Next up in our summer series of team-by-team analysis of the 2016/17 campaign are Manchester City.

We start by checking out the team performance levels over the previous campaign to look for any trends of improvement before assessing the Citizens’ standout individuals ahead of the 2017/18 season.

The arrival of Pep Guardiola helped the Etihad side up their points total from 66 to 78 last term, yet they finished some 15 points off the summit for the second successive campaign, claiming third position in the Spaniard’s first year in charge.

City also improved their goal tally, from 71 to 80, which was again the third best on offer, six behind Spurs at the summit.

    Some would say crap midfield and mention the balance issues but somehow I think this team can bring a lot of points at the beginning of the season. Thoughts?

      that frontline hurts your team imo. Maybe downgrade Alli -> Willian or Sane, and upgrade Phillips or Ritchie? Gives you a player from Chelsea / City as well. Or maybe Firmino instead of Laca.

        I thought about that actually. For the last 3 seasons, I always do my best to make a balanced team in terms of both covering major teams and also spreading the cash to positions equally as much as possible. However, I always end up getting low points at the start of the season. This year I wanted to change that. Imagine my frontline is scoring braces every week and Alli-Kane is continuing from where they endend last season without Wembley effect. This team can be gold and my TV may increase rapidly.

        But I will take your advice into consideration, thansk for the reply!

        Was hoping Benteke could repeat his form away at liverpool last year too. Other options around this price? Liked Defoe but fixtures not ideal... maybe downgrade a defender

      Kolasinac will probably be starting left back for Arsenal, so offload Monreal. And double Soton in defence could be a risk. You could save some money in defence and spend in attack. Other than that - looks pretty good for a first draft.

      Miliviojevic or Cabaye won't be dropped, and he's just made Puncheon captain this morning.

      Triple Spurs not too much if you think about the individual players - Kane, Alli, and Trippier are top picks in their respective positions.

      Triple Soton is too much for me though - we have no idea how well they are going to play with a new manager so I don't think gambling everything on a set of fixtures will work out

          Defenders get their 120~150 points from playing every game.
          Its not enough to get you a good OR
          For that you need to transfer in/out MID & FWD on form/fixture and aim for 200+ each from that

          Its why nearly everyone goes 3-4-3 / 3-5-2
