The Numbers Game – Double Gameweek Form

With the final double Gameweek of the season almost upon us, we turn our attentions to the Opta statistics to assess the recent form of Arsenal and Sunderland.

Using the team profile data, we take a look at both sides displays from Gameweek 30-36 – a period of time that saw them play six times apiece and one that coincides with Dick Advocaat’s arrival at the Stadium of Light.

    It's Blackburn turn, I think. πŸ™‚

    Steele
    Spurr Hanley Baptiste Olsson
    Conway Lowe Cairney Marshall
    Gestede Rhodes

Pretty sure they can reach PL if they keep attacking duo.

Spurr is a LB. Henley will keep his spot there i assume. Some impressive displays last season. Conway on the left also probably although they do swap around a fair bit in the game. We desperately need a centre halve or two and a midfielder with a bit of champ experience and know how.

Be amazed if we keep hold of Gestede OR Rhodes

I know Spurr is LB, but Olsson is decent and we need both of them.

I don´t know, Newcastle has a weak defence and I see QPR scoring, then Austin is on penaltys and I don´t see Sunderland scoring at Emirates and Leicester is defending well, so I doubt a Sunderland forward can do 6 points (4 from hit and 2 from Austin playing) plus 4 or 5, it can happen but I don´t see it happening.

Is it possible that we are over thinking this notion of Arsenal rotating during the DGW?

Losing to Swansea makes me think he will play his best side for the next 2, try and get second wrapped up and rotate in gw 38 with the cup final in mind?

    Transfer strategy!

Currently 43 points behind league leader which is big gap I know but I think some combinations with dgw could work to at least make it close. But to do this I want to make x2 transfers tomorrow. I reckon doing this will make the leader think tooooo much and make a balls up.

My Q is this does the timing of transfers influence you ?

Meh, I wouldn't really be too keen tbh.

Would cost a phenomenal amount, would want to play Left Wing so would stunt Depay's progress and would cost us a great GK.

He made his choice when he went to Real over United (who went in for him big time) which was completely fair but I wouldn't really be thrilled to see an entire transfer budget go on him...

Nah, Sun 0 - 0 Lei would be awesome!

Granville had me semi-convinced it was points all but in the bag until I realised a draw really doesn't do that much for either of them!

That's mental. An arsenal defender will be a money spinning differential this week I think. I'm annoyed I don't have one.

    Question is Ramsey or Caz

    Pantilimon #

    Schlupp / Terry / PvA #

    Sanchez # © / Ramsey # / Silva / Hazard

    Aguerö / Giroud # / Vardy

Bench: Krul / Rose / Boyd / Dawson

Chasing a 29 pt mini league deficit with 1.1m ITB, 1 FT.

    Do I do:

    (A) Vardy > Defoe
    (B) Boyd > Gomez, bench Vardy
    (C) Hazard > Gerrard (rest risk)
    (D) Leftfield captain choice e.g. Giroud
    (E) hold FT for a double surprise attack next week

    We have really similar teams...

I wouldn't play Boyd over vardy. It's effectively vardy to Defoe or Gomez. The bore in me half thinks it's better to hold on in case something nuts happens and I need the ft next week but I suppose it can potentially do more damage this week.

    B) Play Phillips home to Newcastle and save FT

Link your team and the regulars are more likely to help is my advice.

For the record, neither. Always an improvement to be made going into a DGW. Not sure Gomez is it. Eck, what do I know!

    B) Ivan, Vardy/Kane > cheap defender + Giroud

    Have PVA, Sanchez, Ramsey
