Injuries

The Treatment Table – Gameweek 32

We take our usual Sunday evening look at the weekend’s new injuries now, with Chelsea’s concerns up front increasing after Loic Remy picked up a muscle problem in training yesterday.

Aston Villa
The injury worries continued in defence for Tim Sherwood after Ciaran Clark was forced off early on in the 1-0 win over Spurs. Sherwood is also sweating over the fitness of Gabby Agbonlahor up front, after the forward was also replaced at White Hart Lane. After the match, the Villa manager admitted the pair are likely to miss next weekend’s semi-final with Liverpool:

“Ciaran has come off with a knee ligament injury. He’s not had it before. It’s the first time this season we’ve had to name an unchanged team so it’s something we’re getting used to. Gabby’s tweaked his hamstring. It looks like (they will miss Sunday). It’s a real shame as it’s a massive day out.”

Chelsea
Loic Remy missed today’s trip to QPR after sustaining a muscle injury in training yesterday, Jose Mourinho has confirmed:

“Remy got a kick in training and the muscle is sore. We never cry or complain, we just trust the people on the pitch”

After the 1-0 win, the Blues boss was optimistic that the Frenchman will be back in time for next week’s home clash with United:

“Remy has a small injury. I think he should be available for the next game.”

Crystal Palace
Left-back Pape Souare was forced off early in the 4-1 win over Sunderland due to injury.

Everton
Leon Osman is set to be assessed after sustaining a groin injury during the Toffees’ 1-1 draw at Swansea yesterday lunchtime.

Manchester City
Reports suggest Vincent Kompany was withdrawn at half-time due to a thigh complaint in City’s loss at Old Trafford.

Manchester United
Michael Carrick was forced off towards the end of this afternoon’s derby win over City, with his withdrawal leaving the hosts with just ten men. Post-match, Louis van Gaal revealed:

“At the end, Michael Carrick needed to be changed but I could not substitute him. He was very wise to step out of the game with my permission. I hope he is not injured.”

QPR
Armand Traore was initially named amongst the subs today but withdrew from the squad after sustaining a knock during the pre-match warm-up.

Stoke
Victor Moses and Marc Wilson were both replaced during the Potters’ weekend draw at West Ham, with Mark Hughes confirming post-match:

“It looks like Victor has pulled his hamstring. It looks like it is in a strange position as it seems to be right behind his knee, which isn’t the normal position you usually get hamstring injuries. We will get it checked, it may be something that isn’t to do with the hamstring so it could be that we get good news. If it is a hamstring, then it could be that we lose him for a few weeks…Marc got a bang right on his hip, fair play to him he tried to go out for the second half and see if he could make it work. Sadly he couldn’t loosen it off and had to be forced off unfortunately.”

Swansea
Bafetimbi Gomis lasted just 17 minutes of Saturday’s early kick-off against Everton before limping off with a hamstring problem, Garry Monk has confirmed:

“Bafe felt a tightening of his hamstring. He will have a scan. Hopefully it’s not too serious because we don’t want to lose his quality, and we’re already quite thin on the ground.”

Fellow forward Nelson Oliveira missed out with a twisted ankle sustained in training.

West Ham
Sam Allardyce’s options up front could be somewhat limited heading into the weekend trip to City after both Diafra Sakho and Enner Valencia picked up injuries in the weekend draw with Stoke. Post-match, the Hammers boss confirmed:

“Enner was never going to be able to play the full 90 minutes, but he got a kick as well and we’re hoping it won’t be enough to keep him out for next week, because Diafra will definitely be missing. If it’s a thigh strain, depending on what grade it is, it could two weeks or it could be him missing the rest of this season, but we will wait and see. That leaves us very short on the front line with Andy being out, and means goals will be fewer and farther between than they used to be, so if we don’t get that defensive side right then the last six games are going to be tough for us.”

It's a good question. One thing I suggest is asking who you'll bench in gw34 since they are typically bench fodder type players and your remaining squad is likely strong

I have a feeling Burnley vs Leic can be high scoring. Also add 2 points from Chelsea game. Not so bad right?

    Austin to Murray or Vardy?

Leicester upcoming fixtures are tasty and seeing them celebrate on tv, I saw fighting spirit in Leicester who has already won 2 games in a roll.

Vardy is cheap and can last me until season’s over, Murray’s fixtures will come to an end after gw34. Hmmmm, opinions?

Rotation is always a risk, but he's played the full 90 for the last 4 on the trot and garnered 2 goals and 2 assists in that time,. For that reason he's unlikely to be dropped in the short term unless his form drops away massively, particularly not after scoring the winning goal this weekend.

Injuries to Moses this week and Naughton last week have left me in need of a 4pt hit in order to field 11 in GW33 (assuming remy plays).

    Panti* Elliot
    Terry - Fonte - Dawson - Bellerin* - Naughton*
    Haz - Eriksen - Silva - Caz* - Moses*
    Kun - Kane - Remy

    1FT - 1.7 itb

Given that I'd have to take the hit to remove Panti, or else play one outfield player short, both of which seem poor options, do you reckon Cazorla/Moses -> Bolasie could be an option, and then just play without a GK?

    1. Geordienufc1
      • 10 Years
      9 years, 2 months ago

Also worth noting that I have a WC to be used for GW34.

    2. tokara
      • 9 Years
      9 years, 2 months ago

If its me, I would do Moses to Bola

No good keeper option for gw33 unless Schemichel?

U may need Cazo for dgw37?

      1. Geordienufc1
        • 10 Years
        9 years, 2 months ago

        Thanks mate.

I have my WC for GW34, which will obviously completely revamp the team. I think I will be using my 3 FTs between GW34 and GW37 to bring in 3 arsenal players anyway, so I don't think there will be a need to keep Caz.

I think more the question is whether Bolasie is the right man for a 1 week punt. Given his form, he looks a bet wouldn't you say?

        1. tokara
          • 9 Years

The general consenus here is -4 is OK for non-starter

Bolasie is definitely a good option, he had openly said he want scores more as what Pardew wants him, and I read he is playing more central now and they are also trying to better their 5 wins in a row last season. They are on 4 wins now.

That would create benching headache going forward and ideally I'd like to remove Mane and Eriksen next couple of weeks. They have been useless

Bringing in Skrtel and Henderson over next two weeks to give me these dgw players:

    Schlupp Terry Skrtel
    Hazard Coutinho Henderson
    Vardy

Should I get in another chelsea player. If yes then Remy or Fab?

    Thanks.

Got a luxury transfer to make.. 2 Ft's and 12 playing players this week. team is
    Myhill (Foster)
    Terry Fonte Toby (Dawson Bellerin)
    Hazard Silva Eriksen Mane (Phillips)
    Aguero Remy Kane
    2 FTs
    5.1 in the bank

    A) Foster to Mignolet(Start getting Pool players in)
    B) Dawson/Bellerin to Schlupp(who to bench though? will mean one less Pool player in the double)
    C) anything else?

i never do a transfer before friday night mate.. and i've got an extra luxury transfer. would defo save if i did no have one. Got to make one and i like my starting 11 so might as well get a Pool player in for my bench

I meant a week early transfer

I see your point but it is risky and I wouldnt . Not fancy to chuck in there lei defender? They have a good fixture to be fair

Interested in Schlupp tbh.. but i would not know who to bench if i got him in(i try to never bench a Chelsea defender). And of all the pool players getting in a goalkeeper is probably the least risk i could take regarding injuries 🙂

Transfer considerations have led me to ask this slightly odd question...

    GW 34:
    A) Start Kane
    B) Start Coutinho (-4) with Kane benched

If u have Kane, you play him.
