Dugout Discussion – Southampton vs Arsenal

Gameweek 36 finally comes to an end this evening as Southampton entertain Arsenal at St Mary’s.

Alexis Sanchez will again be the focus of most managers’ attentions. Sitting in over 27% of FPL squads, the Chilean was the most captained player (11.2%) in the round of fixtures but a blank at home to Man United in his first match of Double Gameweek 36 means he has now netted just once in seven league appearances.

Meanwhile, his team-mate Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain looks to add to a pair of assists in the 2-0 weekend win over Jose Mourinho’s side. The Gunners’ wing-back has been drafted in by over 15,000 FPL managers this week for a Double Gameweek 37 against Stoke and Sunderland.

For the Saints, Manolo Gabbiadini was the fourth most transferred in player ahead of last week’s deadline, with over 108,000 taking the plunge.

Yet a blank against Liverpool took his run to one assist in five, as Claude Puel’s defence racked up the points at Anfield instead thanks to a fourth clean sheet in seven.

Thanks to his spot-kick stop away to Liverpool, the Saints’ Fraser Forster leads the way among the Double Gameweek contingent on 16 points ahead of tonight’s 7.45pm encounter.

Ahead of Kane for sure...not sure about Jesus.

          It's a coin toss.

If I had him, no I wouldn't, not even for De Bruyne. Too risky. They're trying to wrap up the title!

Yes but if they beat Brom he's likely to be rub-a-dub-dub next game.

In all fairness, the last two games were not the greatest of fixtures.

Both ManU and Soton have been pretty tight at the back.

He'll have more chances against Sunderland and Stoke for sure.

Because if Chelsea win on Friday and thus win the league, he will likely be rested Monday. I'm not getting rid but won't be captaining him.

If people are chasing in their mini leagues, Hazard> De Bruyne is, I think ,exact money and City will have more to play for across both games.

Either one of them is under threat, but quite difficult to predict which-) Kos and Mustafi are both capable of playing in the left side of a back three, so Monreal as LWB is as much of a possibility. My gut is that he doesn´t thrust in Bellerin 100% after his injury trouble and therefore wants security in his back three and then Mustafi or Kos will play inside him to protect the threat from Arnatovic/Sobhi
        But that´s a guess-)

Not crazy at all, he won´t play much, since he play tonight and your options are very good. Burnley away when they are finished for season seems like a goal battering from Bournemouth and Stephens CS chances vs Boro should be good and even United at home could end in an ultimate boring stalemate.

Only thing why I doubt this is that while Mourinho may be a coward, he is not stupid, and he knows that he is chasing and draws are not going to get him anywhere, he needs to win, and so he has to go to attack. If he's now going to park the bus against Spurs and Soton, or even just one of them… words fail me.

oh yeah, except that Mourinho is probably putting everything on the EL card. So he might even rest players in the league. Still, if he's only playing the result in EL now, he might as well try have some fun in the league, if he wasn't Mourninho.

Best Gabriel replacement (under 5.0/not Southhampton)
    A. Davies (MUN, lei) - rotation risk with Rose coming back
    B. Gibbs (sto, SUN) - rotation risk but good fixtures
    C. Huth (mci, TOT) - tough fixtures
    D. Darmian (tot, sot) - Europa league, away matches, slight rotation risk
    E. ??

Can't answer that until after the Friday pressers. Need news on Kos and Rose first.

I think it's a coin toss to be honest. Both are punts, but if I had to pick I'd go for Holding.

    4. bench boost for every gamew…

Holding certainly looks more likel, but the return of Kos could clouds thing up-)
