The Technical Area – Alonso vs Azpilicueta

Fresh from a comfortable 4-0 demolition of West Brom – their fourth successive Premier League victory – interest in Chelsea’s Fantasy assets is beginning to accelerate.

After a challenging opening schedule that pitted them against Spurs, Manchester City and Arsenal over the first seven Gameweeks, the Blues now enter the kindest window of their season’s fixture schedule.

Teams in bits so I feel I need to make changes

    Drop:

    Lukaku
    Kane
    Jesus

    Upgrade which midfielder:

    Chupo
    Sane
    Sterling
    Richarlison

Also still got Jones and don’t know whether to upgrade him?

difficult to tell when not listing your team as a whole. could you do that?

just by the look of it, Jesus is a big no, he will start vs the worst defensive team... Lukaku has agreat fixture so does Kane

Select a combo of transfers over the next couple of GWs

    A- Lukaku+ sterling+ richarlison+ Jones
    To
    Wilson+ Pogba+ Salah+ azpili

    OR

    B- Kane+ sterling+ richarlison+ Jones
    To
    Wilson+ hazard+ Salah+ Daniels

    A or B?

why Richarlison? you will regret it when he cost 7m and you want him back.. i know fixtures does look a little grim, but both United and spurs missing one defender each of much importance 8i know Jones isn´t rule out, but he will be). Watford attacks no matter who the opponent are and especially at home. Richarlison thir main threat and the way he plays he is always in great positions/in surroundings of goals opportunity. Watfords schedule from Gw16 and onwards looks great. Kane out before West Brom despite this blatant superstition he cant score vs deep lying defence at Wembley is not advisable. Wilson bound to get either injured or rotated.

          Kane
would have been Kun if i was certain he would start but i´m not and Kane is a super captaincy option this week so no regrets even if blanks, which he won´t

        It's either richarlison or Gross
I want to get two out of Pogba Salah hazard
Not selling Kane this week, probably doing majority of these transfers in the midweek fixtures
But looking at dropping one of Kane/lukaku to add two of hazard Pogba Salah with maybe azpili or Daniels coming in defence

i was in the camp that thought one should keep Jones, but now it seems like there´s actually some decent options in that bracket and Mustafi and Arsenal´s fixture looks decent enough and with the uncertainty surrounding Jones´ injury i would say yes. Mustafi edges Maguire in cs as i think arsenal keeps more cs than Leicester, but Maguire is a monster in the box so might even out, go for what you conceive is the best for your team.

same conundrum and it´s not easy that one. I landed on Rlc but really a toin coss, because it´s difficult to predict the games outcome. And even if one predicts the outcome right it could very wel turn out to CM that gets you most points..
Benteke will do something with that line-up and not sure how it will play out for RLC, stationed at right midfield could both hamper him or it could make him great, well just have to wait and see. Palace´s last 3 home games have ended 2-1, 2-2 and 2-2 which bodes well for goals, and their defence is not great to say at least. Making costly mistakes all over the place. One argument pro CM is he is a goalscorer while RLC more is an assister.

Eriksen is very important for Kane's success imo. Eriksen played bad vs Dortmund and Kane didn't get the ball much. Scored on his only sog.

Sane vs Eriksen is very close in my papers. That's why I'm hesitant using FT for it. But I want Sane eventually and unless I sell Hazard, Eriksen is the only way to get him. What do you think?

totally agree with you, my questin was more related to the way you phrased your concerns. Eriksen obviously important to Kane´s outcome and he has been off the boil for a while. So i follow your logic in that if captaining kane one might as well put a in a stock for eriksen as well. But as i see it i would rather have Sané both because i´d want him and thus to "cover" City´s extremely nice fixtures (and here is cover meant not to cover anyone else, but to make sure you have the most in form attacker in the most attacking team vs one of the most leaky defences kind of "cover" also you still get some cash for the trade which you could very wel lose out on if waiting any longer (not that cash means that much, but if one decides to make a transfer anyway why not gain some money in the process as well?

Very difficult to call. I'd be more comfortable with A, personally, but it's marginal.

I just don't understand that Niasse ban. Dann steps up into Niasse's running line. Clear contact. Niasse fells down easily but still it's a foul. I think ref made right decision to give a penalty as Dann were not even trying to play the ball. He just cut Niasse's running path. Usually you do not get penalties from those but it doesn't mean that's wrong call. And now they give him 2 match ban. Ridiculous. There must be many ban's incoming so good to keep 2 FT available.

i don´t disagree with you in your assesment of situation, but i think the panel probably found that the way Niasse clearly over-acted/simulated, was largely or the main reason to punish him. Compared to Richarlison ealrier in the season the latter fell quite easily but he didn´t made a great fuss about it/made an audition for a an oscar reward, but there can be arguments made both way i guess.

That's true there is arguments in both ways but 2 match ban is really heavy penalty if you compare it to some violent conduct cases which would give you 3 match ban. If that's 2 match ban then straight red should be 5 match ban.

yes it can be felt a little harsh but it is not compared to violent conduct it is judged on the basis of how it affects the match, both as a football match but also it´s a matter of principle (cheating is not allowed) and it could affect the league table and to some degree which teams goes down or not.

I also think they wil benefit from differentiating these kind of incidents, as clearly situations are not alike as for example Rich and Niasse is an example of.

I agree with you that most cases of violent conduct should be given a ban for several matches but aagain, there is differences in these cases too. Some incidents are so mean they should be banned for three and maybe even more but some are lesser inflictments so could be argued that only needs a game or two. For example Rojo trying to put his foot upon a head lying on the ground is far more dangerous and disgracing than Shelvey´s out of his mind step on spurs players toes. First one is dangerous to the other players health as the tinnitus is very unprotected part of the human skull while a foot is obviously important for a footballer it´s hardy constitute any danger to the player, albeit measuring the stupidiness of Shelvey´s action is beyond any metrics-)

No. He was barely touched. It's not a foul at all in any part of the pitch. It's a disgusting dive from a player who knew he couldn't score from the position he was in and the ball where it was.

If he couldn't have any chance to score why Dann stepped into his lane? Imo stepping into other players running lane without even trying to play the ball it is a foul.

It's very difficult to say in the future which is heavy contact and which is not. I can understand it is a dive after the foul but I cannot understand how that's 2 match penalty when he has been fouled. Maybe I don't know the rules well enough.

1/ There was another defender in front of Niasse and Dann who was 100% going to get the ball regardless. That is why he dived.
2/ He didn't "step into his lane" unless you consider his "lane" to have free space on either side of him. Football is a contact sport and shoulder to shoulder is more than acceptable.
3/ How is it difficult to say what is heavy contact? We have slow-motion HD replays; we can see almost exactly how much contact there was.
4/ He clearly dove (literally, by lifting his legs as if he was tripped even thought it was shoulder to shoulder) and the contact didn't justify a foul/penalty according to a team of three professionals who had to unanimously decide with HD slo-mo replays from every angle. That means a penalty was given when it shouldn't have been, which means he willingly deceived the ref by diving, which means it's a two match ban.

On wildcard have 4.9 to spend on third striker. Got Niasse in for 4.9 but since got up to 5 and banned for next two. Can’t see any other viable options other than DCL but means finding an extra 0.1 from somewhere. Worth just keeping Niasse for the two banned games for his return?

I would play Carrol and hope he gets some minutes... Dunk could be in danger of -1 even if i actually don´t think it will. United will surely win but with a tight program i think this is a classic 2-0 win, on half machine second half kind a game.
