Dugout Discussion

Dugout Discussion – Crystal Palace vs Burnley

With just two goals from Saturday’s action so far, we now turn to the tea-time kick-off at Selhurst Park to provide some much-needed entertainment and Fantasy returns.

Crystal Palace host Burnley having enjoyed an influx of investment on the back of their double Gameweek 34, ensuring that many will have interest in this evening’s encounter.

Christian Benteke – one of the few success stories with a 14-point return – heads into the match backed by 608,000+ FPL managers, with 172,000 opting to hand him the captaincy ahead of the Clarets clash – that includes 21 of the top 100 managers.

In contrast, Wilfried Zaha owes his recent investors. He was brought in by 144,000+ ahead of Gameweek 34 only to return just three points. More than 46,000 have shipped him out ahead of today’s clash.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

If someone balloons a penalty over the bar, does the keeper get save points even if he hasn't touched it?

Who was who saved the penalty on to the post and it rebounded on to their back for an own goal? Penalty + own goal + loss of clean sheet all in one.

Or did i make that up?

I've just changed my mind about ditching Heaton. Will ditch Pickford > Willy instead as Sunderland are relegated and have terrible fixtures even if they do have a double. I'm going to downgrade Ward-Prowse > Fletcher to enable

Capoue is probably the best bet. Has a double in 37 although fixtures aint great. Better than Fletcher though

I had some time to spare earlier and I decided to make a table consisting of the potential of attacking and defensive returns for each team from now until the end of the season.

I reviewed each team's fixtures and rated the likeliness of Attacking returns and Defensive returns from 1 to 4 points, 1 being Very Unlikely, and 4 being Very Likely.

    Attacking
4 - Team is very likely to score a few
3 - Team is likely to score a few
2 - Team is unlikely to score a few
1 - Team is very unlikely to score a few

    Defensive
4 - Team is very unlikely to concede
3 - Team is unlikely to concede
2 - Team is likely to concede
1 - Team is very likely to concede

    For example,

    GW36

    Arsenal v Everton

Double-figure (attacking) returns in my opinion are "Unlikely", so that means 2 points are given.
Clean sheet (defensive) returns in my opinion are "Unlikely", so that means 2 points are also given.

I did this for every team and every fixture until the end of the season and I included chances of attacking returns and defensive returns.

Teams with more fixtures are more likely to get high-scoring returns as at least 1 point will be given to each team in each fixture.

    Results
    -----------

    Attacking returns point table: http://i.imgur.com/Kq1Z5ww.png
    Defensive returns point table: http://i.imgur.com/wjwApCe.png
    Overall returns point table: http://i.imgur.com/7ZX819G.png

Overall, it seems as if Chelsea players will deliver the most FPL points from now until the end of the season. The current PL leaders in their next 4 fixtures face Middlesbrough, West Brom, Watford and Sunderland; 3 of which have nothing to play for, and the other team Middlesbrough, has a poor Premier League record in 2017.

It is likely that this table may make so sense at all for you whatsoever, but this is completely opinion-based by me and I am taking into account which each team has to play for from now until the end of the season

I haven't even checked my grammar and it probably makes so sense at all. Cheers for reading.

    A) Zaha, Benteke > Hazard, Jesus (-4: Bench Vert and Baines)
    B) Baines, Zaha > Gabriel, Hazard (-4: Bench Vert and Benteke/Stephens)
    C) Zaha > Hazard (FT: Bench Vert)

    Willy
    Stephen, Yoshida, Alonso, Vertonghen, Baines
    Eriksen, Sane, Sanchez
    Gabbiadini, Kane
    BENCH: Jaku; Benteke, Zaha, TCarroll

1FT, 6.0 ITB, NO WILDCARD; I will be getting Jesus, Hazard and Gabriel for Zaha, Baines and Benteke before GW37, it's just a matter the order.

Defoe's a decent penalty taker. So is Kane when he doesn't slip. Charlie Adam. James Milner.

As many, I'm trying to make a nice wildcard team.
May I have your opinions on this?

    Cech Caballero
    Alonso Yoshida Smith Lowton Maguire
    Eriksen Sanchez King Alli Hazard
    Kane Costa Barnes

    0.4m left itb

*Cech = their cheapest nailed defensive cover with 2 dgw
*Caballero = their cheapest nailed def cover, with favourable fixtures and 1 dgw
*Alonso = bought early (cheap), attacking threat, 1 dgw, favourable fixtures
*Yoshida = cheap and probably nailed way into their def, with 2 dgw
*Smith = cheap with favourable fixtures
*Lowton = cheap and nailed cover for Heaton, with favourable fixtures
*Maguire = cheap and nailed, attacking threat, decent fixtures and motivation to avoid relegation
*Eriksen + *Alli = can't ditch any of them as they're top level and (so far) are hugely motivated
*Sanchez = wish I could do without him (so expensive) but he may do wonders in 2 dgws
    *King = no comment..
*Hazard = may win them the title
*Kane = can't do without him
*Costa = ditching Lukaku for him, hoping he found his form and will do his best to win the title
*Barnes = seems the only nailed and possibly worthwhile option at that price

I didn't choose any Liverpool (unpredictable performances), ManCity except GK (rotation risks), ManUtd (rotation due to Europa, injuries, fatigue), Soton (none of them convinces me).

Sorry for the long post 🙂

BB is saving itself to be played on dgw37 🙂
All this planning for BB gw37 distracts me from actually evaluating gw36 fixtures, in case I'm missing someone obvious.
Is there anyone I might regret not having on 36?

Only the Watford game in 36 looks appealing. Even Bournemouth seem to have got their act together defense wise.

They have possibly the worst DGW 37 fixtures from a defensive point of view, along with West Brom. Naturally, I got Brunt...

Any feedback on my draft WC? Have gone about GK heavy with both Willy and Heaton. Plan to BB in 37. Should I do Lukaku > Gabbi/Jesus and upgrade Capoue?

    Willy - Heaton
    Blind - Gabriel - Yoshida - Holgate - Daniels
    Sanchez - Hazard - King - Albrighton - Capoue
    Kane - Costa - Lukaku

A few less players with single games in 37, makes the BB more attractive then?

I can't ship Lukaku, Daniels and King with those fixtures plus my rival has them and I need to block him as he has no WC left

Rather than block him, why not pick your own better team with WC DGW players and back your skill against his ? Also increase your OR at the same time ?

Isn't that the purpose of all of this ?

          1. Jet5605
            • 9 Years

Thing is I brought King and Daniels in months ago and believe they are worth holding. Look what happened with Rash, Zaha and Negredo DGW picks. Blocking my rival is a calculated move as I don't need to go gung ho for the sake of getting DGW players

            1. Hotdogs for Tea
              • 8 Years

I understand that (Zaha and Negredo were silly punts) but would you honestly be keeping Lukaku and Daniels in a WC team if you were not blocking?

With Man City, Spurs, Chelsea all having great doubles and Arsenal having two doubles, Man U a double ... there are great options available that you seem to be passing on.

There are better DGW options to Heaton, Daniels, Capoue, Lukaku etc. and to be honest your team looks a bit like a blocking team rather than a WC team to get the most points possible ...

But if that is what you enjoy, making sure that you win a ML by tracking your rival, then great and sincerely I wish you the best of luck 🙂

    GW35 AOA chip played...never again!

    Pickford
    Baily Yoshida
    Sanchez Alli King Zaha Hazard
    Gabbi Kane Benteke
