Dugout Discussion – West Ham vs Leicester

Gameweek 13 gets underway at the London Stadium as West Ham entertain Leicester in David Moyes’ first home match in charge.

The Hammers’ recent home form underlines the work at hand for their new manager – over the last two in front of their own supporters, they’ve scored one goal and conceded seven.

With that in mind, it’s little wonder that – outwith the injured Chicharito (9%) – every West Ham outfield player sits in less than 2% of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) squads.

We’ll be keeping an eye on our Spot the Differential candidate Manuel Lanzini, who scored in the corresponding fixture last season and also netted in the Hammers’ previous home match, against Liverpool in Gameweek 11.

While the hosts fell to defeat at Watford in Moyes’ first match in charge, their visitors have found decent form under new manager Claude Puel.

Aside from last week’s 2-0 loss to league leaders Man City, the Foxes picked up four points in the Frenchman’s first two in charge, scoring twice on both occasions.

Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy found the net in the 3-2 win away to the Hammers last term and both remain the men most likely to punish Moyes’ side.

Sitting in 4% of squads, Mahrez is certainly the form option tonight – he’d bagged two goals and three assists in four prior to last week’s clash with City.

Vardy has frustrated his 13% backers with a single goal in six, yet with the fixtures turning in Leicester’s favour once their midweek clash with Spurs passes, he could yet re-emerge as a third forward option over the festive spell.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Can’t wait for Hazard to start trolling owners!

    Around the same time last year he had his 18 point haul against Everton and after everyone jumped on him and sold Sanchez I’m sure they remember what happened.

    Going to ride the wave without him so much value in Salah & Sane with Alli, Eriksen, Coutinho, Mane, Silva & Pogba all viable options looking at the fixtures.

        I can definitely afford him if I don’t get Alonso. But that’s my point he’s not worth that much when all these other mids are more or less going to match him for less money.

        He is the biggest “FPL Troll”. Don’t know if you were an active poster last year but if you were you would know how people got frustrated owning him.

            Hazard finished with 225 points last season. Think that was 1 point less than Alli or 5-6 more that Eriksen.

            If Hazard doesn’t get more points than these mids is it a success?

            It’s basically paying 2m more for the same points.

            And the 2m is the difference between owning Alonso or 5m defender. Which is a huge difference in itself.

                    Mate you’re just trying to compare your Hazard 4 weeks back to these players. I haven’t said once it was a bad decision getting him at that time. But the same happened last year after he had 4 excellent weeks everyone jumped on him and he was the biggest troll.

                    Congrats that you got him 4 weeks ago! Youve probaly got his best points run this season. (That’s what I’ve been trying to say)

                      Ok, I get what your trying to say but wishing poor performances on managers is not the friendliest thing to do.

                      Im well aware of the article last season that proved Haz was the biggest fantasy troll of all but in the last 2 away games he has 3 goals and an assist so you can't base all your views on last season cause clearly something is a little different this season. Such as his role alongside Morata. If this continues then I won't be selling anytime soon if I don't see the obvious elsewhere.

      Good luck with that.
      Haz wasnt plauing centrally last time around.
      And he has the stats to back him up as well.
      Plus its an easy downgrade *IF* it doesnt work out. Thats a very big IF.
      With such fixtures after Pool away, he could even be captaincy material having pens too.
      And his price will only increase from here on.

          Because he wasnt playing as a 10 back then.
          I had repeatedly said, Haz plays deep in a 343.
          Since Chelsea have been playing 352, Haz has been great.
          Back then too when he scored a brace in UCL, Chelsea opted for 352 and then played 343 in the PL.
          Only Salah has had more shots on target in the last 4 games.
          Lets see how you resist getting him in after his exploits in the 2 home games after Pool 😉

            He played 343 all through last season and still scored 225 points so it’s not like he can’t play in that position. Let’s see by how many points he outscores these other mids.

        I don’t remember a Cheslea match when Hazard doesn’t play well. He’s probaly one of the best players in the PL but just not the best fantasy asset.

              Mane and Salah were only 1m cheaper at the start of the season.

              Coutinho 1.7 currently.

              Erik and Alli 1m at the start

              Silva/Pogba 2.5m yes but not all of them

              So by saying other mids, are you just talking about Sané, Pogba and Silva?

                Salah was 1.5m cheaper & Sane was 2m cheaper. That’s a lot of money.

                Also Spurs have played Pool, Arsenal & United in the last 4-5 matches. On current form you’re obviously targeting Alli & Eriksen for everything I say but wait for a couple of weeks mate!

                    Dude you have to get understand what I’m trying to say. 4 weeks ago you won’t have got Pogba, Cout, Mane, Alli & Erik because they had tough fixtures or they were injured.

                    Again I will repeat congrats you got him 4 weeks ago but I’m talking about the future. And if you read my reply above you would understand what time trying to say.

                    Let’s who comes out on top from here on.
                    Hazard vs Alli, Eriksen, Mane, Cout, Pogba & Silva + the money saved.
                    I’m pretty sure most of them will outscore Hazard for points per million.

                    Not counting Salah & Sane as they are anyways better options.

      Below was my explanation on one of the earlier posts on whether or not one should own Hazard:

      I want Morata after the Pool game and I don't want a Chelsea double up worth more than 21m.

