The Weekend Team News

Dele Alli is suspended for Tottenham’s final three league matches. Philippe Coutinho is doubtful for Liverpool’s trip to the Liberty due to illness, Everton’s defence is hit hard by injury and suspension for Bournemouth’s visit, whilst Santi Cazorla is back in the frame as Arsenal entertain Norwich at the Emirates.

Dele Alli will miss the rest of the season after he was handed a three-match ban by the FA for his altercation with West Brom’s Claudio Yacob on Monday evening.

Mamadou Sakho has been handed an initial 30-day suspension by UEFA whilst they begin to investigate the Liverpool defender’s failed drug test. The Reds are sweating on the fitness of Philippe Coutinho for Sunday’s trip to Swansea after he was forced off due to illness in last night’s Europa League loss at Villarreal.

Wilfried Zaha is rated as “50-50” for Palace’s trip to Newcastle due to a hamstring injury.

Everton are without injured trio Phil Jagielka, Seamus Coleman and Gareth Barry for the visit of Bournemouth. Ramiro Funes Mori serves the second of a three-match ban for the Toffees, whilst Roberto Martinez has revealed that teenage attacker Kieran Dowell could be handed a first-team opportunity after scoring a hat-trick for the reserves on Monday night.

Ciaran Clark is back in training ahead of Villa’s clash with Watford tomorrow. The defender will be included in the squad if he comes through training without any problems today, Erik Black confirmed. Kieran Richardson remains sidelined with a calf injury, whilst Gabby Agbonlahor has had his club suspension lifted and will be available for selection from next Monday.

Sunderland have a fully-fit squad for their visit to Stoke after Jeremain Lens recovered from the illness that ruled him out of last week’s goalless draw against Arsenal.

Slaven Bilic confirmed that West Ham have a clean bill of health for their trip to the Hawthorns.

Santi Cazorla is available for Arsenal’s home match with Norwich and “might be involved” after an extended period on the sidelines. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is back in first-team training but remains a major doubt.

Swansea are without Alberto Paloschi and Leroy Fer for the visit of Liverpool. The duo have been sidelined with hamstring problems amid reports that they may not play again this season.

Etienne Capoue is unlikely to play again this season after being forced off in Watford’s FA Cup semi-final defeat to Palace with a knee injury. Quique Sanchez Flores has revealed that Odion Ighalo rejected the chance to fly back to Nigerian following the death of his father and is will be available for selection.

Adam Smith and Harry Arter remain sidelined for Bournemouth’s trip to Goodison, Eddie Howe confirmed earlier this morning. The Cherries boss also revealed that Max Gradel is “improving slightly” and is hopeful the winger will step up his fitness after missing out last weekend with a leg problem.

Tony Pulis is hopeful that Ben Foster will return to training today after missing Monday’s draw at Spurs with an ankle problem. Saido Berahino is back in training after missing out with a similar complaint, though Pulis will make a late decision on his availability. The Baggies boss went on to reveal he hopes to hand some minutes to youngsters such as Jonathan Leko, and Tyler Roberts before the season is over.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

Any suggestions of a less than 8.3m Midfielder to replace Alli - unfortuantely I'm missing the extra .1 for Payet or Fabregas 🙁

I'm worried of his rotation if Loftus cheek comes back in. Do you think he's nailed on? I think i'd sooner wait a week and bring in Fabregas and hope KDB gets some minutes - thanks though

although I don't really want him, I think my rival may go for him, i'll be monitoring his money and transfers to see if he makes this move. Something to play for nailed and in form... I don't know why I don't like him - I think it's the DGWK fever

Sturridge obviously cannot (or will not) play 2 x 90 mins in a week.
Sturridge must start and play 90 mins in Liverpool's most important game of the season, on Thursday.
So, it could be Benteke to start on Sunday, with Sturridge not getting a full game.

    1. Bobby_Baggio
      • 13 Years

Disagree - sturridge will start and more then likely come off around 60mins - why bench him two games in a row if he is in form

        You could be right.
But the uncertainty of 90 mins rules Sturridge out as a captain choice, for me.

You have to do it by matches not gameweeks due to the blanks and doubles.

I've tried both gwks and matches and matches is the fairest - only thing you have to do is remove the odd one like him.

BTW- hope you've been switching all your tables from gwks to matches. GWK last fours etc are meaningless with the blanks and doubles.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree. 🙂

Here's my version of that table, sorted by chances created as well. Much better when sorted by matches.

              http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/my-stats-tables/view/4483/

A key reason is that Doosra's recommends Navas and the injured Silva, while mine recommends a certain West Ham sensation. The reason for that is because Man City had a double and no blank over that time so their players will come out higher in the skewed gameweek filter. Given their blank West Ham mids will always struggle to compete in the gwk filter.

I'll definitely stick with matches over gameweeks I think. 🙂

What are people thinking of doing with KDB? Pondering two choices:

    1. KDB+Sakho -> Payet+Smalling - 4
    2. Sakho -> 4.7M def (not sure who!)

Already have 2 West ham, so can't replace smalling with a WH defender in 1. Any thoughts?

