FantasyBet Focus – Gameweek 25

The top two teams in the Premier League get Gameweek 25 underway this weekend as Manchester City welcome league leaders Leicester to the Etihad. Tottenham look to boost their top-four credentials with a fourth straight win as Watford roll up to White Hart Lane, whilst Southampton seek a fifth successive shut-out as West Ham pay visit to St Mary’s.

Sunday’s pair of fixtures involves a couple of the current top five. Arsenal make their way to Bournemouth, with Arsene Wenger’s side looking to end a run of three goalless league matches, before champions Chelsea welcome Manchester United to Stamford Bridge in a late 4pm kick-off.

If you are unfamiliar with FantasyBet, it is particularly accessible for those who play Fantasy Premier League, as it uses a similar scoring system. The players’ prices were originally identical to those of the official game but have now been updated, with players such as Riyad Mahrez and Mesut Ozil now costing 1m more to include in our squads.

This week, FantasyBet are offering a Triple Up Promo – essentially, they will give new sign-ups twice their deposit as a bonus.

Check out this video to see how team creation works.

MY TEAM

Fraser Forster (4.5m)
Alberto Moreno (5m)
Virgil Van Dijk (5.5m)
Toby Alderweireld (5.5m)
Georginio Wijnaldum (6.5m)
Sadio Mane (7.5m)
Roberto Firmino (8m)
Alexis Sanchez (11m)
Jamie Vardy (7.5m)
Harry Kane (9.5m)
Sergio Aguero (13m)

KEY PICKS

Fraser Forster: The Southampton number one’s return from injury has been instrumental to a run of form that has chalked up four straight clean sheets. Forster defied Arsenal with 10 saves at the Etihad on Tuesday and will need to be at his best to nullify West Ham’s in-form attack at St Mary’s tomorrow evening.

Toby Alderweireld: Tottenham’s centre-half offers a strong chance of points at both ends of the pitch this weekend. Alderweireld – who has already produced two goals and three assists – welcomes a Watford side that have failed to score in each of their last two road trips.

Roberto Firmino: The Brazilian looks the man most likely to do the damage as Liverpool host struggling Sunderland at Anfield. Firmino has bagged a brace in two of the last four Gameweeks and will fancy his chances against a Black Cats’ side that boasts the worst away defensive record in the top-flight.

Harry Kane: Four goals and an assist in his last three appearances suggests Kane will be a viable captaincy alternative to Sergio Aguero this week. At home to a Watford defence with a single shut-out in seven, he’ll be confident of adding to his 15 goal-haul so far.

THIS WEEK’S GAME PICKS

As always, the best place to start if you’re new to FantasyBet are the free-rolls – there is a £50 pot available for this Gameweek in both the standard and flash formats.

There’s a Double-Up game for £3.30 entry with a guaranteed prize pool of £120, and also FantasyBet’s biggest weekly game, the Grand Saturday, where your compete for a £1000 guaranteed prize pool on a £5.50 buy in. Multiple entries are available in both.

LAST WEEK

I won £9 in the big midweek pot despite a 59th-placed finish from 70 points – Harry Kane (13 points), Christian Eriksen (11 points) and Aaron Creswell (nine points) were the main contributors. God got first place, captaining Kane and selecting Ross Barkley were the key decisions in a 90-point team. Some other small wins leave me on just under £170.

THIS WEEK’S STAKE

I’m entering the Saturday Double-up, the Grand contest, the free-rolls, the FFScout Picks League and will also have a go at a qualifier to try and win entry into the double grand pot coming up in GW28. This sets me back a total outlay of £10.45.

In addition, I’ll be going up against Beavis, the Community champion in this week’s Scout Picks. He will be taking me on in a specially set up head to head game for a chance to win free entry into a £500 Guaranteed ‘Big Weekly’ game worth £22. Also the eligible Community Champion who beats the Scout Picks by the highest margin every month will win a free entry into the £600 guaranteed ‘Boss’ game worth £55.

FFSCOUT PICKS LEAGUE

Lateriser12 topped the Scout Picks League with a score of 93 points that included six players that scored nine points or more – Jamie Vardy, Harry Kane and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson were his top performers. Once again, FantasyBet have provided a £100 pot for the FFScout Picks League – with a £1.10 stake for entry, it is now possible to enter two teams into this contest. I will enter our Scout Picks as closely as possible, given a 15-man squad is required with the 100m budget and a captain also needs to be selected.

Feel free to go up against them this week and pick your own squad on FantasyBet.

Almost hoping that Alli will miss this GW so that any benching mistake I'll make will be irrevelant. I have benched so many hauls this season, and whether I end up benching Mahrez, Payet or Ighalo, it'll turn out a disaster, I'm sure.

Throw Arnie + Barkley into that mix and it's a toss-up every GW if you'll end up with double digit benched points.

A totally fantasy-unrelated question but what better forum to ask than here? I'm planning a trip to London in April and wanted to go to WHU-CPL on 4/2 and TOT-MUN on 4/9. How does one get tickets for these fixtures? In the past I had to become a club member (still have the Fulham kit from a few seasons back for the WHU match at Craven), but with 40 quid per, that's a bit hefty for just two matches...

The alternative is to go to LEI for the SOU match...

Although depends on what's way over the odds. It might be worth a splurge (in fact, that's the one membership I'd be willing to shell out for, assuming I could get two seats at reasonable prices ahead of time).

I would never bench Ighalo for Dawson . I think he plays over Cresswell .

Won't be popular but all of a sudden after this GW, the Spurs defence doesn't look too appealing, Swansea aside.

    GW26 mci
    GW27 SWA
    GW28 whu
    GW29 ARS
GW30 avl (But very likely to be a blank, if they beat Palace in the cup at home)

Then United and Liverpool in two of the next three after that.

Not saying ditch, but I can't see many clean sheets ahead...

Toby good for the odd goal or assist.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but before GW28 we'll know if they have a blank in GW30, right? Seems a good time to ditch Alder if they do.

Will be nice to be able to rely on him for that GW27 when my bench will be filled up with players with blanks.

Which of these 3 to bench this week?

    A) Mahrez (mcy) - tough fixture on paper but City have a lot of injuries and without Kompany they are more than capable of conceding. Mahrez still a big goal threat despite his recent downturn in points.

    B) Payet (sot) - Saints have really tightened up with 4CS on the bounce (incl games against ARS and MUN). Not sure there are many goals in this one and Antonio/Valencia look a bigger threat than Payet. That being said all he needs is an assist for bonus.

    C) Alli (WAT) - best fixture of the 3 and bang on form. A slight doubt due to illness and hasn't really turned it on at WHL this far. Watford not keeping many clean sheets of late either

In no order-- Spurs, LEI, Manchester United. Though I feel the Saints are worth a shout.
