There is so much attention paid every year to defensive rotation and selecting the best combination of cheap goalkeepers and defenders to help navigate through the schedule. But there is another form of rotation that is often neglected but is arguably more important – that of ensuring you have a solid captain option every week.
A classic example of this that’s worked well in years past was moving the armband between Sergio Aguero and Wayne Rooney to take advantage of Manchester City and Manchester United’s home and away rotation, with both having strong home goalscoring records.
But with Aguero possibly being eased in slowly at the start of the season due to his Copa America commitments, I thought it would be good to use the comment section of this article to discuss the merits of other captaincy rotation options.
For example, investing heavily in Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United in the first five Gameweeks could present a strong captaincy option to kick-start the season. Switching between Eden Hazard, Wayne Rooney and a strong Arsenal candidate such as Alexis Sanchez when he returns from his summer break or Theo Walcott, would present us with a run of WHM, avl or cpl, NEW, CPL and STO.
Alternatively, switching to Aguero from Gameweek four and leaving the armband on him until Gameweek 9 would provide you with WAT, cpl, WHM, tot, NEW, & BOU for your captain.
Feel free to leave your thoughts here on the best potential captaincy rotation.

Thanks for this. By the looks of it the best top 4 team fixtures each gameweek are
Gwk 1 ARS/CHE
Gwk 2 MUN/ARS
Gwk 3 MUN
Gwk4 -Gwk 8 MCI
For me I'm looking to get a good ManU option for GAmeweek 1-4, a good Arsenal as a back up captain, a good Chelsea for choice in Gwk 1 and then Gameweek 4 -8 (which is as far s I've looked) go for Aguero (c).
So for me the rotation for the first 8 would be
Hazard/Rooney/Rooney/Aguero/Aguero/Aguero/Aguero/Aguero
Gwk 1 ARS/CHE
Gwk 2 MUN/ARS
Gwk 3 MUN
Gwk4 -Gwk 8 MCI
Starting to think twice about Costa and Hazard now for Gameweek 1.
