Scout Notes – Relentless Kane Rolls On

Harry Kane emphatically breaks more records and the hearts of those Fantasy managers who risked turning their back on his talents ahead of an impending blank.

The Spurs striker made it back-to-back hat-tricks from a blisteringly productive festive schedule so far. In doing so, he shattered Alan Shearer’s Premier League record for goals in a calendar year.

Those Fantasy managers who showed patience and held on to Kane will be overjoyed, but now have another difficult decision ahead of them.

They will face a dilemma with a second consecutive 17-point to sweeten the pill, but two hat-tricks in the space of three days cannot shift the fact that Kane now has a blank to come.

More than 131,000 managers had brought him in for the 5-2 win over Southampton regardless of that blank, with 1,161,712 making him the most-captained player of Gameweek 20.

They are now part of a 41.2% Fantasy Premier League (FPL) ownership that must decide whether to stick or twist on the forward.

Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata is an obvious replacement for Gameweek 21, and he made his case with a first goal since Gameweek 15. To add to the Spaniard’s appeal, the Blues entertain Stoke City next and the Potters, already without Kurt Zouma, saw their skipper Ryan Shawcross limp off today.

But the downside of selling Kane involves cost – in both price and transfers expended.

His value is on the move. It rose to 12.9 ahead of Boxing Day and could increase again before Gameweek 21 with a number of managers either oblivious to, or simply not caring about, his blank.

Some 33,000 have already transferred him in for his non-existent Gameweek 21, so should his price rise again, those selling him could lose profit as well as the two transfers the transaction will cost – assuming, that is, that they bring Kane back for fixtures with Swansea City and West Ham. That is surely a given.

Ignoring Kane for that upcoming pair of attractive fixtures seems untenable. He will be the most-captained for Gameweek 22 and, those with the Triple Captain chip in hand will surely consider putting it in play on the back of Kane’s confidence and devastating form.

Spurs Midfield stake their claim

Kane isn’t the only member of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad who warrants consideration ahead of the double-header.

Son Heung-min is building a convincing case.

The midfielder started his sixth straight match against Southampton and produced a goal, two assists and a bonus point for a second double-digit haul of that run.

In fact, Son has managed four goals and as many assists from those six matches and although he’s currently the fourth most bought player despite the blank Gameweek 21, he’s still only owned by 3.9%.

Previously far more popular, Dele Alli (11.5%) is also enjoying a min-revival.

He followed up his brace of assists at Burnley with two more, and a goal, against the Saints, with two bonus points pushing his Gameweek tally to a season’s best 15.

Son’s 8.0 price and his considerably more consistent recent form will ensure that the South Korean is favoured, with Alli reduced to an unlikely Gameweek 22 differential.

The same will probably apply to Christian Erisken. The Dane’s assist was dwarfed by other performances, but marked a fifth return in six Gameweeks.

Elsewhere, it remains difficult to justify investment in the Spurs defence.

Pochettino’s rotation policy concerning his wing-backs is now confusing everyone but him, with Serge Aurier (0.5%) handed a second straight start – and his third in four matches – as Kieran Trippier (5.8%) joined Ben Davies on the bench.

With the points potential of Spurs’ wing-backs now difficult to predict, the side’s lack of defensive stability – they’ve kept just two clean sheets since Gameweek 12 – further dampens the appeal of recruitment for the forthcoming double.

Jesus or Aguero or both or neither to start tonight?

As a Jesus owner I want Jesus to start, but I am not hopeful.

Which of these looks better for the DGW:

    A) Hazard, Richarlison and Austin > Son, Lingard and Firmino (-4) --- would get Arnautovic the week after
    B) Hazard and Richarlison > Son and Arnautovic --- keep Austin for his return the following GW and get Coutinho then too

    Foster Elliot
    Jones Christensen Mee Ogbonna Zeegelaar
    Hazard Salah Sterling Sane Richarlison
    Kane Austin DCL

    A) Firmino in a 442 + a cheap 5th mid
    B) Coutinho in a 451 + a cheap 2nd striker (Quaner 3rd striker)

      B.

