I'd like to be able to access the stats a little easier - so can for example quickly search to find out who has got the mot MoM, or most bonus.

The MoM and bonus are unique to Sky and a key draw - be good to flag them up more. Perhaps a status page as FPL has but at least through a search function.

Also would be good to see ranking history - that's a big attraction for FPL and there are lots here - eg D1sable - with a good track record over a number of seasons that would be good for them to see.

I like the changes this season btw to the game. Overhauls are good.

Not necessarily as last nights weren't posted until 9am this morning. During that time, the Burnley MoM was changed from Arfield (Sky reported him as MoM in the match report last night) to Barnes.

didn't know they had changed burnley. I believe this has happened a couple of times in past not sure what influences the change. Though wouldn't some section that told you MOM be a bit pointless then if they can change them later.

Hi guys, pleased to introduce you to Luke from Sky. Please post feedback here both positive and negative. What do you like? What could Sky do better?

Use upvotes to help Luke out.

first thing I would suggest is to adjust the CS to reflect time actually played. Christensen last night is good example of player not getting CS based on losing goal when he wasn't playing.
Also not sure the passing bonus is perfect, the likes of city or Chelsea defenders getting 2nd tier bonus for multiple passes across the back line. Though perhaps your price of these players takes this into account.
Oh and perhaps better communication from contact us. I had dispute about captain points and only response was person repeating what I was pointing out as the error then blanked.
    other than that all good

      should also put positives
new captain system is excellent, not so much the pre selection as I think some veterans feel it caters for casuals more, but the actual layout is great. very easy to use

More filters in the player selection box for transfers would be handy, like recent form and pts per game. Even if we could sort via the Season Stats it would help I think. Thanks, love the game btw.

    Hello everyone,

Our team are always looking to improve the game based on what you guys want. The decisions we made this season were all based around feedback we'd received from our users and hopefully you think the changes made were for the better.

Please feel free to give us your thoughts on both what you like and what you dislike. If there is anything you'd like to see added let us know on here too!

    Thanks,

I personally don't like the Overhaul - makes the game too easy and leads to a lot of very similar teams after each one.

My preference would be to scrap them.

I like the overhaul as an idea but hard scheduling one 4 weeks in seemed daft. Just meant that you didn't pick what you thought was a good team at the start but rather a short term power play.

There is a way around that - the number of the league is like an ID in FPL. Find a league you're already in and replace the league number with the one you want to view

Let me start by saying most of the changes this year were welcomed, especially on the scoring system.

Personally, I don' t like the overhauls but many others do (as can be seen above). If they are to stay as a feature, I think the first one was way too early this year. Maybe delay this until the 2nd or 3rd international break instead of the 1st.

Ranking history idea posted by Jonty is an excellent idea. Would be good to be able to see rank comparisons between the gameweeks too.

Was surprised to find out last night that clean sheets can be lost by a player after he's left the pitch. That's a bit of a strange one for me so would be interesting to hear the thoughts of others.

Could you make the prizes for 2nd and 3rd a bit better?

£50k for 1st and £5k for 2nd, £1 for 3rd is too much of a drop off for what could amount to a few points or a dodgy assist!

First time playing the game and enjoying it much more than fpl. Think the bonus system and daily captains work really well.

Agree with many of the points above. Would add a couple minor ones:

    - It would be good to be able to play 5-4-1.
    - A bit more clarity around tackling bonuses. It seems the stats Sky uses are quite different to many other sources.

I can see the frustration over something like the Vardy assist. We take the stance of following Opta as that is more of a clear black and white than us retrospectively rewarding points which could be more of a grey area.

However, we will review this in the off-season.

I’ve been avid player of sky game past 5 years I would like to see

-more clarification on the tackle bonus , some sites show players getting 3/4 tackles but no points given
    - average gamewek rank score and average transfers used
-make overhaul to be used anytime over the course of the season

Don't particularly like the pass bonus as you shouldn't be rewarded for lots of little
    sideways/ backways passes.

Gameweek average would be good and gameweek points next to overall points for everyone.

    Great game though.

    Hi there

    - League placings shown without having the enter leagues
    - clean sheet if you play 60 mins and are then if you are subbed prior to conceding you don't lose the CS points
    - a final validation screen for chairmen accepting people into leagues. Once players are confirmed they shouldn't be able to be removed
    - cash leagues need joined prior to season start

    Thanks

Keeping the game simple imho is the key to continued success. So don't go introducing price changes (à la FPL) and don't allow transfers between games on the same day (à la TFF).

Very much this. Overhaul is already a modified version of the FPL wildcard so please don't look at going any further down the 'FPL model' route. The differences are what make us choose to play the Sky game.

