The Numbers Game – Swansea City

Swansea City are the next side to be assessed as part of our in-depth team-by-team analysis series for members.

We start by checking in on the team statistics in an attempt to spot trends or improvements over the past 12 months before we shift to analyse player data, as we attempt to narrow the field ahead of the new campaign.

Having been ensconced in the security of mid-table in 2015/16 – claiming 47 points to finish in twelfth position – the Swans were left floundering last season. With just three wins in the opening 19 Gameweeks of 2016/17, the Welsh outfit looked doomed at the midway point until the arrival of Paul Clement.

Appointed as successor to Francesco Guidolin, the new manager chalked up four victories in his first six fixtures to steer his side out of the drop zone. Swansea ultimately clinched fifteenth spot on 41 points – seven clear of relegation, scoring 45 goals.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Im convinced Pickford at 5m is the best GK pick of them all.

Not to start the season given their fixtures but im hoping as hes highly owned he comes down in price just in time for when their fixtures turn.

Yeah at GW6 when their fixtures turn he could be a great pick up at 4.8 or so for sure!

Giving Laca a go might make next Friday night more fun.

Issue might be if Kane starts from where he left off and rises to 12.6 when you don't own. In the early days, that could be really tough to adapt to

I think Zaha and Willian are decent value. The previous article said JWP played a part in 38% of Southampton goals last season and they've scored a few pre season and have fantastic early fixtures. I prefer him to any 6.0 (I think).

      Intriguing one, filler candidates aplenty

      - Rangel will probably not play much, with Naughton the RB I think
      - Mawson could be of interest; attacking threat
      - Narsingh (5.0) was quite productive for the short time he was given game time
      - Carroll could take some of the creative burden from Siggy if he ups and leaves - I'd also prefer to be starting Carroll over any of the 5.0s (Puncheon, Mili, Ndidi)
      - Tammy with 23g last season for mid-table Bristol City, no mean feat, and scoring in preseason... 5.5 enabler extraordinaire?

About time for my first RMT this year after some intriguing transfers and preseason matches hat have kept us entertained for the last few weeks:

    heaton elliot

Rare RMT for me, would like some opinions.

    Heaton (4.0m)
    Kompany Trippier Bertrand (Schindler, 4.0m)
    KDB, Willian, Gross, Pogba (Carroll)
    Kane, Lukaku, Vokes

    0.5m in the bank.

Actually seeing that on paper I quite like it. Pogba the only player thats a real punt BUT if he plays further forward he could be brilliant, interested to see Matic in and then Super cup team. Other option would be to find .5m more then upgrade him to Coutinho but avoiding them early on due to possible rotation.

Very similar to mine so I like it.. Personally might be tempted to have JWP over Gross for first few fixtures but that's mostly as I'd expect Southampton to outperform Brighton.

If you wanted to find the extra 0.5m Kompany > Stones is an easy switch.. Former is more of an injury risk anyway, albeit also more a goal threat.
