So we have had a break, eaten as much turkey as we could fill our faces with and drunk enough alcohol to sink into a pleasant coma.
Now we are back and it is time to recommence the Fantasy Chili Bowl and preview the forthcoming quarter final stage that features:
San Antonio Ravers
Washington DC Presidents
Cleveland Steamers
Philadelphia Sentrymen
San Francisco Bulls Deep
San Diego Casuals
Indianapolis House of Pancakes
Waikiki Beach Raiders
A big thanks to the 16 teams who have left the contest at this juncture. You have helped to make it really competitive and enjoyable for everyone.
Crucially nobody came through qualifying unbeaten so this tournament is still very much everyone’s to play for.
But there were some big variations in qualifying scores.
San Francisco came through as the top scorers with a whopping 1652 points the next highest scorers were Philadelphia with 1599.
In contrast, Cleveland came in as the lowest scorers remaining in the competition and the lowest scorers in their group on only 1469 points and yet they still topped group B.
The awards for Most Valuable Player goes to Moin of the Mississippi Hillbillies as he picked up the most all star points in the competition. He also made a huge inroad into his OR during the league stages. Great work Moin.
The Captain’s Award goes to Lateriser12 from Jacksonville, who was followed closely by Tets McGee of San Diego ang then SidL of New York. Well played all of you
Quarter Final Draw
- Philadelphia Sentrymen v San Francisco Bulls Deep
- Washington DC Presidents v Cleveland Steamers
- San Diego Casuals v Indianapolis House of Pancakes
- Waikiki Beach Raiders v San Antonio Ravers
So there are some significant ties there. Match one sees the two highest scorers so far, Philadelphia and San Francisco, drawn together. This will be a massive game and should leave the victor as one of the favourites for the tournament.
The second match sees Cleveland, the tournament’s lowest remaining scorers, playing Washington DC, who have collected more points over the tournament so far. Will Cleveland’s superior match play see them win again?
San Diego and Indianapolis only sees the tournaments third and fourth highest scorers from the league stages drawn together, with the winner undoubtedly a key team to beat.
The fourth contest could see the most closely contested tie. Waikiki and San Antonio only scored 21 points apart over the course of the five qualifying weeks and it will likely be a tight affair when the sides meet
Looking Ahead
If you are lucky enough to progress the remaining fixtures are:
Semi Finals :
Match A: winner match 2 @ winner match 1
Match B: winner match 4 @ winner match 3
Final (the Texas Chili Bowl):
winner match A v winner match B