    My personal thoughts -

    - Site interface vastly improved
    - Captain scheduling is great, helps those that don't have as much time
    - love the change to defenders minus points
    - like overhauls

    - Overall league position should display on leagues page so you don't have to click into each one
    - App needs an extra "are you sure want to make swaps* button or at least a move, lag sometimes causes you to make swaps by accident
    - Review of passing bns after Pep Guardiola showed up
    - MoTM should be picked based on clear set of guidelines rather than the random reporter imo (possibly highest rated player on Whoscored or something)
    - Sky cash league entry should be cut at season start
    - Would move first overhaul to the second int break - 3 weeks seems just too short a time (encourages very samey teams)
    - stats and sortability needs more options - see FPL
    - History tab of past seasons would be great

I think Multi captaincy and limited transfers for season are the best features - think these are a must.

All of the above +1, except overhauls.

MotM awards are too subjective (Hazard over Willian last night - even Haz handed him the award on tv!) and are often changed after the initial match report has been published (see Burnley last night also).

I like the way you haven't tried to make the game too similar to FPL (apart from the addition of Wildcard, erm I mean Overhaul)

Please don't introduce price changes - that would be a nightmare for a game where advance planning and changes within gameweeks are vital.

    Negatives:
As mentioned already the gameweek points breakdown is needed: I don't understand how Hazard scored double Richarlison (except I see he got MOTM).

Probably too much betting stuff for my taste.

    Positives:

The new captain pre-set feature has meant that I have been able to keep competitive.
I've lost interest previously because if I missed a few captain changes for some game days I felt I was not competing as I could.

I like the differences with FPL as it feels like a different game. Like the way this is one large gameweek which is doable because you can make in-week transfers and set captains for each day. Also fixed transfers and no bench is a challenge.
I think the wildcards for set gameweeks is going to do a lot to stop people giving up.

The interface overall is grand and intuitive .

        I Did !

An indicator that the player was a captain would be nice.
Anyway my point is I'm a bit lost with how they're scoring and am very lazy.

While I disagree about the new captaincy system, I was confused at the start of the season because the term 'pending captain' is misleading, they're all the same.

It'd probably be too complicated but something more accurate would be: if your first captain didn't achieve x points it'd automatically switch to your pending captain for the next day.

Would mean less people would miss making the changes but there was still a challenge.

I like being able to change captains during a gameweek, but I feel this year's system takes away a lot of the challenge of captaincy.

Kane Saturday, Salah Sunday, Hazard Tuesday. Done. No risk/reward. I prefer the idea of making a stick-or-twist decision.

e.g. My Saturday captain scored one goal but my Sunday one has a great fixture, or my Saturday captain only got one assist, do I risk captaining a defender on Sunday?

Still rewards building a good team with options on each day but it's more tactical.

Agreed. The problem with FPL is that you don't actually play it or make any decisions over the weekend.

UFPL (see below) actually got that balance right. You could "play the game" and gamble or just pick a team. Entirely up to you as the manager.

Never played it, but it seemed like there were some interesting ideas there. Not sure about going down the pay-to-play route but as long as it remained complementary to the free game I wouldn't mind too much.

It wouldn't have to be a pay to play game....I think FPL made a mistake doing that.

I've given the Sky Sports Fantasy Football game a go in the past and my interest has petered out. I gave it another go this season; set up a league, invited my mates, but again have quickly lost interest, so I'll try to explain why that may be the case.

My mates are in their 30's and all are 'armchair' football fans. However, they have other things going on in their life and are only willing to invest time in one FF game (FPL). I'm not sure why FPL given the lack of prizes, but the interface is clean, there are real time score updates and unlimited transfers if you're happy to take points penalties.

Actually, I think the moving player prices are a big draw to keeping you involved. Even if you're not doing that well, you can jump on the latest bandwagon and improve your team value to afford 'better' players later in the season. I know a couple of mates than consistently play the game this way and perhaps the game would be less interesting with fixed prices (less urge to buy/sell players). I know that for ardent Sky Fantasy Football players, the static prices is a big plus so it's difficult to appeal to both crowds.

Even those mates with Sky Bet accounts still prefer to play FPL. Perhaps if there were more performance stats published and more transparency with how the players are scoring points, it would help. I also find the interface a little clunky but can't put my finger on why - transferring in a player I get to sort by price or season points, but it would be nice if I could see other performance stats like form, minutes played etc. Presenting the next 3 opponents for said player somehow would be great too.

Having said that, I've just seen the 'Season Stats' option so the information is there. Although, I'm not really sure what the "Pass 1 Pass 2 Tack 1 Tack 2 Shot 1 Shot 2" are without further digging. Perhaps the simplicity of the scoring system in FPL is the appeal.

Sorry, I haven't really put my finger on why we play FPL more than the Sky Sports game. Perhaps we're just set in our ways now!

Without going into detail by detail...

