Dugout Discussion – Spurs vs West Brom

Gameweek 35’s swansong finds Tottenham Hotspur and West Bromwich Albion meet under lights at White Hart Lane. The former breezed past Manchester United and Stoke City in their past two matches, while the Baggies have lost four of their previous five fixtures.

Spurs’ rampaging attack ranks second for goals (11), total attempts (74), big chances (12) and shots on target (26) over their respective last four match-ups, highlighting their abundance of threat in the final third. Considering that Mauricio Pochettino’s side have chalked up a whopping 24 more shots on target than any team at home (136), the Baggies will do well to stop them scoring. On the other hand, Spurs will fancy their chances of earning a clean sheet having conceded just 13 big chances at the Lane all season.

Delving into the Baggies’ productivity away from The Hawthorns, they place second-bottom for goals (12) and sit last for attempts (140), shots inside the box (78) and shots on target (37). That being said, only three teams have recorded more clean sheets in road ties than West Brom (six), which suggests that Spurs could be in for a frustrating evening. Having posted four blank in five outings, Tony Pulis’ men are certain to bunker down in the capital.

      I did similar, but somehow came out a whole point better off thanks to having no bench. ...and no dawson.

      Mind you I'm actually more excited about the prospect of Lei claiming the title at the weekend than fpl at the moment.

    leicester deserve their success but i reckon theyve definately been helped by their narrative. Look at the effort West Brom put into hindering Spurs. Swansea might as well have played with a beech ball.

      Did you see the way Stoke played against Spurs? There are just some very poor sides at the moment.

      The fact that Guidolin is off at the end of the season and Swansea are now safe affects their desire versus a team who are striving to make history

      The first point about West Brom trying harder I think that is true . I think the second point is way off Swansea have been poor this season . Gomis is their main striker and he has scored 5 goals and four of them were in the first four weeks . Ayew has eight goals but he has only two goals since Christmas .

      West Brom always put a lot of effort, especially away from home. Swansea were beaten by Leicester 0-3 at HOME in the middle of the season when they had an awful lot to play for.
      So why is a 4-0 defeat away from home when they have nothing to play for anymore even suprising?

      Leciester simply deserve it - they have been the most consistent team this season.
