Scout Notes

Scout Notes – Gameweek 32 – Sunday

Wes Morgan grabs the only goal of the match as Leicester take a step nearer to the title with a fourth successive 1-0 win. Elsewhere, Anthony Martial leaps onto our double Gameweek radars by firing United to victory over Everton at Old Trafford.

Morgan wins it for Foxes

Leicester City stretched out their lead at the top to seven points by way of their fourth consecutive 1-0 win.

Wes Morgan did the damage for the hosts with his first goal of the campaign, latching onto Christian Fuchs’ cross. The latter now boasts four assists and has amassed the second-most bonus points (21) of any defender on the Fantasy market.

Although the Foxes lack a double Gameweek, they have now recorded shut-outs in seven of their previous eight home ties and remain at the King Power Stadium for two of the next three Gameweeks, encouraging investors in their defence to hold tight.

In the wake of his blank against Saints, Jamie Vardy has now failed to net in six successive starts, which will prompt a portion of his 54% ownership reinvest their funds in Romelu Lukaku before Everton’s back-to-back double Gameweeks.

As for Riyad Mahrez, his explosive potential (11 double-figure hauls) should deter many owners from maxing out on double Gameweek players.

Saints struggle on the road again

Southampton were stifled by the Foxes’ regimented defence and were only able to muster two shots on target throughout the encounter.

Ronald Koeman’s side have failed to score in three of their last five away matches and now hit the road in three of the next five Gameweeks, which includes trips to Everton and Spurs, in addition to a home encounter with Man City. Their lack of a double Gameweek and poor defensive record of late (nine goals conceded and zero clean sheets in six) render their squad a relative non-factor during the final stages of the season.

Martials notches United’s winner

Manchester United remain in the hunt for a Champions League berth as they carved out a third 1-0 victory in four outings.

Anthony Martial proved to be the difference between the two sides, bagging his third goal (Timothy Fosu-Mensah assist) in seven starts. Given that Wayne Rooney’s imminent return makes Marcus Rashford a rotation risk, the 7.6-priced Martial represents the choice route into the Red Devils’ attack for their mouth-watering double Gameweek (AVL & CRY).

Man United’s tenth home clean sheet of the campaign underlined the merits of targeting their defence during the double. On that note, both Daley Blind (fatigue) and Marco Rojo (jet-lag) were subbed off at Old Trafford, highlighting the fact that Chris Smalling and David De Gea are the safest options for Gameweek 33 wildcarders.

Out-of-sorts Toffees fail to impress

Everton suffered their third straight defeat and have now tasted victory just once since Gameweek 26.

Romelu Lukaku had an afternoon to forget against Louis van Gaal’s charges, mustering a solitary off-target attempt. Nonetheless, the Belgian marksman is sure to be one of the most popular pick-ups ahead of the Toffees’ aforementioned successive doubles in Gameweek 33 (wat &cry) and Gameweek 34 (SOU & liv) – indeed, he already ranks top for “transfers in” (62,000) at the time of writing.

For those eyeing up the Toffees midfielders, Aaron Lennon (5.6) was intriguingly handed a central support role behind Lukaku as Gerard Deulofeu started on the right wing. Lennon then switched back to the flank after the young Spaniard was withdrawn just after the hour mark.

Roberto Martinez switched things up at the back, benching Ramiro Funes Mori to facilitate John Stones’ reinstatement in a four-man defence. In terms of tapping into Everton’s backline potential, goalkeeper Joel Robles (4.3) is the standout pick by virtue of his budget price tag, while skipper Phil Jagielka (5.1) – who fired two attempts from inside the box yesterday – seems the safest route into the defence.

    Hi all

Any thoughts on this WC team? 0 itb!

    Hennessey Mignolet
    Souare Gabriel Bellerin Smalling Simpson
    Mahrez Lennon Milner Payet Sanchez
    Kun Kane Lukaku

Obviously have had to compromise a bit, but I can't quite bring myself to move out Kane or Mahrez. 2 Palace players isn't ideal but I only have 8.4 to play with once I'd put everyone else in place; Bellerin, Smalling, Payet, Sanchez and the front 3 are my fundamentals.

    Any suggestions for improvement?

    Thanks!

      Mignolet > DDG
      Smalling > Moreno/Sakho
      Hennessey > Robles

      Don't like Milner.

        Cheers Gooner -

        Don't like DDG/Robles because neither has a GW35 - Migs is a must

Smalling a must because I don't have DDG

I don't like Milner really either - what dyu reckon to what I said above:
        Lanzini + Coutinho IN
        Milner + Mahrez OUT

          Hey Sjaugen!

Thanks man - yeah I was thinking
          Lanzini + Coutinho IN
          Milner + Mahrez OUT

I don't want to go with the cheapo GKs. I have thought about it, but it's not a goer in my book. If I was going to do anything I'd have to remove Mahrez, which I'm really reticent to do but might have to for the team!

Will think more - if I do Mahrez out I'll never be able to get him back lol

Great transfers. But a ton of the comments this week on RMTs is going to herd people towards a template.
IMO Lanzini and Cout should be/ are part of the template

My main worry is winning my ML lol, so I'm not really too bothered about smashing a template.

Really considering Lanzini and Cout now, though - really worried about lack of Mahrez but hopefully those two will more than make up for Mahrez....

Good team - big worry for me would be Darmian starting / playing the full 90 mins. I'm on Smalling just because he is absolutely nailed. Can see LvG playing youngsters.

