The Weekly Shop – Gameweek 37

We bring the curtain down on Wednesday with a visit to the Weekly Shop, as we analyse the player lists of our partner games to pinpoint the likely targets that will make up our own weekly squads.

As always, we divide the player analysis into two parts: I’ll assess the key targets that no squad can do without in “Better Buys”, before seeking out those one-shot “Poundstretcher” prospects that can provide us points, whilst freeing up funds.

For this week’s selection, we’re focusing on the FantasyBet and DraftKing player lists.

Better Buys

Manchester United travel to a Norwich side that have failed to net in three straight matches. David De Gea (FantasyBet 5.5m, Draftkings $4,200) has five clean sheets in eight outings and should do well at Carrow Road, though a trip to West Ham on Tuesday poses more of a problem – given that the Hammers have scored at least twice in their last seven, the Spaniard’s shot-stopping abilities will be called into action, meaning save points are likely to be on the cards.

Slaven Bilic’s side may be scoring for fun but a shut-out at the Hawthorns was their first in seven attempts. Visitors Swansea have blanked in back-to-back matches on the road and provide the Hammers a chance to record a twelfth clean sheet of the campaign, while United have scored only once in their last three away trips. Aaron Cresswell (FantasyBet 5.5m, Draftkings $4,100) is our pick from Slaven Bilic’s defence, with the raiding left-back producing a goal and assist over his last four appearances.

It’s been a remarkably underwhelming season for Eden Hazard (FantasyBet 10.5m, Draftkings $5,500), who has finally shown glimpses of last year’s form by netting three goals in his last two run-outs. The Belgian’s six goal attempts over those last two ties is more than the midfielder recorded over his previous 12 league appearances, suggesting a recent stint on the sidelines appears to have revitalised him ahead of trips to Sunderland and Liverpool.

We turn to West Ham once again, with their pair of home ties and prolific scoring record making Dimitri Payet (FantasyBet 7.5m, Draftkings $8,400) and Andy Carroll (FantasyBet 6m, Draftkings $5,200) prime candidates for our squads. Payet continues to be the main source of creativity for the Hammers, recording an eleventh assist of the term in the 3-0 win at West Brom, while Carroll also turned provider against the Baggies and has struck six goals in as many league outings.

Jurgen Klopp has preferred to utilise Daniel Sturridge (FantasyBet 10m) in the league while resting the striker in Europe. Thursday night should reveal more about the German manager’s plans but having started six of the last seven league matches, the Reds frontman could be worth investment, having netted five goals over that period.

Poundstretchers

Sunderland have been building a case for survival having lost only one match in eight, whilst three clean sheets in five highlights their late-season resilience. Victor Mannone (FantasyBet 4m, Draftkings $3,500) has made 19 saves over four matches and should be busy again with Chelsea and Everton both visiting the Stadium of Light over the next week.

Bournemouth may only have one match this Gameweek but a home tie against a West Brom side that have scored only twice in seven looks promising in the last home fixture of their debut top-flight season. Charlie Daniels (FantasyBet 4.5m, Draftkings $3,900) remains our choice route into Eddie Howe’s rearguard, whilst further up the field, Matt Ritchie (FantasyBet 5.5m, Draftkings $6,400) and Josh King (FantasyBet 4.5m, Draftkings Forward $4,400) look to be the Cherries attacking assets to select.

Andros Townsend (FantasyBet 5.5m, Draftkings $6,600) continued his fine recent form by netting Newcastle’s crucial winner against Crystal Palace last time out. It’s three goals and two assists in six matches now for the winger and a trip to Aston Villa affords Rafa Benitez’ side to strengthen their case for survival.

Another former Tottenham player is our pick of the budget forwards. A fourteenth goal of the season at Stoke re-affirms Jermain Defoe’s (FantasyBet 5m, Draftkings $5,300) credentials for the two upcoming home ties. The Black Cats frontman has scored the majority of his goals away from the Stadium of Light but, having had 13 attempts in the box over the last four (second only to Carroll) he will be Sunderland’s main threat for must-win matches with Chelsea and Everton.

These are the contenders for my weekly contest lineups. On Friday, I’ll also bring you up to date on my progress in FantasyBet, as I continue my quest for profit in the 2015/16 campaign.

    So what's the consensus.

    Keep or Ditch Aguero?

I'm keeping over Kane I think. He's chasing the Golden Boot and City need to get a result of some kind against Arsenal so he'll play that one. Swansea is more of a risk but I'll assess again leading into GW38.

Hmmm im not so sure. Will Arsenal really concede many goals?

Kane is arguably in better form and has the better fixtures. Plus Kane is cheaper so allows spending elsewhere for DGW'ers

Yep, I'm not decided as yet. I just worry about Spurs and if they can lift themselves. They only need a point to seal second whereas City need to get a win ideally to stave off United. Much depends if United win/lose at Norwich.

He should and hopefully will if he's after the Golden Boot. But Pellegrini has Iheanacho and also Bony going back to the Liberty.

