Introducing – Yahoo Daily Fantasy Football

Fantasy Football Scout are delighted to announce Yahoo Daily Fantasy Football as our brand new partner game for the 2017/18 season.

While this may be a new game to many of you, Yahoo is, of course, a hugely well-known and trusted name. They were also one of the first to pioneer an online Fantasy Football game, with their season-long game one of the most engaging around.

Now Yahoo have returned with a daily Fantasy sports offering that we will be covering throughout the season.

That also means we will be able to present you with some fantastic offers, including a huge free-to-play half-season tournament with over £40,000 in prizes and perhaps even the chance to win £1 million. No, really. More on that later this week.

Yahoo are also providing a superb introductory offer for our visitors whereby, if you deposit £5, you’ll get a free £50 credited to your account. See the foot of this article for details on how to sign up and get started.

What is Yahoo Daily Fantasy Football?

If you’ve played any daily Fantasy Football or “DFS” games before, you will be instantly familiar with the concept of the Yahoo game.

You have £200 million to build a team of 11 players that you can enter in a variety of contests that are either free to play or have an entry fee with cash prizes on offer.

Each player has a value assigned which changes week-to-week based on their performance and popularity in the previous Gameweek.

The scoring system is more detailed than both Fantasy Premier League and Sky Sports – but that’s a good thing. Based on Opta data, the scoring brings a wider range of players into the mix, including those often-neglected defensive midfielders.

We will have an in-depth article, examining the nuances of the scoring system, very soon.

Yahoo’s contests allow you to tinker with your line-ups right up until kick-off, so you can monitor teamsheets and use the “late swap” feature to swoop for bargains and remove absent players.

Week to week, we will be bringing you our Yahoo Focus articles to help steer the nucleus of your XI for the weekend contests.

Why Should I play?

While so much of the Yahoo game is familiar and easy to grasp, it’s very different in a number of key ways – not least because it is very friendly for new players.

The game operates a “Fair Play” policy, with many of their contests allowing just a single-team entry, while others allow only up to ten teams per user. This levels the playing field and increases the chances that new players can compete for prizes.

There are also “no veterans” or “rookie only” contests which allow you to play and learn the game before taking on experienced managers in bigger contests. However, if you become a seasoned player, you can, of course, take part in contests that allow 50+ teams.

As mentioned, the scoring system is also finely balanced and perfectly suited to our visitors.

We are all familiar with Opta data and, if you’ve got yourself a Fantasy Football scout membership, you already have access to statistics and tools to help you select teams in the Yahoo game. We’re even building custom tables and will be implementing player prices into those tables in the coming weeks.

The Yahoo game is also fully localised for a UK audience. That may sound like a small thing but, with other daily games talking in dollars and asking you to build “rosters”, it’s nonetheless a welcome touch.

The other main reason to play is that the game has a huge range of contests for all players. There are free-to-play games, contests with entry fees as small as 25p right up to £1,000 for the high rollers.

You can register now and compete in the Gameweek 1 £10k contest that offers a £2k top prize for a £5 entry fee.

How Do I Start?

Yahoo’s Gameweek 1 contests are up and running so you can register an account and get started immediately.

As mentioned, if you register and deposit £5 or more, Yahoo will also give you a £50 bonus to be used in-game.

  • Register here
  • Deposit £5 or more and use the code FANTASY50 to claim your £50 credit
  • Choose a contest and start selecting your first Yahoo squad.

Later this week we will bring you news of the huge Fantasy Football Scout Yahoo Cup contest, which is free to play and with £50k in prizes.

Look out for details of that and further articles on the Yahoo Daily Fantasy Football game to come before August 11.

You must be over 18 years of age, resident in the UK, and of legal capacity to register with Yahoo Daily Sports and open an Account. If you sign up, please always play responsibly.

    Herrera being overlooked?

    - Nailed right?
    - 5.5
    - More advanced role when Matic plays deep

    Or stick with Fraser?

      Balanced = boring.

It's a good team but with an early WC available why not go completely unbalanced for a few weeks. It's better craic and it's fixable if it doesn't work out.

Slightly dull...follower of a crowd...low risk kinda guy.

            B, but would do:

            Milli -> T. Carroll
            Abraham -> 4.5

            Playing 4-4-2.

Fraser did have decent returns last season though.

