The Stock Check – Gameweek 6 – Monday

A typically disciplined Burnley performance nullifies Watford’s recent attacking verve and earns a precious three points at Turf Moor. Here’s the Stock Check after Monday brought the curtain down on Gameweek 6.

On the Rise

Tom Heaton
A second clean sheet of the season promoted Heaton back to the top of the FPL keeper rankings on 27 points.

Priced at 4.6, Heaton goes on confirming his value in well-drilled Burnley defence that, at Turf Moor at least, should go on generating shut-outs.

Michael Keane
Arriving in the Premier League with a reputation as a threat from set-pieces, tonight Keane delivered his first Premier League strike.

Five goals during Burnley’s promotion season flagged up his goal threat and saw him claim a 5.0 initial price in the FPL. While that has since fallen to 4.9, we’ll need to see more from Keane to warrant that outlay with Heaton an option in goal.

Steven Defour
If we ever go knocking for a Burnley midfield with 6.0 to spend then Defour will be our go-to option.

Clearly a class act, the Belgian has registered three assists a goal and six bonus points in his Burnley tenure so far. He is, however, still to complete 90 minutes.

In Decline

Jose Holebas
We were grateful to see him fit to claim his starting role at left wing-back but this was not an enjoyable evening for the Greek.

Pinned back in the first-half by a determined Clarets, Holebas was forced into a traditional left-back role with Walter Mazzarri’s tactical changes as the Hornets chased the game.

More significantly, he earned a fourth booking of the season and is now just a single yellow away from a one-match suspension. After suffering defeat in the EFL Cup, they also don’t have the option of allowing him to absorb any suspension outside of Premier League action.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Prodl and Britos look fairly safe but they don't look like getting many clean sheets. The appeal of Holebas is his attacking potential, I'd just accept the suspension and bench him that week.

This. I think the suspension can be irrelevant if you have enough cover in the defence. His attacking prospects are very tempting.

Pretty sure Britos is nailed on, has pretty good baseline stats so should be in and among the bonus points should Watford keep a clean sheet.

    Heaton (Pickford)
    Valencia Williams McCauley (COLLINS, Amat)
    Sanch Sterling Antonio CAZORLA Capoue
    Kun Lukaku (DIOMANDE)

    Chopping block players in caps.

    a) Collins > Bellerin/Kosc
    b) Cazorla > Mane/Firm/Coutinho
    c) Diomande > Rondon/Rashford (in rotation with Capoue)

Definitely leaning towards b) woud love some insight lads.

Seems like we're still in the dark over defenders. Everyone is doing so bad, we don't have a bigger picture after 6 gameweeks, we know what to expect from the attacking ones, otherwise nothing is clear. For the cheaper defenders especially.

Can understand, to an extent, the Ibra exodus last week. Kun was back, KDB and Sanchez both firing and lots of different options emerging. But, I cannot understand why people are getting rid this week, before a home game to Stoke. I hope he punishes them!

Costa has Hull, Lukaku has Crystal Palace, Sanchez has Burnley and Aguero is Aguero. I'm really not concerned, Stoke have been doing bad, but they're probably the best team out of the ones mentioned.

Anyone looking at Abel Hernandez for the upcoming Hull fixtures?

Hes in my thoughts as a 3rd striker. Probably just behind callum Wilson in my preference. But yes he's an option for when I need to free funds.

Arsenal defence is essential. Your rank will suffer heavily in the coming weeks without.

Err doesn't look like defenses are existent not to mind essential at the moment

Just seems too hard to predict ATM, with so much clean sheet uncertainty everywhere I don't want to buy an expensive Arsenal defender for 2 pointers

Agreed with the last point, that's why I'm going Cech, although Kosci is worth the price for his goal scoring returns.

One of them will be a valuable asset for sure

Clean sheets are currently a differential.

Bit of an exaggeration to say rank will suffer heavily without but Arsenal defence do look good yes.

Can see your point but I disagree, money better spent in midfield and upfront. Clean sheets at a premium, goals flying in all over the place.

I had planned to do Tekkers to Deeney this week leaving a 0.1 buffer to move Caz to Sterling next week. With Sterling rising tonight should I:

    A) stick to the plan and keep an eye on the prices so I keep the exact money
    B) take a -4 and get both in now?

    Thanks

Gonna call an early possible punt...and just based on nothing at all other than guesswork and a need for change.

It's fairly common knowledge that Conte has used three central defenders very often in his managerial career....surely it's time to revisit that...or he must certainly be at least contemplating it...

Azpi ftw vs Hull could be tidy....

Definitely. Snodgrass never rests though and it's hard to imagine they'll be playing with 10 men again and even then they scored. Both times, both against top 4 teams.
