Dugout Discussion – Southampton vs Man United

After Alexis Sanchez ended Double Gameweek 37 with a season-high 27 points, Wednesday night’s meeting at St Mary’s has a lot to live up to.

Southampton entertain Manchester United in the penultimate showdown of a seven-day round of fixtures, and it’s fair to say that Claude Puel and Jose Mourinho both owe us a favour after their recent penchant for rotation scuppered many best-laid wildcard plans.

The Saints’ boss reinstalls a number of regulars after the 2-1 win at Middlesbrough on Saturday. Snapped up by 40,000+ and 27,000+ respectively for their second successive Double Gameweek, Jack Stephens and Manolo Gabbiadini return to the first XI along with the likes of Dusan Tadic, Nathan Redmond and Cedric Soares.

Despite mustering just a single assist in his last six league outings, Gabbiadini is his side’s most captained player, with 15,000+ handing him the armband for the Double.

Fantasy faith in United is at a low as Mourinho looks to keep his main men fresh with one eye on next week’s Europa League final against Ajax.

Marcus Rashford continues to be used sparingly on the domestic stage and is handed a third successive appearance on the bench, though Wayne Rooney is named in the first XI for the fourth successive league outing.

Having found the net in three of his last four Gameweek appearances, the Red Devils’ skipper is the most captained FPL asset among Mourinho’s starting line-up, with almost 28,000 affording him the armband.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Thinking of playing AOA with the following:

    Cech
    Alonso Stephens
    Sanchez Haz Erikson King TCarroll
    Costa Kane Jesus

    Willy Yoshi Gibbs Holgate

    1) am I right to play AOA

    A) Haz to Cout
    B) Haz & TCarroll to Fabregas & Sane (-4)
    C) Haz to KdB

    Thanks!

Well DWT if you do not play your AOA chip this week - when will you play it? You cannot carry it over to next season!

AOA is not always better than not using it. I would say yes, this is the time to use it due to the history of high-scoring games at the last round.

Colonial - no point playing it for the sake of it. The decision is whose is going to score more points:

      South' defender
      TCarroll

      ...or Sane/Fab/Lallana with a -4

    1 FT

    Willy
    Alonso, Monreal, Yoshida
    Sanchez, Eriksen, Siggy, Pedro
    Kane, Vardy, Gabbi

    Gabbi to Jesus

    What else for a -4?

    A) Eriksen to Coutinho
    B) Pedro to King

Pedro more than likely to play against Sunderland? Leicester away isn't the greatest fixture for Bournemouth either, and that move is definitely not worth a hit imo. But hey, it's your team 🙂

Origi as LFC have something to play for, I don't know that he will play though

I can see Liverpool with the following mid and attack:

      Lucas
      Wijnaldum, Can

      Lallana, Sturr, Coutinho

Although i dont have to sell him but im sick and tired of his name and not worth to be on my bench.. HAHAH. i will end the season with sturridge (c).

i will go for vokes though.

Cards only affect the competition they get dished in.

      1. In form

      3. Mid-fielder playing as striker (extra points)
      4. And probably most importantly, one goal away from share of golden boot.

    Hey guys,

    I've got 2FT

    Willy (Pick)
Yoshi Alonso BDavies (Monreal & Stephens)
    Sanchez Hazard Eriksen Sane (Romeu)
    Kane Jesus (Anichebe)

    Should I do Hazard/Romeu/Monreal > Coutinho/Fabregas/Lovren for -4?

Leader of ML is 30 points ahead with Sanchez, Hazard, Sane, Ali in midfield and Costa and Welbeck upfront

I've still got Kane/Eriksen/BDavies to close the gap for me tonight but thinking I need some strong differentials if I'm going to pip him to the post.

    Thoughts please?

    Willy
    Alonso Monreal Davies
    Sanchez Hazard Eriksen Sane King
    Kane Jesus

    Pick Gabbi Yoshida Holgate

    1FT 0.6ITB

    Strong enough ??
    Hazard or Eriksen to Coutinho?

Forget Hazard, Gabbiadini is the villain of the season.

    Hero? Maybe Sanchez or Alonso.

Who's your hero and villain of the season?

At least Hazard got 5 points this week. The only way Gabbiadini could have done any worse is if he'd accidentally shot the referee.

True, hate Gabbi for that but I've had Hazard a lot this entire season and he never manages to get me points 🙁

Is Gabb > Anichebe and Zaha > Cout for -4 mad?

Can't really get rid of Cout without shipping Alli or Sanchez otherwise

Eriksen seems to do better than Alli when Kane plays, the opposite when Kane’s out. Is that just my impression?
