The Big Numbers – Gameweek 27

In our final article of the evening, we check in on the Opta data in the first members’ article of the Gameweek, pinpointing some of the most impressive performers over the ten fixtures so far.

Delving into the numbers, our attentions turn to in-form midfielders from Everton and West Ham ahead of a reduced Gameweek 28.

Swansea and Southampton both supply us with a pair of eye-catching assets, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s numbers come under analysis as his owners take to the transfer market in light of today’s suspension.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

People taking -4's for players like Llorente, King, Lanzini, Andy Fkn Carroll. Bizarre no?

    1. diesel001
      • 7 Years
      7 years, 1 month ago

Llorente I have done. I think he has form and fixtures so worth it for effectively a -2. But King and Lanzini etc. I don't understand. Liverpool and Everton players I also understand taking the hits for - good longer term options.

It is actually easier to take -4 since your bench is no longer 2 points, but zero since no one has a playing bench this week. Having said that, I haven't been able to pull the trigger for Llorente yet.

      1. caldracula
        • 8 Years

I agree with the "-2" but for players you'd like to keep long term/ or set up future transfers.

With a front 3 of Lukaku, Kane and Costa I wouldn't dream of removing any of them for a hit.

Incidentally, he was also the wine paired 7-course meal you had earlier. People tend to forget that

I agree. The problem is he is no longer delivering any success. There is also outstaying your welcome. He appears to be tactically stale as younger managers can run rings round him and he doesn't quite know how to adapt/react. He lost won the league over a decade ago, he stubbornly refuses to buy a DM and a world class striker, they do terrible in Europe every season getting this far and then getting kicked out. The wine paired 7 course meal was so long I can't even remember what I ate anymore.

If he weren't so stubborn and spent money on a world class/already in his prime CD, DM and striker rather than a cheaper 20 year old then he would have more options to shore up his defence though. The club cannot advance with him at the helm. He needs to step aside.
