Fixtures

Double Gameweek 34 Confirmed

Earlier this morning, the Premier League kindly helped to relieve the monotony brought on by another international break by confirming the rescheduling of a number of fixtures that were previously postponed due to FA Cup ties.

The following matches have now been moved into Gameweek 34:

Chelsea v Southampton
Arsenal v Leicester
Crystal Palace v Spurs
Middlesbrough v Sunderland
Manchester City v Manchester United

As a result, we now have three teams set to play twice in Gameweek 34 – Crystal Palace, Middlesbrough and Manchester United.

Palace hardly have the most appealing pair of fixtures – Big Sam’s will now travel to Liverpool before hosting Spurs.

Middlesbrough face two vital relegation clashes, with a trip to Bournemouth preceding their home encounter with Sunderland.

Man United, meanwhile, will hit the road twice – making their way to Burnley before rolling up to neighbours City on Thursday April 27 in the final match of Gameweek 34.

As a result of this rescheduling, those holding West Bromwich Albion players should be aware that the Baggies are the only team that will face a blank in Gameweek 34.

The Premier League have also revealed that the remaining postponed fixtures will be confirmed “on or around Friday, April 7”, which is just prior to the weekend of Gameweek 32.

At present, there are six matches yet to be afforded a new date:

Arsenal v Sunderland
Chelsea v Watford
Leicester v Spurs
Man City v West Brom
Southampton v Arsenal
Southampton v Man United

We’ll go into more detail on the knock-on effect of today’s news in future “Scouting the Doubles” fixtures nearer the time but, for now, this is just a heads-up.

I'm still considering playing the 2nd WC now, might get 7 DGW players from Man Utd, Palace and Boro, then fill the other 8 spaces with form players from teams who will have a DGW later on.

How many are you going to get from Palace and Boro, assuming we all get 3 from Utd.

Not much to gain from those gw34 doubles

Crystal Palace vs. Liverpool & Spurs (No way)

    Middlesborough have no assets

Man U away to City & Burnley (If Ibra is back then maybe, but no other assets)

Yes he is, but not too great

1 CS vs Burnley maybe, but not vs. City

so he's not gonna score big if he doesn't get attacking returns

Yes I was one of those who had him...

But I'm not saying that Valencia is a bad asset for gw34

I'm just saying that he's not a great asset, and the DGW is by itself a poor one

            Only viable assets are:

Ibra, Valencia, Van Aanholt, maybe Zaha, maybe Gestede

    Sorry, bottomed.

Thoughts on Lukaku to Vardy just for the next two?

Lukaku has liv (a) and mun (a). Vardy has STK (H) and SUN (H), much better fixtures.

Then swap back afterwards. Playing the fixtures in this case could work out well IMO.

Mmmm...very meh. Bringing in DGW players from some of the teams who have struggled to score this season might be a really poor strategy. I'd be willing to bet Spurs could score as many goals in one game as Boro and Palace do in both of theirs....in fact they could even out score them both combined at a push.

Having said that I love Rudy and this could be the ideal time to get him if he nails his spot.

I think the early wildcard is now less appealing than before. It would be easier if there wasn't suspensions and injuries.

We'll have to wait on Sanchez news, we don't know how long Kane is out for yet, Ibra suspended this week.

They're all players you'll probably want longer term, especially for 37. The DGW34 lineup isn't one to get excited about and I don't want to fill my team with Palace/Boro players for now.

those are the type of teams that somehow get a great score in DGWs

I'm sure someone will from those teams and I might still get a couple in but I don't think it's worth an early wildcard. Lots could change between now and 35/36/37.

Just had a quick check. I might do Ibra, Valencia and possibly Valdes. If I have nothing else pending, may even do Lanzini to Zaha. That's it though.

I've already played it and happy to do some surgery for the run-in. Concentrating solely on Gw28 did my rank a power of good and I'll be set up for the rest of the season now.

Ibra can have a placeholder, same with say Sterling or Sane, Sanch can be brought in as normal.

      It was always pretty unappealing.

This grand idea was being floated of wildcarding in GW30 for the rest of the season and everyone was going to live happily ever after.

Why anybody would hypothetically wildcard in 30 for DGWs in the future 33/34/37) is beyond me. Two weeks and half your squad are injured, suspended or last weeks news.

its just that ill probably have a pretty solid defensive line in gameweek 37 thanks to the bb.... id have to spend lots of points transferring defenders out for strong midfielders. its quite the dilemma.

Not necessarily, we shouldnt just assess the timing of the WC based on doubles, its a major factor for sure, but there are many decent matches to be played between now and wk36 and having the right players for those is important.

      1. Hotdogs for Tea
        • 8 Years
        7 years, 1 month ago

I totally agree, but the early doubles do not suggest players that you would want to get early or keep in your team, except for the odd Utd player.

Unless you want to reset a dodgy team, there is no 'need' to WC now 'specifically' for the double gameweeks.

You can plan a team as normal with free transfers and a few hits to get the best players for the each week (as normal management) rather than WC and reluctantly carrying a few DGW players that you wouldn't ordinarily pick.

The team I want next week and the week after etc. is likely to be very different to my GW37 'burner' team.

GW36 WC for a pure DGW/BB team is what I will do, but it may not be for everyone.

Players need to think long and hard about planning to use TC in DGW37. We know that teams faced with three games in a week, if they have nothing to play for, start to throw on all sorts of bit part players. It's a trap.

Agree with that if you mean th mid tablers. Top 4 and relegation fights to go to the wire I think. Title race could even open up with Chelsea's fixtures getting tougher (Everton, United away, City at home).

Don't think so. Of the remaining matches to be scheduled, Arsenal, Che, Spurs, City have an FA cup in GW 34. So, most likely they won't play thrice. Same for United, who already have a double. Any additions will mean a triple GW and I doubt that'll happen.