Think Coutinho will outscore Firmino in the longer term.

I agree but the other position is a big issue. Firmino allows a decent nailed midfielder. Coutinho doesn’t allow a decent nailed forward (maybe DLC for the time being but think Everton will upgrade him in Jan).

Firmino is a very streaky player imo. He’s keeping it up right now but he could go on a run of blanks very soon.

Also I think there are more options in the 9m mid bracket than forwards if it goes wrong.

2 of the next 3 are anyways tough against Burnley away & City home. Maybe just hold of getting any of them.

Hi everybody, just some thoughts ahead of BGW21 and DGW22. This is my team :

    Adrian (DGW) | Speroni

Otamendi | Christensen | Jones | Ogbonna (DGW) | Mariappa

    Hazard | Coutinho | Sterling | Richarlison | Loftus-Cheek

Kane (DGW) | Morata | Depoitre

    1 FT | £0.6 itb

    BGW21 :

I will have 12 eligible players for GW21.Which means Loftus-Cheek (MCI) will be my only player in the bench while playing 4-4-2. Mariappa is a doubt though, since he's been dropped after his disastrous game against Huddersfield. He will most likely not be involved in the reception of Leicester in BGW21. Which means I could end with only 11 available players, with rotation likely to happen to 1 (Coutinho ?) or more of my players this is a dangerous game.

What should I do, sell Mariappa right now to get 1 more starter or go through BGW21 with my fingers crossed ? If I ditch Mariappa for BGW21 it will be to bring Schindler (4.6) or Dunk (4.5).

    DGW22 :

If I decide to go through BGW21 without doing any transfer I'll have 2 FTs ahead of DGW22. Which means I could take a hit to bring 3 players and get 6/6 DGWers from both Spurs and West Ham. If so I'd be doing the following moves :
    Coutinho + Christensen + Mariappa > Son + Sanchez + Masuaku.

If I use a transfer to take out Mariappa for BGW21 I'll only do two moves on DGW22 for a hit : Coutinho + Christensen > Son + Sanchez, going with 5/6 DGWers.

What do you think it's best : A) take a risk on BGW21 to get 6 DGWers on DGW22 (tripling up on West Ham defense) or B) try to get a full team on BGW21 and don't go full DGWers on DGW22 ?

A although not sure about tripling up on whu defence.

All very nicely planned and thoughtout but for me the question is... do you want 6 Spurs and west game players after? That's nearly half your squad so less spots for city pool etc. basically for me no need for 6. 4 seems more sensible

Is Adrian worth getting for (-4) the DGW & beyond?

West Ham not keeping many clean sheets and I think I’d rather just upgrade Pope to Pickford when Heaton is back. Elliot can cover his bad fixtures till then.

I have Adrian and was going to bring in Masuaku a couple of weeks ago but two consecutive weeks of conceding 3 vs weak opposition has given me pause for thought. I’d definitely prefer Pickford now despite the DGW. Which I’ll captain and maybe even TC Kane for anyway.

I think of the West Ham situation much like Newcastle's and Liverpool's. 2 bang average goalkeepers that are mistake prone in each, that can lose confidence at a slight blow of the wind and end up getting rotated

Would you do Christensen & DCL > Alonso & Quaner for a 4 pt hit? OR DDG > Adrian & Christensen > Alonso? Team below... really want to get Alonso now:

          DDG, Elliott
          Christensen, Mee, Zanka, Dunk, Kenny
          Haz, Salah, Sterling, Richarlison, Zaha
          Kane, Firmino, DCL
          (1FT, 1.1 ITB)

Is hazard worth keeping or planning to get rid on 22?

Think I’ll get rid for 22 and get him back in 23.

Don't have him but good fixture and just watched highlights - could have scored more than 1.

              Salah Sterling Richarlison

I do find it annoying the media, commentators etc. shorten it to Mo. I can see where they are coming from.

Simple answer to DGW - Use the free hit chip. Then your team will revert back to its original composition pre-DGW madness!

I'm gonna save my free hit for a week where multiple teams have DGWs
