GW 35, that's where otamendi comes in

Tough choice, but I can see the appeal of otamendi (even though I really hope you're wrong about sakho coutinho kdb rested in GW 35, as I have all those players)

When it comes down to it, I may need to just be mentally prepared to take some hits next week....

A hit in GW 35 is what I want to avoid, hoping that it'll put me in a better position than those who do. I have the same 3 too, but remember GW 33 & 35 are eerily similar in that both preced European nights! I'm more or less confident that one of the 3 will be rested

Very true, happy for city and pool but can't help but wonder how much less of a headache this would be if they were out of european games...

If I hold on to this FT I'll have 2 going into next week to make exactly 11 (assuming those 3 play)....yikes

Are you currently chasing or trying to hold a lead? Might affect which player to bring in

Which is why I was supporting & hoping that Dortmund get through, but anyway, I'm chasing, but not a huge lead, a good GW will mean I lead as he doesn't have BB

      Barkley should go.

Lukaku seems likely to play the 2nd game which is the derby so... could go either way.

Make sure you make BB Active *now*

Jagielka to Rojo since Jags is injured

Bolasie -> Iwobi for -4 seems a reasonable punt