My only concern is if he starts though. Will look at the last preseason game for clues

Lol, you may have right 😉 If so, I do Fraser -> JWP.
If JWP bot playing either I play T. Carroll next week, save 2FT and downgrade elsewhere. I take my risk 🙂

He gets more minutes he looks like 150 + right now but who can say. Looks like value at 5.5.
I would consider a punt for first 2 weeks but that seems very short term to me.

To be fair I think people read the articles here and take some advice and I think Fraser was noted as a god option in the budget midfielder article.

            5-3-2 players and 4-3-3

Check the top 10 defenders score from last season. And then remind yourself Chelsea broke records and this season play champions league.

            It's not pretty reading

Any formation can work- its the choices you make to fill the formation, transfer timing and good captain picks is what matters.

You got to factor in that money saved by going 4 or 5 at the back allows a few bigger hitters up front that are all viable captain options.

I agree there was a chasm between Chelsea and the other defenders but you can't look at those number in isolation.

For the first time in PL history, multiple top 6 sides will play 343/352 with genuine WBs consistently. Historic data cant be used to predict these WBs true value imo.

            KDB Alli Salah Willian RLC
            Lukaku Defoe

            Elliot 4.0 4.0 Gayle

            0.5 ITB

No please, no thank you 🙁 no grav 🙁 great username though, it made me laugh, lol. So original.

GKs are fine. The 3 starting defenders look good too but you are one non starter away from having only 10 players in a GW.

              1st 4 mids look great.

I don't like Gayle/ RLC rotation, it screams 1 or 2 points per GW from one of your crucial front 7.

Don't like Defoe at all as a pick this year, especially at the start.

Begging for trouble with two 4.0's down back though.

This game is won and lost in the midfield.

Five of the top seven scoring players in FPL were classified as midfielders, with only one of the top 12 ranked midfielders (Gylfi Sigurdsson) playing for a side that finished outside of the top six.

By comparison, only four of the top 12 scoring FPL forwards (Harry Kane, Romelu Lukaku, Diego Costa and Zlatan Ibrahimovic) played for teams that finished in the top eight.

There's more midfielders than forwards on the pitch at any time. This breaks your argument I think

                I'm quoting FFS.

                Either way, points don't lie.

Because sanchez was arsenal forward and he is not going to be anymore
Liverpool has false nine and city has rotations.

Is this just not because teams tend to play 1 up front?

I would have totally agreed with you for the last two seasons and went almost exclusively 352 last year. But last year was the year for it the way some top mids were priced, but that boat has sailed don't see the value in midfield this year.
Having said that some midfielders priced around 9-10 will equal or outscore their forward equivalents that cost 2 mil more.

This game is won and lost by having a good start, regardless of what formation you plump for in GW1.
Followed by the careful use of weekly transfers and avoidance of hits.
It really doesn't matter where the points come from, GKs, defs, mids or forwards.
I got 15 points from Holebas one time and he's the worst player I've ever seen.

            Klopp in clyne:
He's on the way back but he's had no pre-season so far so, for him, it will not only be tight for Watford, it's pretty much impossible
Surely will miss watford and also hebis likely to miss palace match?

I think I'm settled with this now with just over a week to go!
            Thoughts?

            foster - myhill

            Trippier - Monreal - Yoshida - Daniels - 4.0

            Ramsey - Willian - Salah - Tadic - Carroll

            Kane - Lukaku - Firmino

Personally i'd prefer Tadic > 5.5 maybe Fraser, Firmino > 6.5 maybe Austin and Ramsey > KDB...defo needs City anyway!!

Read a good community article about template and RMT
Foster was an obvious one. As this article pointed out Hart and Gomes are there are there as 4.5 options too. Just saying.

Gomes would be straight in my team if their home fixtures were a bit better, assuming Silva has a similar effect there as at Hull

            RMT out of 10...3-5-2 or 4-4-2 rotation....thanks.

            Daniels, Trippier, Bertrand (Naughton, Suttner)
Salah, De Bruyne, Pogba, Willian, Milivojevic
            Kane, Lacazette (Quaner)

Getting Jesus instead of Aguero is like when you decide to buy an electric razor on amazon, its not particularly something you want but you need it. You dont want to spend loads on it though, so you go through the reviews and find the cheapest one you can which sounds half decent. Then after you have used it a few times you realise how loud it is, how cack the battery is and the fact that it rips hairs out sometimes.
Essentially leaving you with the choice of either buying a new razor (getting the more expensive one you should have got in the first place) or persisting with the cheap one knowing that at any second it might decide to rip a hair out