    A. Defoe- 2 home games. Tough fixtures. All to play for.

For everyone considering their options this week, I think the best bit of advice I've read is get rid of your players who are certain to miss out.

That means Alli and Sakho need to go.

For me, I have quite a few doubts (De Bruyne, TFM, Gabriel, Clyne, Milner, Sturridge..) but this is the bed I've made to lie in. This week, I'm pretty set on Alli to Townsend (or perhaps a last minute punt on Khazri).

Bellerin and Delaney in defence are sure starters, so I can risk Gabriel or Clyne alongside. If these don't play, TFM may earn a start in the Utd line up you just never know. Worst case scenario is 2/3 defenders.

A -4 to get rid of Sakho and Alli will pay for itself if you have them and try to avoid other hits (same as every week) is my advice.

    1. ppp
      • 14 Years
      8 years, 6 days ago

I agree. The doubt comes in when you've only got one of the two - is a -4 worth it to get rid of one of the maybes? I can live with gabriel on the bench (he's cheap anyway), but KDB/Sturridge on the other hand are a lot of money tied up...

The only caveat I'd add with that is that Sakho is very low owned. So it'll take longer for him to fall. Also if you have three nailed on good defenders this week it makes no sense to remove him just to bench his replacement this week.

so for me I want to play Simpson, Smalling and Bellerin....I think all are capable of a clean sheet and anyone I get in for Sakho would be to replace one of them and for a hit.

Sakho definitely needs to go in GWK 37 though.

yeah good point, if you have 3 playable defenders you can afford to wait (value doesn't really matter)

Not many in your situation though Jonty, a lot of Clynes, Lovrens etc. Milling about... Who knows if they'll play. My defence for example is a bit of a mine field, if I had Sakho instead of Clyne say, he's need to go (Clyne, Bellerin, Gabriel, TFM, Delaney)

That's why I've moved away from the Sakho>PvA move, having done Defoe last night. Think I need to ditch Alli for a -4 as I'm playing Smalling,Bellerin & Gabriel in defence with only Simpson as back up for Gabs on the bench & nobody to replace KdB if he doesn't play.

Playing about with wildcard and this is my first draft. Decided to stay away from Liverpool as much as possible as rotation could be a very big issue.

    Gomes - DDG
    PvA - Smalling - Bellerin - Moreno - Azpi
    Ozil - Payet - Sanchez - Antonio - Hazard
    Lukaku - Carroll - Deeney

Then next week change Ozil > Pedro.

    Thoughts?

Not feeling Aguero's game time this week and chasing points I'm taking a punt this week. So if Nasri is fit for this weekend do I do:

    a) Aguero + Alli > Rashford & Payet
    b) Augero + Alli > Carroll & Fabregas

Or if Nasri is still injured:

    a) Aguero + Alli + Nasri > Rashford & Payet & Fabregas
    b) Augero + Alli + Nasri > Carroll & Fabregas & Payet

I could even afford Hazard instead of Fab or Martial instead of Rashford.

      This is the rest of my squad btw;

      DDG / Lloris
      Moreno / Bellerin / Cresswell / TFM / Simpson
      Iwobi / Sanchez / Milner
      Sturridge / Kane

That's not my starting XI, just the rest of my team without the players mentioned above. I'm not that ballsy! ha

I think you will be smacking yourself selling Aguero - 60 mins is more then enough for Aguero to get goal/s

Who do you think is likely to get more minutes this week?

    Clichy, Coutinho, KDB or Mitro

Guys is this madness for a -12?

Out: Sakho, Coutinho, KDB & Kun
In: Smalling, Payet, Hazard & Lukaku

Thought if Lukaku was going to score it would be at home to Bournemouth....as for Haz...when they play spurs the title could be done and dusted....that could work out!

It could work out, but it's two big punts for -8 - lukaku needs no introduction, and haz has been poor all season bar last game, I'd like to see him this week before committing..

I agree, and to add to this, I think just doing cout->payet this week would be fine (I imagine you can't afford sakho-> bellerin on top of that). Just bench sakho this week.

Not against Spurs. DGW's an option though!

Fair point. If you're happy to start the other four and bench him, but prepare for the DGW, he's an option.

Surprised that so many are opting for Hazard over Westwood this week. Westwood is a lot cheaper and theyre both on form woth two goals last weekend.

Other mids Sanchez Ozil Mahrez Payet. No budget issue

Don't Premier League rules mean that teams *have* to give a pre-match presser?

What would you do for a 1 week punt, I got WC for next week.

    A) Alli -> 7,6M (Arnautovic/Siggy/Barkley/Townsend/Other)
    B) Delaney -> 5,8M Defender

If A: Who should I get, and who should I bench?
IF B: Who to get? (Dawson will be first sub)

    DDG (Forster)

    Moreno Dawson Bellerin (Fuchs Delaney)

    Firmino Ozil Firmino Mane (Alli)

    Sturridge (C) Kane Aguero