I'm also thinking of binning Mahrez (Simpson is just SO cheap you might as well hold). In your case, you could get Lanzini in and then use the extra $$$ to upgrade Mitro to Martial?

Yeah I like it, maximises what you have available but Moreno and Lingard might both be a bit worrisome. However, I can't see how else you'd finance your stuff with that frontline (same as mine). So yeah, limited scope for tinkering.

My WC33 TC Sanchez GW33 BB37 plan taking form:

    GW33/34 team:

    Robles
    Coleman Sakho Gabriel
    Sanchez(ccc) Özil Payet Couthino
    Aguero Lukaku Martial

    Bench: Mannone Kirchhoff Klose

    GW35:
    Martial + Coleman -> Kane + Azpi

    GW36 & 37: Özil + Aguero + Gabriel -> DGW'ers -4 pts

This cunning plan surely can't go wrong 🙂 !

How many players do you have or not have "just because".

I've discounted Ozil as an option for example without checking any stats - just don't fancy him. Likewise with Bolasie, he's nailed in my team because I like him. No idea if he's playing well - not watched Palace and haven't checked stats.

He said that on current form he should only be competing with Wilshire (just back from in jury) but he cant say that with any degree of certainty because Wenger rotates that position without an obvious reason. A little thought about Firmino. He took almost half a season to build up his match fitness and get up to speed physically this season. Once he'd reached a better level of match fitness, the difference in his game was huge.

I wonder what effect 3 weeks off will have an his performances, if he's the kind of player who needs games to get fully sharp, and needs to be 100% sharp to be effective?

No need to double up Arsenal mid at the cost of no Kun!

So KDB + Studge or Kun + Mahrez.

      The latter

Is there a case to be made that Iwobi and Danny stunt Ozils output and that Ozil works better with Giroud??

Will Iwobi start with Ramsey back?

Ramsey in double pivot, Iwobi in front 3 behind striker I would have thought

Ramsey in the double pivot to replace Elleny or whatever his name is?

Yes, I think so. Its very weird, because Welbz makes runs that Giroud doesn't so you'd think it'd be the opposite

Ramsey shouldnt get anywhere near this team at the moment, El Neny and Coq have been awesome

I would say he's more likely to play than Mertersacker right now, Arsenal seem pretty solid last few games he's played, no reason to drop him

Exactly, more likely and nailed are two different things.

You're very correct in calling him not nailed, but it's fair to do as Hamez is, saying that Ars play well with him

    Ok draft III WC

    Robles Migs
    Bellerin Smalling Simpson Delany Janmaat
    Sanchez Bolasie Coutinho Payet Mahrez
    Kun Studge Lukaku

    In 34 I'll swap Bolasie > Lennon
    In 35 I'll swap Studge > Kane(c)

Just thinking out aloud but we are all very fixated on getting min 11 DGW players for GW33 with the Bench Boost in mind for GW34 but realistically bench boost is pretty poor even if you have 15 DGW players - The bench boost will effectively be 1 GK, 2x DF and 1 MID. How much are people expecting to get out of it?

GK will prob be Darlow or Robles and he'll get Prob 4 points (both games)
DF - will be 2nd rate defenders prob get 4 points each (both games)
MID - Will be Bolasie esque player again will prob get 4 points (both games)

So you will be gaining an extra 16 points but the downfall is gutting out your team to fit in these below average FF players.

    Is it really worth it?

Id advise not doing it then, Im going all in.
Yesterday my defence got me 34 points.

Ok fair play Horsey - well played with defence! I'm just worried about GW35 onwards when you are left with newcastles, W.Brom etc

As someone said earlier, even if they just turn up and play, that's still 16 points - and then they two games to add to that, I'd say you should be looking at 25 points from your bench in GW34, or 37.

problem is, quite a few of them will not turn up and play in GW35!

I think people on here are already looking past 34 anyway, and some are keeping hold of Mahrez/Fuchs etc rather than gut their entire team.

Plus, there's always the chance that your Bolasie esque player scores a goal or Darlow keeps a clean sheet - then it's suddenly a whole different picture

    2) Which West Ham defenders are nailed except for Cresswell?
    3) Any City-defenders that might be worth considering except for Otamendi?

Anyone else looking at either Sako or Bolasie? I never watch Palace, but thought Sako was a bit more atticking. That Norwich fixture looks tasty.

    B) Sakho + Lennon (or Lanzini)

    Darlow - Robles
    Janmaat - Bellerin - Sakho - *** - ***
    Sanchez - Coutinho - Payet - Lanzini - ***
    Aguero - Lukaku - ***

    A) Koscielny - Coleman / Firmino / Mitrovic (£1.1m ITB)
    B) Monreal – Mangala / Firmino / Martial (£0.1m ITB)
    C) Gabriel - Clyne / KDB / Martial (£0.2m ITB)

    A) gives me 7 DGW forwards in GW37 and more security from rotation
    B) gives me 7 DGW forwards but rotation risks of Mangala + Monreal
    C) gives me KDB, 6 DGW forwards but rotation risk of Gabriel

Any preferences gents? Currently thinking that C will reward me most

    How am I looking?

    DDG - Robles
    Bellerin - Gabriel - Reid - Sakho - Simpson
    KDB - Payet - Sanchez - Lennon - Mahrez
    Martial - Aguero - Lukaku

Will use 2FT to get 11 on the pitch for GW35

Only real worry is not owning a LIV midfielder