Without a doubt the best fantasy football game was the now defunct Ultimate fantasy premier league game run by FPL as a paid for game. That's not just my view by the view of most people that tried it and stuck with it for a while (it did take a little getting used to).

SKY could do a lot worse than study that game and cherry pick it for ideas.

Totally agree. Really well thought through game. Got to 4th in the world (well out of 20k playing it!) for a while.

I never got round to entering that game. Was it around for 2 seasons? Remind me of the format?

I think it was 2 seasons. Squad of around 24 players I think with 7 subs allowed and you rotate them around during the Gameweek. Huge strategy on spreading your money across the positions and how you set up your 11 plus the 7 subs. Really enjoyed it.

Aye...fill up with the likes of Zaha, Gross, Shaqiri and Vardy or go premium with cheapies.

            I went the former...did well...

In terms of interface and access to all those stats - such as who is the best tackler, best passer etc was excellent in UFPL.

Any fantasy game can benefit from looking at UFPL's easy to find stats approach.

And those stats really mattered with extra pts for stuff like CBI,s, chances created etc....and losing pts for big chances missed and such like.

Firstly, I’d like to acknowledge that we’re talking about the Sky game and I do enjoy playing it. Changes this year are all for the better IMO..although I have to say that the interface still needs work - making transfers and finding stats and in-game information could definitely be easier. I also find that the app crashes quite often before a match day deadline, thus leaving me with a half organised team.

Right, now what I really wanted to say was that I too hold the opinion that UFPL was THE BEST FANTASY FOOTBALL GAME TO DATE!!

Again, without full disclosure, it just had the perfect blend of hardcore strategy/casualness; micro-management/auto-assist; long term planning/ short term frivolity, etc.
All the stats and info a FF geek could ask for presented with a tried and tested interface. Easy on the eye and easy to navigate.

Yes it was pay-to-play(£5 per team), but that was part of the draw and what kept you motivated - it was (modified)FPL with a chance of a decent prize.

As Polka says, Sky could do wonders to their game with some choice UFPL-inspired modifications.

Here here wakey! UFPL Truly lived up to its name and was indeed the ultimate - if anyone at FPL towers is reading please please please bring it back! £5 was a bargain for being able to manage a full squad, bring in players on loan, have a different captain every day - wonderful game that is much missed

    Hi Luke,

Firstly, congrats on improvements made this year to the game and site functionality. Agree with a lot that's been said on here. After initial scepticism, I now don't object to the overhauls.

    Personally, I'd like to see:

    - 541 & 523 formations.
    - Rebalancing on 'cheap strikers' and expensive mids (e.g., Rashford shouldn't be more expensive than Eriksen & Silva)
    - Access to past history and stats
    - Easily see league rankings
    - More articles and analysis from FFH 😉

Otherwise, great job and don't change too much.

A bit specific, but some consistency on assists would be nice. Realise the stats are pulled from opta but I don't see how a pass that takes the slightest deflection can be ruled out as an assist (Vardy in a Monday night game springs to mind), yet a shot that does the same is given as goal. Many other sites use opta too and the assist on that ocassion for Vardy was given on them, which makes it even harder to fathom in the Sky game.

I was going to say the same thing. Vardy was awarded the assist on official FPL and PL sources but not awarded in Sky. The same for Zaha last night, it's frustrating when you hold a player for a certain fixture, captain then but for some reason they are deigned the attacking points. Vardy was even awarded it on the official Sky twitter!

Other than that minor gripe I'm enjoying playing it for the first time. I like the multiple captain feature and being able to change players mid game week but not for each game.

I think it's an excellent game. My main issue is not with the game but our inability as a community to discuss it. Even on the Sky articles, it's always instantly ignored in favour of FPL transfers.

On the mechanics, I find it a shame that the Opta stats on assists are followed, seemingly slavishly. The Vardy cross the other week was deflected and he got the assists on FPL but not on Sky.

The thing that makes me bring that up is that the game was actually on Sky. I was watching and I'm sure so were the staff. Indeed, the Twitter feed of the game said Vardy assist. So when an assist isn't given, there should be a way to change that. Watching games on Sky is part of the game.

Bit like in cricket the DRS could start with the auto stats in most cases, just amended for howlers.

I agree that the community discussions aren't great on here for Sky, but there are other outlets for it which are really helpful. Fantasy Football Hub (see Will above) is particularly excellent for it and have twitter and facebook communites dedicated to it.

I agree. Wish there was a Sky section with maybe an article a day. Wonder if FFHub could get involved?

    1. Personally, I prefer just having one captain for that gameweek and one vice captain rather than having captains for each day there's a match that week.

    2. In the Season Stats, it would be quicker if you could sort each column high to low when you click on the category name.

    3. Remove the Change Visibility option and make all teams public. Probably wouldn't be a popular move though seeing how many private teams there are.