I think this is a big point, coupled with their losing out on the title. Plus Southampton aren't exactly leagues behind Arsenal as a defensive prospect

It's a 'ditch' for me I think. Arsenal are no mugs and there isn't a lot of spark in this City side at the moment. I'm expecting a tight game.

Is Simpson --> DGW defender worth a -4?

(Have Mignolet and Gomes in goal but can buy a Liverpool defender and play Gomes)

The blue chip choice seems to be Payet. Carroll, Defoe, Hazard look to be the other serious contenders. Certainly some other punt options with dgw on tap.

            Robles Darlow
            Bellerin Alderweireld PVA Simpson Fosu-Mensah
            Sanchez Hazard Payet Mahrez Milner
            Aguero Kane Defoe

1 FT, Nothing in the bank

Alder -> Cresswell and just leave it at that or would it be wise to transfer out either Aguero or Kane for Carroll as well?

                      I want Hazard. But

                      Vito* - Ruddy*
                      Rojo* - Cresswell* - Kirchoff* - Moreno* - Reid*
                      Sanchez - Firmino* - Fabregas* - Payet* - Ozil
                      Aguero - Martial* - Defoe*
                      +0.4, 1FT

                      (GW37 BB, GW38 AOA)

the only way I can get him in 1FT is to sell Sanchez. I was fine with this for 1 week only until the Kompany injury. Still a good idea to do Sanchez->Hazard iyo? I'm torn.

I really hope Arsenal win/draw so 4th place is in United's hands, but I have no idea which way it will go. Not a clue.

                      Great scout cast this evening.

                      Thinking taking -12

That's a lot of hits, but I doubt anyone can really say if it will pay off or not. So I'll say this... would it give you more enjoyment making the moves? If the answer is yes then do it imo. Live a little.

I would hold off on the Simpson move. Everton look done, and hits for defenders rarely pay off, double or not.

Not a big fan of hits, but it could do. Don't think Darmian to PVA is worth it, though.

1FT and 0.9 in the bank. Thoughts?

                      Schmeichel
                      Mangala - Cresswell - Smalling
                      Mahrez - Payet (C) - Lingard - Fabregas
                      Carroll - Kane - Aguero

Play Robles and Mangala > PVA or Baines and I'd say you're set up very nicely hit free.

Other option, Mangala, Kane > Ivanovic, Martial/Deeney/Defoe -4

I don't think Robles is gonna get the double though. I believe I heard something about Howard starting?

The Mangala shout looks good though, I may do that.

Howard will play just the last home game against Norwich. Is safe for the double as they're both away. That's as far as I know, not 100% on that but pretty sure.

Might just do Robles and hope. I seem to remember hearing something similar about the home games.

The more I look at this the more I think I'll go ahead with it

Mahrez (EVE) + Aguero (ARS) -----> Hazard (sun/ liv) + Sturridge (WAT/ CHE)

For a -8 but not 100% yet 😕 Mahrez and Aguero always have potential..

Looking at doing Gab, Alli & Kane to one of the following:

                          a)Hazard, Carroll and Kone (Sunderland)
                          b)Hazard, Cresswell and Deeney

What's the best move? (I have 2 WHAM and Defoe already)

Yeah, there's not a 'no brainer'. Think I'll do something a little different. Might even consider Deeney as a real differential. If Pool play the kind of team they did against Swansea he could be quids in

                          Who would you start?

                          A) Mahrez (EVE)
                          B) Sanchez (mci)

Everton are dire and Leicester have wrapped it up; could either be in party mode or turn it on for the home fans.
Arsenal haven't looked too convincing lately either.

If you were 25 points ahead in a 500 euro ML and your 2nd placed guy had his TC would you take -8 hit to cover the players he has and potentially will have to bring in.?we both hav 5 dgwers. He has hazard no Payet.
I was tinking of getting PvA, hazard, and Carroll for sakko,Iwobi and kun.
Rival will surely buy payet (I hav lanzini) and I'm guessing he will TC hazard or payet.

In any other week I definitely wouldn't. Since it's a double so late on though it might be wise, because you then have another transfer next week to make your teams even more similar.

You have to be sure that he is actually keeping certain players though. Watch to see how many transfers he makes.

IF Liverpool don't make it to the EL finals

                          How does this sound:

                          Rose + Kane + Coutinho to Lovren + Hazard + Sturridge -8

The game is less than 3 days after EL. Getting Liverpool is so risky

Given the proximity of Pool game to EL, bench Milner's theoretical DGW and play Sanchez?

I'm playing Milner. Don't think Klopp will risk playing all those kids at Anfield

That's what I'm on at the moment. Agree with your reasoning, plus there's no international travel for this leg.

                              D. Mane is a patchy player. Gotta play him after a hatty imo

Actually, ignore this. Seeing it written down there's no way I'm benching b c or d

Rashy, with a DGW? Guess he isn't that prolific really, but that's a tough call all the same. Utd bringing more threat lately

Could work out best, but the popular choice will be Payet. Carroll might even be more popular.

That's what I'm on for now. It's either that or Payet for me, but Payet seems so, I don't know, uninspired?