      Who offers better value? Despite not owning him right now, I feel it's Morata long term. With the uncertainty around Jesus and Kun, Kane's impotency at Wembley, Lukaku's inconsistency - Morata just looks like a no brainer.

      On the other hand, midfield options are flourishing. Plenty of roses to choose from, at a lesser price.

      I have my own reasons as listed above for letting go of Hazard and buying Morata after the Pool fixture. But that doesn't mean I don't rate him as an FPL asset. For me, both are gonna deliver exceptional results but I'm unsure if I want to double up which means I've decided to go for Morata because of lack of consistent options upfront.

          I like Azpi + Morata. Not many might like this but Fabregas as the 3rd option might be good if you intend on a triple up.

          He's been getting inside the box more often in the 3-5-2, has been creating more chances and is priced at measly 6.9m.

        This is my thinking and is why I brought Azpi in last night instead of Hazard.Means I have Azpi Hazard Morata and Mane in the spot where Hazard would've been.21 million to much to have in one Chelsea basket and Mane Sane Ricky Zaha giving to much value in comparison to ditch.Didnt want to sell any of those.
        Having said that Hazard has been outstanding these last few games I fully expect him to rip it up over Nov Dec. My squad is more balanced without him though.

          That's last year man. Look at Sanchez this season. Look at the way Spurs are playing this season. Look at the way Pogba is playing this season.

          I WC'd gw8, brought in Hazard as a placeholder for all the mids you've mentioned above. If over the next 3/4 I see better value in Coutinho or Pogba (own Sané and Salah) then I'll ship him out to one of them. The fact is, Hazard has been my best player the last 4 weeks. Pogba has been injured and so was Coutinho for part of it. I will have no hesitation in dropping Haz when i feel the time is right but for the next 3/4 games I'm happy to own him at the moment. Just cause you didn't own him for the past 4, don't try to make it out like bringing him in on my WC was a poor decision

            But the fact is that even you won’t hesitate selling him if one other mid out of Mane, Cout, Alli, Eriksen, Pogba etc start performing. Not counting Salah & Sane as I think you probably own them.

                I’ve actually seen so many people sell Hazard before that Bournemouth game and now they are dying to get him back.

                And obviously as a Non Hazard owner I wish that he doesn’t score points.

                  I just thought it was a derogatory post. Like me coming out and saying, I hope DeGea starts punishing owners by conceding without Phil Jones in the side.

                  So much value from Pope this season, why would anyone want to spend an extra million on a goalkeeper.

                  Anyway, we'll see how it all unfolds. In the next few weeks if Hazards form doesn't keep up, I will be shipping him to Pogba or Coutinho and upgrading a defender to Alonso most likely because it is better value but until Pogba or Coutinho make a clear case for me, Hazard stays.

        Totally agree. That's why it'll be a historic sessions for me. I'm rooting for him (excuse the pun) because he truly is a class player. If Root goes, the Ashes goes as well. This is the most crucial part of the game.

    When you put it like this, Lukaku really doesn't seem worth it.

      I’m in three but all have more players so way less fun.

      Because they haven’t altered the scoring it means the pool of good diffs is thin.

      Fpl scoring in this format doesn’t work as well.

      Next yr I’ll only play it if in four Man lgs.. or they alter the scoring so that it’s more like Dugout.

        I own Morata too.
        But my point here is would you not get him in if he gets like consecutive double digit hauls too?
        And wouldnt you expect him to carry the same form FPL wise with those insane fixtures?

          Like I said before, unlike people who are rushing to buy him now; I've already owned Hazard and I sold him yesterday before the deadline.

          To me, both are will perform and should perform really well after the Pool game. The question is whether I want to spend more than 21m on 2 players from the same team? No.

          Do we have plenty of options in the midfield for a lesser price? Yes.

          Do we have enough consistent options upfront? No.

          It's the answer to the above questions that convinced me to sell Hazard and buy Morata on Sunday. I can still buy Hazard back if he goes mad against Swansea midweek but do I want to do it at the expense of destroying the rest of my FPL team? Probably not.

            I dont think you need to destroy your team to own him.
            It basically comes down to Alonso vs Haz.
            If Christensen nails down a spot, he could be a bargain too.
            So many factors to consider.
            Although I agree there are better value mids in there, but, having said that, I cant look past Haz as the best midfielder to own in the coming gwks.

              You see, we have our ways of playing the game.

              I'm a staunch 3-5-2 man and I don't like owning the RLC, Carrolls and sub 5m mids.

              My current attack is Salah, Sane, Richarlison, Silva (was Hazard prior to the deadline), Pogba, Kane (was Kun prior to the deadline) and Jesus (will become Morata on Sunday). I'm not even considering Azpi or Alonso nor do I have any plans to have any of those. Jones is the most expensive defender in my team, that should give you an idea. 🙂

              But I wanna clarify again, if you can fit Hazard and Morata and still find the right balance, then go for it. Doesn't work for me, should work for a lot of people.

      For me getting Hazard means Pogba and Zaha to RLC and Hazard, and can't play RLC most weeks so it means an over-reliance on Daniels and Ward, I plan to rotate them and don't think they are set and forgets. So Hazard is just too pricey for my liking.

          Could get Haz but just not sure reliance on RLC or Niasse for the sake of one player is a good thing
