The Weekend Team News

Charlie Austin looks set to be sidelined for Southampton’s clash with Middlesbrough due to a shoulder injury. Hector Bellerin faces a late fitness test as Arsenal entertain Stoke, while Tom Heaton has a chance of returning in time for Burnley’s encounter with Bournemouth.

Hector Bellerin is set for a fitness test today as he steps up his recovery from an ankle problem ahead of Arsenal’s home match with Stoke.

Tom Heaton is expected to be fit for Burnley’s clash with Bournemouth. Speaking at yesterday’s pre-match press conference, Sean Dyche confirmed.

“He’s had a good few days, we’ll wait and see. As long as there’s no reaction he’ll be back in contention. It’s different training with the physios to training with the team.”

Seamus Coleman returned to training yesterday morning after recovering from the knock that forced him off against Man United. Ronald Koeman has confirmed he expects the Irishman to be available for the trip to Vicarage Road. Yannick Bolasie is set to undergo knee surgery after sustaining ligament damage against the Red Devils and is out for the season.

Claudio Ranieri suggested that Kasper Schmeichel “could be ready” to return for Leicester’s clash with Man City. The Foxes remain without Danny Drinkwater, who serves the last of a three-match suspension.

Charlie Austin is ruled out of Southampton’s home match against Middlesbrough. The forward was forced off with a shoulder injury in last night’s Europa League clash against Hapoel Be’er Sheva, with Claude Puel conceding:

“Charlie has a shoulder injury and we will see this. I don’t know how many times he stay out but it’s important for us. I don’t know but he cannot play for the next game of course”.

Puel has since confirmed this in his 11.30 press conference this morning.

Earlier this morning, Tony Pulis conceded that both Gareth McAuley and James Morrison will be assessed ahead of West Brom’s trip to Chelsea on Sunday.

“Morrison and McAuley haven’t trained this week so we’ve got a little bit of concern over the two of them. They’re knocks but they haven’t trained so today will be a big game for them because it’s the three-game week. Whether we play them Sunday and risk them for Wednesday (against Swansea), I’m not sure. It’s something I’ll have to sit down and talk to the doctor about.”

Ryan Shawcross is “unlikely” to be fit in time for Stoke’s trip to Arsenal, though Mark Hughes has confirmed that both Bruno Martins Indi and Marko Arnautovic have been passed fit.

Michail Antonio and Aaron Cresswell are both back in training and have been passed fit for West Ham’s trip to Liverpool.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

Since we compared lists last time I'll post mine again...

      CHE.............-9.8
      LIV.............-12.7
      MCI.............-14.6
      SOT.............-15.8
      ARS.............-17.0
      CPL.............-18.2
      MUN.............-18.2
      TOT.............-18.4
      EVE.............-19.0
      WAT.............-19.1
      BOU.............-20.7
      SWA.............-20.8
      MID.............-22.1
      SUN.............-26.0
      STO.............-27.6

      LEI.............-30.0
      WBA.............-31.8
      HUL.............-31.9
      WHM.............-38.3

Broadly similar although a few notable discrepancies - my model has Man City looking far more likely and Middlesbrough far less likely than yours. Looking rationally I don't like my figures (especially with the Austin injury) but lets see what happens 🙂

So I have already done Aguero > Costa this week. I am ranked 425 in the whole thing (not bragging just putting my thought process into context). Team is:

    Cech (Pickford)
    Holebas Daniels Clyne (Amat, Nyom)
    Mane Sanchez Hazard Philips (Allen)
    Defoe Costa Austin*

Need to take a -4 so should I do:

    Austin > Nacho
    Austin > Origi
    Allen > Oxlaide-Chamberlain

If i did the last option id wait to move Austin on next GW dependent on prognosis.

    1. Teror
      • 9 Years

Your intuition has taken you to 425th place. You're unlikely to find someone that will give you better advice than your own reasoning. I'd say Austin > Nacho short-term, but I'm ranked around 900K so frankly, my advice is worthless.

In a similar boat, had done my transfers (had 2 in the bank) and then had a decision to make over Austin. Opted for Nacho. His points per minute are great, and even if he doesn't start I'd still expect some sort of return from him.

Is Oxlaide-Chamberlain sure of starts? If so I quite like that option, would serve you well. Only downside is having to wait out Nacho/ Austin price changes and is then leading you into a 3-5-2 more so than a 3-4-3.

Listening to the ScoutCast and hearing Mark's comments on price change algorithms and the likes, and that FPL might be playing fast and loose with them in terms of changing targets each week to suit the market etc.

Does that not mean FPL staff (Martin Ackford(?) & co) who play FPL could be guilty of insider trading of sorts? After all there is prizes up for grabs.

Fellow managers I need some advice...

Feeling the pressure to stay up and around the rank im at 116 OR(90 last week)..

Planned this week to play AOA , front 8 below.. Used 2 ft's to get there and planned WC next week.. Now with Austin throwing a big spanner in the works Im not sure if a -4 will pay especially where I am in rank, every single pts is vital..

    Haz Sanchez Firm Siggy Zaha
    Costa Lukaku Austin**

So I can play either McAuley(possibly inj) if not prob a 2pt player, or Pieters again another 2pt player in place of Austin... Or -4 Austin to Nacho/Defoe , but then that new player needs to score 6 to break even.....
So logic tells me play the defender & scap the AOA...
I really dont know what to do, i dont want to fall down the rankings...
Any of the seasoned pros here care to provide some much needed advice..

    Thanks

It could but I suppose it depends on the way you play FPL. If I was in your situation, I would do it. However, you may be a bit more of a conservative player than I am (hence the higher rank, possibly) and not want to take the hit.

Austin may be out for a while, so trading him out might pay off. He often needs some games to get back in shape when he sits out. I did Austin -> Iheanacho fwiw.
Understand your reluctance with hits in your position, but if a player gets injured I think it´s justified 🙂

Well, can't see WBA conceding on counter attacks, as they will be comfortable not having the ball that much. I think it will be a tight game with few goals.

Depends on how well Chelsea dictates the game. If they speed the game up and take an early lead, then goals could fly. Personally I think Chelsea is so dangerous both with possession and on the counter - they will score regardless. Very clinical

    Pickford
    Alonso - Francis - Lovren
    Sanchez - Firmino - Sigurdsson - Pedro - Capoue
    Kane - Costa

    Boruc, Amat, McAuley, AUSTIN

Already took a -4 and have 1.4m ITB still sitting. Was planning on upgrading Pedro--> Eriksen next week with the funds, but now Austin is out... So:
    A) play Capoue
    B) Austin -> Defoe (another hit)
    C) Austin -> Benteke (another hit)
    D) Austin -> Iheanacho (another hit)
    E) Upgrade Amat/McAuley --> e.g. Cedric and play 4 def?

Yup. Fair. My bench is ok so looking for more assurance on the severity of Austin's injury. They do have a good run, so if he can be back next GW, it would be ok to hold him in my case.

Is bringing in Hennessey for a hit for a 1 week punt v Hull worth it. Seems a good chance for a cs for Palace.

Jaku out & Hennesey in & play over Foster.
