Dugout Discussion – Burnley vs Newcastle

The Gameweek finale falls on Turf Moor, for a Monday night encounter under the lights between Burnley and Newcastle United.

Fantasy interest is limited, in the main, to the defensive players on show. That’s a good thing scanning the statistics building up to this match.

Sean Dyche’s Clarets have scored the fewest home league goals this season, with just two efforts. But his defence have been typically miserly: only Liverpool and Manchester United have allowed fewer goals than the two conceded by Burnley.

Meanwhile, Newcastle arrive boasting just three away goals, only Everton and Crystal Palace have scored fewer.

Their goalkeeper, Rob Elliot, is the most owned player on show this evening. Now part of 26.4% of squads, the Magpies custodian trails only David De Gea (39.2%) in that respect. However, some 62% of Elliot’s 1.4 million owners keep him on the bench for Gameweek 10.

Stephen Ward has become the go-to option in the Burnley defence. The left-back is now owned by 14.7% of managers having already produced a goal and two assists this season, alongside three clean sheets.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      Might have thought it was too big a game for him so early on? Been playing well so doubt it was performance based. Bit more trust in Dier for the big occasion perhaps.

      Probably C since it includes getting Sané, though Eriksen is great as well. Wait on Kane though, I am skeptical that he will start against Palace.

        Yep you are definitely quite correct there if there is such a GW. And now not making a significant jump in points Ive backfired. But I had reasons like a monthly prize a few non-players and I guess greed, oh well will have to be careful from now on.

      we don´t know

      but he started very slow and was late to the party and for now it seems that he plays the important matches (ie, PL). Like Silva and de bruyne he was also "rested" vs Wolwes in Carabao (he plyed some minutes but very little compared to the others).

      Great team. It'd be nice to have Jones, but £100m budget means something has to give. Aguero + sterling + sane is only really going to equate to 180 mins of playing time, but whilst citeh and flying it'll also mean points galore. Rlc is good replacememt for whichever one doesn't play. My biggest concern would be morata. Chelsea have a good run up to Xmas, but vardy is way better value for money imo

          At least he's starting in EL, but as an Arsenal fan I hope he'll stay even though it's hard to find space in the starting XI atm for him. He's not a common Chamberlain ad he's committed to our club
